I remeber one time when i was 5 or 6 i had finally done the sunday cup enough times to buy a dodge viper GTS (it was the only race i ever did). I was so friggin excited iran into the dodge dealer and accidentaly bought a
RT-10. I was so mad i nearly threw my controller through the living room window! lol:dunce:

The RT/10 is better.

I did that once too, but I LOOKED at what I was buying.

Then I proceeded to own all except the tuned car race.

But the real question is, once you had that Viper, were you able to actually drive it since you were only 6? I remember having trouble driving my Camaro...and I was 37! Of course once I learned you could switch gas/brakes from buttons to analog I did much better...

I played that game every day! i wan't as good of driver as i am now of course, but yes i was able to keep it on the pavement most of the time
 
i remember when i was four i kept spinning out with the viper on the grass in gran valley around that tight corner just near the tunnel after the second hairpin and i'm twelve now and i still do it in gt2

i hated that corner it cost me a win in the grand valley 300 kilometre endurance and i broke two controllers trying to handle that viper i kept getting mad and throwing them either at the wall or on the ground:mad:

I also started playing the game at an age of 6, too bad the discs don't last that long :grumpy:

My and my friend were always playing this stock championship with a blue Viper GTS challenging an NSX :drool:

I remember I bought a Playstation Just to buy the Original Gran Turismo. I was 12 but I was 11 when I first played it at my cousins house. My God was I ever excited and I have started a file on my memory card and my older brother started one and we both worked together to get all the licenses. My first car was a Honda Prelude Si 93' and I did Sunday Cup enough times to get myself the beloved Viper GTS and race it and eventually give it the racing modifications and max it out. 571hp man it was a beast. I still play it to this day and all my others on the GT series including 2,3 and 4. :)
 
You guys were racing Gt1 when you were 4? 6? Geez, when I was 4 I had a set of wooden blocks. Yeah. Fun. Play time indeed. When I was 6 my parents allowed me some legos. The only videogame on the market was frickin Pong...and that didn't come out till I was 11! :embarrassed:

Pong? My earliest memories were the old Nintendo Game'N'Watch consoles. My mother bought me Donkey Kong - something about building hand-eye coordination... too bad it bred a computer game addict... her! (Well, me too when I could get on). :lol:

I must admit I was much older than 6 when I first found GT, and I hadn't even thought of buying a Playstation until I saw GT at a friend's place. Then again, GT3 was the sole reason I bought a PS2. "Damn you PD!"

Favourite memories:
1. Stock viper RT10 sideways through Autumn Ring on the stock car championship.
2. Impreza Rally Car.
3. FTO LM
4. GTO LM

Least favourite memories:
1. Nausea from numerous, multiple spins.
2. Turbo lag - 6 seconds to get from idle to redline (at standstill) for a stage 4 turboed STi... Bad ju ju!
3. The sand trap on the first hairpin at Grand Valley... and the wall at the end of it! :scared: :ouch: 🤬 <-- in that order.

i did the same thing. avtually nvm. i did the same thing in gt2. then i got it race modified. before that i used a dodge challenger or charger. ( i forget ) i also had an impreza and lancer just for fun i didnt even know the lancers potential until i read about it 7 yrs later.

I was an Aurora/AFX kid myself!! I still have 30 of my cars....one day I'll sell 'em on eBay, some have to worth a bit of cash by now. I hope.

I started with GT2 when I was 9, but I got GT1 soon after.
 
I think I was 12 when GT came out(played it at a friends the first day, had my own in 2-3)

FR cars were undrivable for the first few months!

the good ole green GTO street or race got me through most of it.
 
I was 4 or 5 when I first got GT1, I can still remember my first car, a bluey/purple Mitsubishi GTO ' 92. I tuned it and kept doing the Sunday Cup until I got enough money to buy the Viper, I hated it so much I sold it and bought a used NSX
 
When I was six (late 60's) Matchbox cars still had solid axles and slow wheels.
Then Hot wheels and Matchbox Superfast track sets came out.
I thought that nothing could be better. Then at 10 I got a Slot car set, wow I was driving.
Kids these days have never had it better.
And I was watching the Bathurst 1000 (it was 500 miles back then) race on TV when I was 4 in 1967. In black and white and the broadcast had a 1 hour lunch break from 12.00 to 1.00.

Slot cars rocked. You could even take the Aurora/AFX cars apart and tweak them and stuff. With Tyco you could remove the entire motor, but AFX let you actually take the armature and the magnets apart as separate pieces. Arrange the magnets with shims behind them and voila...you had a higher-rpm motor. Me and my friends used to also sometimes take a spray bottle and wet the entire track down to simulate rain.

Then remember, "life starts when you feel old", or, "life starts when feel old from people commenting about when they started playing Gran Turismo.

I started when I was 7, and had a fully tuned GTO, but only the B-Licence. I was going to save up for the special model, but I thought that I'd buy cars to other competitions with, as I'd managed to get the A-Licence, followed a little while after by the A-International. (Got the Trial Mountain test in the Viper first time. I was really chuffed).

Yeah no kidding. Hell, I had to make friends with a pterodactyl after all my cave-buddies got killed by the sabre-tooth. And when the granary didn't flood, we used to fight over who got to mash the corn into pulp. I mean, we literally fought: Rocks, clubs...kids don't know how easy they have it nowadays. Whenever I see some kids fighting over an x-box, I always remember the time that mammoth sat on my toy wheel. That's what I friggin played with....a wheel. Literally.

I used to play with a toy wheel. Not to mention droves of hot wheels.

It was one of those that goes on a metal track that you hold and spins up and down it.

When I was three I used to say "Lamborghini."

I started playing GT1 when I was 9. I used to get ticked off because you had to leave off the gas to regain traction after a spin. Donuts
 
I started playing GT1 at 7. I raced an FCRX7, but made the mistake of pressing the 'turbo' button on my viper controller. Little did I know, 'turbo' somehow limits you to 40 mph. I lost, and I was like 'DAMN this game is hard!'. Then I used a regular controller and won :lol:

When I was 3 I used to say 'Grand Pricks' instead of 'Grand Pree' for Grand Prix

My friend says 'Portch-ee'.

And when I say 'you idiots its not 'portchee' or 'porsh', its PORSHA!!! They say im wrong.
 
I often wonder if that family name was derived from the name of the wife of Brutus. (I.e. Portia or Porcia)
