I don't get, if you're going to be buying hundreds of cars you won't be driving anyway, why not save the time and get a lot of Karts?

I get you, thanks for the tips. I know you want the plat and do not want to play this game hours a day for months again.

Getting from level 35 to 40 can be a drag. I surely do not have the stomach to do a 24 hours a-spec for instance. So i will never plat it.

No need for hostilities. If you're not interested in the idea don't do it, there is really no need to be insulting people because something you (and a fair few others) agree is stupid. If it's not your cup of tea, don't dignify the thread with a response. If you have something constructive to add, well that's fine, but it needn't be accompanied by insults.

If you chase that trophy in a legit way you will need probably another year to get enough money to buy all 1030 or so cars. Oh yeah and a lot of money grinding.

Not that much. After 6 months of legit playing I only need 20 standards, a bunch of premiums and A-spec/B-spec bonus cars

But this way grind people CAN go out more, whilst still earning credits and vehicles for the trophy meta-game.

I always find this stuff real clever.
 
Surely it would be much easier to do the Le Sarthe Ferrari over and over again, 40 races to get to 20million, in approx 2.5 hours, and 1.8million XP points in that time as well

It's certainly faster, but I'm not sure about easier, you can't sleep and race Le Sarthe at the same time... at least I can't.

I'm sorry if you can't get passed certain challenges and are a bit frustrated. Platinum for auto grinder???? That is to get one lousy trophy from lv35 up. Man you need to chill dude. I sat 6 days on the Vettel Challenge alone and spent counless hours on other tough challenges. You need to pull that stick out of your *** and realize that it is pointless to race the same track 750 times to lv up when there are not other races to be raced. And if they wanted you to do all the endurance races they would have but you don't so I rest my case!

Bold - So you're saying it's pointless to enter a race that you've previously completed if the goal is to level up?

That may be true. However I've repeated events with different cars, setups and handicaps. My goal was to enjoy the driving physics the game has to offer.
In that respect I don't find it pointless at all.
In fact, it's rather enjoyable to identify various cars' unique characteristics and try to tame them. In some cases it's fun trying to improve them through tuning.

Eventually I hit level 40 and bought all the cars but I never had it set as requirement.
I can say with confidence that I had A LOT of fun along the way.
I'm still having fun. That was my goal.

Having a goal that requires an unenjoyable task seems at odds with a recreational activity like gaming.
If it's not fun or enjoyable, why bother?
 
I'm a bit of a trophy hunter too, and intend to get platinum one day. Have 800 cars at the moment and maybe only 50 or so are double ups? Bought pretty much all the Premium cars i want (don't really care for race cars that much) and constantly buy cars i don't have in the UCD.

Not really looking forward to the long haul that is A-Spec level 40, but oh well!
 
You mention getting those trophies as being a sense of achievement. What exactly have you achieved?letting the computer do all the work for you?

I really dont get the race to 40. Im a 36to aspec 39 bspec. Have 360a cars that are mostly unique. And i havent grinded at all other than being a little short for a car and running indy a couple times for the car.
Auto grinding is like hiring a robot to bang your girlfriend
 
Now if only they'd add a sell option to the multiple select menu...
 
So your idea of fun is to pay $60 for a racing game so you can tie elastic bands to a controller and stick tape to a USB keyboard and leave your PS3 on for 4 days?

I know people say, "Each to their own," but there comes a point where you have to ask why.

Thanks for sharing though, I guess the quicker these people get their 100% and leave the sooner this forum will be back to enthusiasts getting excited about cars and tracks with such energy it just makes you want to play more. Like in the GT4 days.
 
I don't think you understand, I still play the game, and talk enthusiastically with people about the driving experience on these forums. But when I'm asleep or at work I'm also quickly making progress in the meta-game of collecting trophies for the PSN.

Auto-Grinding and enjoying the game are definitely not mutually exclusive.

Today should be my last day of grinding in GT5, forever, and then it'll be back to driving solely for the sake of driving.
 
Eh...it's a means to an end. I mean, I really don't want piles of standard miatas and skylines and other cars I don't care about either... as I see it, I'm really just storing 30 million credits in the form of NSX's. Which I'll eventually return to credit form and buy the remaining super high value cars I need to acquire. But in the interim, I get a trophy.

I do...I mean, I have a lot of games that I have nowhere near to 100% of the trophies, and I don't care that I don't have 100% in them, and never plan on going back to them. But in GT5, where I've had over 90% of the game complete for quite a while, I feel obligated to make up that extra few percent and complete it...

It's especially annoying when my favorite thing to do in the game is to go into practice mode and do time attacks, which doesn't reward me with anything. So essentially anything I'd do to get credits or xp (besides the seasonals, which I also enjoy) is kind of a grind.
