Perhaps, but I would be more partial to funding scientific research which has the potential to save more people down the line.

Last I read, the Nordschleife is 400million Euros in debt, so no is probably the answer you are looking for.

I was thinking about this earlier - it always seems to be the way when the jackpot is massive and we all spend our theoretical winnings :lol:

The first 10 million goes to my best friend and the second 10 million to my local air ambulance charity because I know I can give them the money in person and it'll ALL be spent on the helicopter, staffing it and equipment etc - that should keep it running for another 10 years.

Then the next 10 million is split 1 million each to ten family members.

I would put 25 million in trust for my daughter and a further 25 million in trust for my unborn child.

The rest would be partly invested into high interest ISAs and the like, and partly spent so that my family and I would want for nothing else, ever again. I'd also throw some money at friends who would be pleased to have mortgages paid off and new cars etc.

It's nice to dream.
 
I have to admit, I'd be fairly boring.

After giving away £30 million to charity, I'd set up four £2 million slush funds, all the interest from those accounts would be paid into four seperate accounts; one for bills, one for fuel for my new cars, one for charitable donations, and one for other expenditure. The one fund used for charitable donations interest would pay for my self-certificate insurance on the cars.

Then I would give £1m to each of my parents (divorced), £2m to my parents-in-law, then give out money to my siblings, and nephews and nieces.

Then I would start spending the rest on myself.... :D

reading through here with what people would do with such an amount of money is the exact reason why after 3-5 years later you will read a news article that the winner of ~200 million euro is now in a 5 million euro debt.... people here are just so silly

Don't you mean "debt" because a depth of 5 million euros...is an addition, not a subtraction of said amount.

I respect everyones opinions and decisions, I was just amazed by how much people here are also willing to donate... but of course, if that is someones choice, then they should do it :)

I will spend some money on my friends and family, so that they don't have to worry about their financials, and then go on a shopping spree to buy some sweet rides. And a BigAss garage to store them in, buy a lifetime membership for the NordSchleife, and try all my cars out, Gran Turismo style. :lol:

That's why if I ever won the lottery, I'd pick the 20 year payout option and not the lump sum. You lose out on less money from the start and can't spend it all like an idiot.

No, I completely agree with you, but the majority of the problems come from when people spend it on themselves, rather than using it for good purposes. As I have no children (and very unlikely to ever have any), I would rather it go to worthy charities, what am I going to do with £30-40m when I already have another £120m on top? Of course, if I share it, then everything would be scaled accordingly, I'm never going to suggest I'll give out that kind of money if I have only won that much, etc.... And of course, my slush funds would never be touched, so I'd be earning at least £50k per fund per annum in interest after tax, more than enough to live on.
 
Hmmm, after donating hefty sum to the sites admins for hosting and website fees etc etc, I would donate some money to a random charity.

I'd then buy a mansion in the Cotswolds (I already live in the Cotswolds, I will be moving somewhere nicer). Then after house is boughtm, I'll go buy a bunch of Civics, DC2 Integras a Supra, 458 Italia and a Gallardo.

Absolutely not. Maybe not as much with 185 million euros, but imagine if you won say, a million USD. $40k payments will be worthless in 20 years.

With the way currencies are going, and governments just printing free money all the time, these things are volatile and I wouldn't put my faith in these currencies holding their value for 20 years. I'd take the 185M Euros right away, and put it down on things that will hold value. Land, houses, classic cars, material things with real value that will hold, even if a currency collapses.

I mean, with 185 million Euros, you could go on a mad spending spree and buy all kinds of cars, houses, and still have tons of money to give to charities and invest in stocks or savings accounts. I guess with 185 million Euros the danger of inflation isn't as significant, as 1/20th of 185 million is still a pile of money, but say you won "only" 1 or 2 million USD. 1/20th of that will probably be nothing by the end of 20 years.
