ok, lookin at the stats the lotus has more HP but a little less torque... the lotus is lighter by about 11kg too...

but how does this translate to handleing?
the VX220 is considerable cheaper, so it could be upgrades to equal the lack in HP i guess...

I dont really like the Opel Speedster, so I only modded it to 175hp. The Elise is a pretty wicked car and I am quite sure it is much better than the Speedster.

Is it just my setting, or whenever you go over the rumble strips in you Elise, does it totally spin you out?

oh yeah, the Elise is way better than the VX220.
it handles better, its lighter and the torque difference isn't enough to make a serious difference.
my Elise doesn't spin on rumble strips...

I have the PAL version and have both the VX220 AND The Speedster in my garage!

I thought that the Speedster is in the NTSC version of GT3.

The Speedster is just Opel, while the VX220 is a Vauxhall. And since all of their models are the same, they only have a different name.

They are both in the PAL-game, but when you choose for the English language, you get the vauxhalls (Calibra, Astra, VX220), in the other languages, you get them as Opels.

It is, but in PAL version of GT3 you can get both VX220 and the Speedster if you're clever.

I would have to say the Elise beats the VX220 in handeling, not sure about speed and accel.

For the money, The Speedster can be made better than the Lotus.
Fully modded, you have to give the nod to the Speedster/VX220 as it makes almost 50 more HP.
But in stock form you will note in arcade mode that these two are in different classes. The Speedster is a "B-Class" car (that will sweep all others in its class if you race strictly stock in arcade mode).
The Elise is an "A-Class" car. But is able to win on the tighter tracks (like Cote d'Azur) due to it's incredible agility.

Well I just started my GT mode again and I was thinking of a good second car I was going to choose the VX220 but I already used it quite a bit in my previous save. The VX220 engine just seems lacking in torque in comparison to the Elise (which is odd because the VX220 uses a 2.2 litre GM ecotec, but the Elise uses a 1.8 rover unit I think). Both cars handle pretty simmilarly to me(both have elise chassis, or chassis tuned by lotus), but the Elise seems to have the better engine, especially when it is tuned, with the level 1 turbo. Also I love the Elise's engine note with the racing muffler.
