Unfortunately most of the location shots are not part of Macau Guia Circuit. Some of the shots are definitely outdated for instance third from the bottom the new Grand Lisboa Hotel is still a construction site. And it looks like this is a fantasy track based on Macau.

Do you have the source of the article?

P.S. Definitely hope it's not PCARS. I was hoping for genuine recreation of Guia circuit.

Nevermind @Robin. Your images are from Project Gotham Racing 4 which was in an article from 2007 http://au.ign.com/articles/2007/08/10/pgr-4-new-roads-to-victory-macau

Yeah @NW48 @Soulfresh_ACV, they are from PGR4. I was amazed at how good a job Bizzare did back all those years ago.

They had two tracks, the Guia Circuit and a fantasy 'endurance' one which covered pretty much the whole city going past some of the major landmarks, most which were under construction at the time.

The graphics had to be toned down for the actual game (360 limitations) but these were the direct renders which wouldn't look out of place in a current gen game like PCars or a future GT, the detail they modelled was simply astonishing and it take that in a heartbeat.

Apart from it being a difficult track for drivers, people often forget how difficult of a track this is for setting up a car. Uphill, downhill, long-straights, tight corners. Having said that, not too hard for GT series as it's limited options on car setup.

The best version I've seen of Macau GP Guia Circuit for GT6 is by @OdeFinn and is made on Eifel Flat. In my review I raise a few nit-picks and the track was updated, to great effect.

With the modified editor the signature hairpin could be tighter. I don't think he created a new 1.2 version to achieve that, yet.

Rebuilding it on Andalucia and using the SW lake with the 'place home straight anywhere' modified editor might make a decent attempt at the elevation changes possible. The lake could be used as the reservoir if the size works out nicely, or as the seaside if that orientation works better.

Better versions are, therefore, possible. But it's a huge amount of work to make such a twisty circuit at all. A very tall order to improve on @OdeFinn version, for sure.
