Hi, my first car only has a resale value of $3,387 - this seems to be fixed no matter what upgrades i make, earlier on in the game it did have a resale value of about $11,000 ($18, 000 car originally).
Is this standard procedue or is there anything i can do?

Welcome to GTPlanet, umpotato.

Resale value of the car is 25% of the sticker price, regardless of upgrades.

On the plus side, if you buy a car from a different memory card, it costs 100% of sticker price, but it comes with all the upgrades you've already done on the old car free, at no additional charge.

Shoot, this is exactly why you don't sell a thing in this game until you have everything you need and more.

Nothing is worth it.

Like a miata...
Start the game, buy a miata, run the enduro, then tune the miata, then win with the miata again and tune again... etc, etc.

However, when you go to sell your fully moded miata, you end up with like 6,000 dollars and a headache for letting go of such an awesome car.

I suggest you just hold onto every car you get.

Good luck. :D

Especially not the bonus cars from "one time" races!!!

The problem I always face is the "...until you have everything you need and more..." part. Just when I think I have everything I need and more, I think of something else to do and need something else.

phattboy

if i could go back, i probably would have kept at least 90% of the cars i won. because eventually you'll need them all to complete all the specialty series' anyways!!! now i find myself having to buy cars that i know i have won, a long time ago, and now i'm paying for them!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Yes, some of the races in this game can take quite a chunk of your credits away if you didn't win the car needed for that race. That is why you should keep most of the cars you win. They're handy for races in the future.

This problem should be fixed in GT4. Buy new rims, add extra $300 to Value. Install a Sport Muffler, increase Value by $900. Every Oil Change add $50 etc.

But when you sell the car to a friend they arent getting rims unless the implement that feature. And the oil change shouldnt add money becuase when you need an oil change you need it becuase ur oil is bad and the preformance of the car is degraded.

The only car I've ever sell is the Daisy Duck Vitz and the Matchbox Alto Works. Pink and Gold. Now I really want that gold one back...

Resale value of unbuyable cars also are preseted. You can see that when you buy or sell cars to your friends thought PS2 Memory Cards.

I kept anything remotely interesting, otherwise, I sell it all. I only keep rally cars and LM racers. You guys are awfully cheap if you don't have enough money to just go buy a new Pagani and upgrade it to the max, that barely dents my wallet and I don't even have that much. Cars you can only win once in the game you can't seem to sell in the PAL version, and all the rest can generally be won in one or two places with relative ease.

You're winning championships worth hundreds of thousand dollars, and cars to match, the few thousand you just lost on a Miata should be a drop in the ocean ;)

Totally incorrect Eagle.
You can sell the AE86 SS version in PAL.
You can sell the Celica TRD in PAL.
You can sell the Aston Martin Vanquish (you can only win this twice) in PAL
You can sell the Spoon Civic type R in PAL.
You can not re win these cars, and there are more examples that escape my memory.
The two cars you can not sell are the Viper Race Car and the Honda S2000 you win in the Amateur Type R race.
You can re win the Honda S2000.
I am pretty sure that you can only get the Viper Race Car once from completing Amateur Mode.
