im just getting into cars and was wondering what you guys think would be a really phat ride to trick out? something i can make really fast and look good at the same time? would you guys suggest like an eclipse like in TFATF, or something more racy like a gti or vtec civic? maybe like a mustang or firebird. what do you guys think?

With no price range or actual criteria, I'll recommend this, namely because I like this picture:

It's a 1991 Infiniti G20. Pick one up for $1000, it's got 140bhp and handles wonderfully for a 12-year-old front-drive sedan. Consumer Reports calls it the most reliable car ever. And best of all there are engine modifications available since it was the same engine in the Sentra SE-R but there aren't bodykits available because it had different sheetmetal. Perfect

I second the Subaru. Or a Lancer Evo. Or maybe a Golf R32.

No bodykit, no neon, no huge 20" chrome 'racing' rims, and no 'NAWZ,' and you should be good.

NEVER do anything based on TFATF.

why, there was some bad ass cars in that movie. and i think i would rather go with the sentra so i can get a body kit. i mean what is the fun of a car if it isnt different? i figure a civic with some euro tails, a high performance drifting wing and like a street fighter body kit would be like my best bet for something fast and bad ass looking!

Yeah, there were some nice cars in the movie, but the editing was the one that ruined the movie, IMO.

Drifting wing? Those wings are only for show, not for actual use.

Having a sleeper is much better than having a stock car with bodykits on it to make it look fast so if there is someone to race you will be the underdog ;)

i dont understand i mean pretty much fast ass exotics with cool graphix what the hell is not to like about it

i kinda like mustangs or fire birds. there is a nice stang by my house with a tircked out v6. i think he has flowmasters on it it sounds soooo mean.

i dont get it, how can they be for show? it seems like it would improve aerodynamics or something.

and what do you mean sleeper? im new so take it easy on me. what is the point of having a fast car if no one can tell its souped up?

Look at the McLaren F1. That car did not have any "graphix" on it and it is the fastest car in the world.*

Why get a V6 when you can get a V8? ;)

*Or maybe that Konsseigg(sp?) car ...

v8? why would i want one of those? i mean isnt it proven that 4 bangersare like almost ALWAYS faster than v8s? i think a v6 might be even too much.

A wing on the rear of a FF car does nothing. A wing (or spoiler, to be correct) provides downforce at high speeds on a racing car. So on a street car, it would do little or, more likely, nothing.

The point of a sleeper car is
A. To not become an instant target of the police.
B. To see the look on other people's face as your 'stock' car smokes them.
C. To save money otherwise spent on useless body modifications.

Anyone else feel free to add on.

If you look at the wings, they are not designed to put downforce on the car when the car is sideways. They are only made to put more downforce when the air goes across the wing and not from the side.

A sleeper is a car that looks stock on the outside but has a monster engine beneath the bonnet/hood ;)

Like I said earlier, it is more fun to be the underdog in the race, but that is from my standpoint.

HAHAHAH.
*cough*
You are too much.

Seriously, is this some kind of hidden camera thing?

The V6 shakes too much. The way the block is made up, when the engine runs at high RPM, the engine will shake a lot. It is not balanced, so that is why it is better to get a V8 where the shaking is dramatically less than a V6.

And Inline 4's? Well, that depends on how the car is tuned and who is the driver behind the wheel ;)

20 grand is more than enough for a nice, clean Camaro or Firebird. Pick up an LS1 based car, add gears, headers, exhaust and you're good to go. An LT4 based C4 Corvette is also a pretty sweet deal right now.

20 grand will also get you into an older M3 or S4. Maintanence will run you a bit more, but you get a lot of car for your money. A '95 M3 with intake/cams/ECU/exhaust is a fine running machine. A chipped S4 is a monster ride... provided you take care of the motor.

20 grand on something Japanese... I'd go with an S2000. You should be able to find one if you look around. You can also try a real Type R Integra, but they are pretty hard to come by and there are a million wannabe fakes. I'd definately stay away from some of the ragged out modified Tegs you see crawling all over... unless you know it personally.

Well.. that's off the top of my head. I've had a few glasses so I probably forgot something good...

EDIT: Christ...you gotta be kiddin me. Friggin F-Body again.

man I leave for a smoke break and this breaks out. . . get a civic like everyone else. . .

What is wrong with a Civic?

It is a nice economic car :) Although a Toyota Echo would be a better choice :D

I believe this person, if he is serious, wants a performance car, so I would not think a Echo would work.
But, I might be mistaken.

Yeah, true.

Although s/he will be very unique if s/he drives a modified Echo
