low pwr drifters

bone stock 86 (not SS) w/ sims.

it drifts fine, but it does even better with an LSD. thats really all you would need.

SR20DET
who cares... honestly
:dunce:
kinda of a pointless post. but useualy i upgrade my cars to the max

So why did you even bother to reply. Sorry, but it kinda upsets me when someone makes a nonoffensive post and people give them a hard time.

Anyway, I find that with under/low powered light cars, you learn how to be precise with your inputs. If you go to a heavier car, you'll notice that it you don't have to be as sensitive with the contersteer and throttle and still get similar results as a lighter car.

I try do drift light cars on a regular basis. It helps keep my control sensitive. The FD is a bit heavy for this type of practice. But the S13 and Trueno are good examples.

running a 240 horse S13 in lime green 2 tone, sims all around. I find lower power cars are more challenging, and more fun. You have to try different ways to initiate the drift, not just by brute force (power over)

stock miata is like the king of opposite lock. lol. i already had a small clip of it in one of my videos.

i remember the first time i raced a miata stock in that endurance race... when my tires wore down and the car actually was able to slide it suprized me.. amazing that a lite lil car w/ that little horsepower can seriously get sideways.. at least on apricot hill. And w/ sims its the same thing. IZ that realistic that i can drift a Stock Miata almost as well as the D1 guys cars?... i dont htink so :) its still fun though

Swift
So why did you even bother to reply. Sorry, but it kinda upsets me when someone makes a nonoffensive post and people give them a hard time.

You see... Swift gets it... if only some of our members where as quick as Swift, and polite, I think we could get somewhere.

Personally I usually like to run on super slicks which usually require more power but there are a few cars that sit under 400hp with super slicks and drift just fine.

For me... it varies... I have a 203 bhp Trueno 86 I find fun to drift... I also have a 290 bhp S13 2000K Silvia.

I wanta try the Miata, I think I have to blame Initial D stage 4 a bit for that but also since I had a ton of fun with it in GT1 so I want to get back to that.

I had a Corvette Grand sport with 385 bhp on it (had becuase I lost it... replaced it with a 460bhp Grand Sport...) ... on sims...

RX-7's are very easy to drift... I also like the SVT Cobra R Mustang, someone may say that's a brick but it's a hell more agile than one may say, you might as well say the Escudo is a brick but even that can be an agile machine. The Z06 either boen stock or my 438 bhp version are both good to drift with too.

Generally any car within a 'low power' range or so it's agreed what is low power or not could be a good car. and Swift is right, you tend to learn things when you drive with underpowered cars, it's also very fun.

That's my say on in and till later.

Lately i have been drifting my 288hp 240sx (S14) with sims. I've been able to improve my drifting skills with that little hp.

I use a custom LSD and i set my own suspenion (lowering it) and putting rims on it. Drifting a car with that little hp, is an interesting thing. lol

Non-ricer drifters? Since when were they around?
On a side note, I would advise you to improve your grammar. Your posts are terrible to read... Welcome to GTP

i usually use stuff in the 250-320 hp range. i feel that any more makes the car harder to control... i like to improve a lot of the drivetrain elements but i try not to put too many engine mods on. mostly stuff like s13, s15, mr2 gt-s, even 325ci.

sometimes i drive stuff in the 500 hp range, although very rarely. minimally modded vipers, and a clk 55 i have sitting around. i tried using an espirit but that didn't turn out too well =P

i've tried using a 120 hp trueno. you can get it sideways but it's very hard to maintain a long drift.

it just feels like lower horsepower gives you more control over throttle response.

hmm, a miata... i should try that later...
