Well, yesterday I had a problem with my 4 year old desktop after a blackout and now every time i try to turn it on, the power light turns on and turns off really fast. I was told that there is a problem with the motherboard and that it cannot be repaired. So, first of all, I'm not in a hurry at all for getting the PC as i have a laptop I can use. second, I will only get a PC in a full package, no building here. Also, I do not need a keyboard, mouse or monitor, i already have all of that. What I will use the PC for: Well, pretty much everything, I got it connected to the TV and I do everything there when I'm home, from schoolwork to playing iRacing. The price has to be below $1000 US dollars. What i want/need: Well, I really need something that will last at least 3 years, preferrably something with good video editing and gaming capabilities, I want it to be able to render 5 minute long multiview video in less than an hour or at least render it since my current desktop doesnt. Other things I want, not need, is for it to play iRacing in full settings at at least 60fps and HDMI output. Well, those are the requirements and everything, I'll be glad to hear all your suggestions and what you think. Please pardon me if anything is written wirdly as english is not my main language.

Anybody? Sorry for double post.

Do you have any places in mind where you can buy a computer?

I'm assuming the rendering you're doing is CPU-based. So CPU-wise, you'll want at least an i5 750 on the Intel side and 1055t on the AMD side. Does rendering use a lot of RAM?

I was thinking about best buy since I have no experience buying a computer or computer parts online. Well, my former PC could not render a 3 minute long multi view video at all. It had 2gb ram, a 8400GS graphics card, and not really sure how many ghz but not that much as i did a test once and showed only 1.0 ghz, maybe it was getting old and losing power. It had an AMD athlon 64x2 I think.

I have no building experience and sometime components don't go as well as a computer that computer that comes like that from the factory. If I were to build, how hard is it, is it cost effective? and do I need an expert to do it or can I do it myself?

Pretty easy, yes, you can do it yourself

Rendering speed depends on so many factors (Assuming you're talking 3D rendering). How many poly's you're rendering, resolution, software, if you're doing hardware or software rendering, etc etc.

Generally speaking though, if you're using relatively modern software, you want a Quad Core and loads of RAM. Videocard doesn't matter so much, but if you're going to spend money go workstation rather than gaming lines, and it'll be heaps better and more reliable.

I will just be doing some occasional video rendering on sony vegas (no more than once a week and never videos longer than 40 minutes, and when I say never i really mean never) and also more frequent photoshopping, but it will mostly be for watching youtube videos, playing iRacing and maybe 2 or 3 more games, and any schoolwork I do home will be done there.

Something like this would be great for gaming. If you built it you could get rid of the keyboard, mouse and get a better power supply. You could also get a better balance between CPU, RAM and graphics card.
