The Cobra get's my vote also, but do bear in mind the TVR's mentioned earlier, i'm pretty certain that TVR never produced a road car with abs or traction control.

Nope. The standard version without the bumpers and soft top is an AC but the premium version is a Shelby: Carroll Shelby was an American who conceived of the Cobra

The in game car may be the Shelby but Mr Shelby did by no means conceive the car.
It was a product of AC, a British company, and after some time in production was ordered from the factory by Shelby with specific remarks for AC to make the engine bay larger so that a larger Ford (I think) lump could be inserted.
Shelby I believe does own the rights to the name Cobra but it was used before the Shelby was built for the AC model.

Sorry, I just Wiki'd it and it seems some of my knowledge is flawed.

Ok first of all:
Sorry! I know this is not a Premium car..
But I just HAVE to let you see this.

RUF Yellowbird on Nordschleife.
Big chance you already know this movie (yes it's in hi-fi !)

To me this car is my Nemesis.
I love real life Porsches, but I haven;t been able to drive any of them in any GT game.
The back breaks out and then it;s gone. Nothing I can do about it.

Try to make the back slide juuuust a little, like the guy in the movie.
Impossible. It either grips, or you totally loose it.
Yellowbird on Nordschleife: my biggest challenge.
Mind you: I drive cars like AC Cobra around the Nordschleife with my eyes closed ;)

+1 for the Ruf Yellowbird

the cobra is fun to drive, but i don't find it difficult to control, you can do drifts easily, on the other hand, the Yellowbird is really difficult to master, i wish it was premium :(

What's with the 200km/h speed? That's only ~125mph. Heck, my Lincoln will do that as it tops out at about 140mph. Many cars in game will do this speed.
The majority of the car suggestions so far, McLaren, Cobra, Zonda and so on are all capable of much greater speeds than this, and if set up right, could be made to handle like crap. I guess I'm not understanding what it is that you're after based on your guidelines. Do you want a grocery getter that drives like a bus but can get up to 125 miles an hour or do you want a decent handling car that's capable of much more?

Give the Murcielago a whirl. Those MR cars can be a real pain in this game with no driving aids. Gallardo is a handful on regular tires, too. The break loose point is so finicky.

I have to agree. The cobra usually needs a simple correction to get it back on track while the yellowbird has a very sensitive steering input which requires a more difficult correction. The Renault Maxi Rally Car is just as difficult for me to control as the yellowbird - I keep saying that but it seems no one agrees. As for a premium that is simply difficult to drive: You could use the ballast and suspension features to make any MR car more difficult to drive.

i'd go for the F40, i've taken it around Fuji, no aids on (except abs - 1), very tricky

Just did a test run with the McF1 with everything off and Sport hard on the Alp track while raining an I have to say, this machine is a masterpiece. Even without ABS and with wet track condition set to real that car was still easy to handle. Actually what I did was went into forth or fith gear. The brakes were almost not needed. The F40 would have already stalled or needed much lower gears, which would also require the brakes. But without ABS it would have been pritty damn difficult.
But even braking isn't that hard on the McF1. It quickly starts to get locked tires but they also immidiatly stop when you go off the breaks. The F40 still somehow goes on sliding, even after releasing the brakes. That is really annyoing but also makes the challeing fun.
Also the F40 needs, in my case, the usual old school 'interval breaking', but no matter what, the F1 still doesn't get out of control, even on wet when I push the breaks hard. But of course I had to be very foresighted with braking and accelareting, compared to cars with ABS and TCS and what ever. Even braking before that small red indicator starts to flash.

But don't think I just managed some amazing lap times. I was about half a min to one min behind my own McF1 with all aids on. Hey it was raining afterall.

The F40 is still more fun. It's just a raw machine. It feels not really ment to be easy at all, even a challenge for pro drivers. The F1 is like a rocket powered race car for the average guy around the corner.

Let's see what the Cobra does to me.

update on the Cobra:

cool car :) . Awsome sh**. Almost like being on good drugs. Second and 4th gear are the best. Full throttle in second and the I don't loose control, even on wet track with sport hard, amazing! pure car porn. Easier to handle then the McF1 but tends to oversteer in such a nice way. I never felt the way that I lost the control. Always knew what to do.
When I drive the F40 with everything set to real, it always feels like the car drives/controls me not me driving/controlling it, often ending off road without knowing why.
Not with the Cobra. OK, I end up off road as well. I'm not a pro driver after all, but then I immediatelly know why.
Small little badass Cobra.

yeah, the cobra brings a smile to my face. especially on nurburgring with sports tires. even completely stock it's a joy to drive. torque is fun and addictive.

You have to drive it with ABS-Off to get the true feel of the F40, yes it was shipped without ABS:nervous:

Could it be, that the F40 is simulating the Non-ABS feeling as the most intense one out there? The Non-ABS brakes for the Cobra and McF1 didn't felt so dangerous and problematic like the ones in the F40.

Maybe there went some extra efford into the F40, because it was already used during the tire lock simulation for GT5P. Also the 3D model is far more superior to both Cobra and McF1.
Besides that the F40 is somewhat of a legend in Japan. One private driver was once racing the car on Japanese highway up to +320km/h during daily traffic. He was filming the 'race' with cameras. Too bad the police cout him, after he released the material. You can somehow replay this on SS7. That's why the F40 is actually pritty famous in Japan. (maybe it was Kaz himself ;) )

try the f1, as some have posted. it is way more challenging than the f40, way faster than the cobra, and as fun to drive as both of them. btw, it really came with no aids at all. i think the proper brake balance should be 3/1

True, but in my case, it's so hard that there is no fun and sense in it anymore.
For me, it feels like the car is broken.
But OK, I will have a closer look at the Lotus cars, because after the SSevent I just refused to drive any Lotus at real settings at all.

By the way, thanks for all the nice input and proposals. The settings for McF1 were new to me and the Cobra makes GT5 desirable again.
Originally my Cobra was just sitting with zero miles as a Sig Edition Chrome car in my garage since launch day one. :dunce:

It was like a true barn find, thanks to you guys!!! :dopey:

For premium: I'd actually say the MP4-12C. I love it but with no aids, it's not hard to spin in 1st, 2nd or 3rd and fast enough to get you into a whole heap of trouble. The Elise is also surprisingly unstable.

For standards: '86 Ruf BTR by far. It's harder to handle than even the FGT.

I find the F40 the toughest from what I have in Premium cars closely followed by the Cobra.

BUT.....................................................

If you wanted to go standards then the TVR 12 speed is a real beast to control with all aids off. Thats how it was designed I was told.
