What a load of crock. They don't give a crap about the PS3 because the install base is smaller? I've heard that one before.
Other publishers are looking at the Blu-Ray capacity and making games that the 360 will never be able to run and if they prove to be as good as they promise then I doubt I will miss playing football until 2K gets to make NFL games again.
You'd be right IF Microsoft "sold" over 2 million X360's in July.Duċk;2746051PS3 has a third of the userbase of 360
With the exception of last month of course.360 keeps outselling it worldwide on a monthly basis
It's a little premature to jump to that conclusion, and I suspect Halo 3 will sell more than just 260 additional X360's (assuming you didn't mean "gross ton").lead will extend this fall with cheaper price and the obvious titles looming (one which will push a ton of consoles)
You mean in the way that up until last month only one game on the X360 sold more than 2 million copies? In the way that of the top 300 best selling games of all time only one is an X360 game? In the way that the sales of just Wii Sports, Wii Play, and The Legend of Zelda: TP have sold nearly as many copies as all the X360 games combined?360 owners generally eat up software titles like crazy compared to PS3 and Wii owners, etc etc etc.
Besides the fact that you do not know that, please list all the 3rd party games that are coming out next year and of those please list the ones you claim the developers are going to put the 360 version before anything else.Of course the overwhelming majority of 3rd parties are going to put the 360 version of their games before anything else!
and Sega, Digital Extremes, Capcom, Team Bondi, Konami, etc. In fact, unless Duck is mistaken, the PS3 is also the lead platform for EA’s Army of Two.The best you can hope for in the coming future is for developers to be platform agnostic like Infinity Ward and the odd few who's lead platform for their games is PS3 like Criterion.
Yes, because after all, the EA games are so much more brilliant on the X360…As for EA's game suckage, you do have to admit their non-sports titles are, at the very least, really promising. Rock Band, Army of Two, Battlefield: BC, and Crysis are either published or developed internally by EA. Granted, if you're a PS3-only owner then I guess you have some basis for a total boycott, but still.
Well since you bring up GTA: Rockstar has said they will be making a new PS3 exclusive franchise and rumors are it will only fit on Blu-Ray.Thats a good point, it was kind of sony's selling point about the format although I dont see many of these such games comming out for a long time... maybe a GTA with 3 cities the detail of GTAIV may fill one! heres hoping though 👍
I assumed but didn't say since I know what happens when I assume. I know the levels are extremely huge in some parts. I tried playing one vs one splitscreen with my brother-in-law and the smallest maps had us wandering around trying to find each other. I haven't even bothered playing with the larger maps yet.And of course the best selling PS3 game, Resistence:FOM which was a launch title last year would have had to have been released on 3 DVDs... or "trimmed" if it were not for Blu-ray.
I did a (very) brief Google search but didn't see anything. However if I put effort into I bet I could find something, even if it is just an article discussing it.Is there a known reliable source that lists the disc capacity of all games on consoles?
You'd be right IF Microsoft "sold" over 2 million X360's in July.
Or if you want to compare "shipping" numbers, Microsoft would have to have shipped 4 million X360 in July.
Of course, these numbers may have to be even higher if we are to assume a sizeable percentage of the X360 "shipped" numbers are for repeat and replacement x360s for those that failed and could not be repaired.
As for Microsoft shipping 4 million or selling 2 million X360 for the month of July. I wouldn't bet on it. I suspect Microsoft sold just over 100,000 X360's in July... less than the number of PS3 sold during the same period, undoubtedly due to the PS3 price drop of course.
With the exception of last month of course.![]()

Microsoft Xbox division wouldn't be losing over a billion dollars every year if they really did have 11.8 million "users" and 7.1 million XBL "members" who generally eat up software titles like crazy compared to PS3 and Wii owners, etc etc etc. In fact, if this were true, they'd be making over a billion in profit each year... like Nintendo... and I say that with a good deal of resentment as a longtime investor in Microsoft.![]()

I suppose the fact that Free Radical's Haze and Epic's Unreal Tournament 3 are coming out first on the PS3 is because the X360 has so many more users who generally eat up software titles like crazy?
It doesnt take a genius to see the correlation between the number of lead titles on the X360 and the simple fact that its been out a full year ahead of the PS3. Obviously this early in the game, more games were being developed for the X360 than the PS3. However, looking over the slate of games scheduled for the end of this year through 2008, and its also quite clear that developers are ramping up on their PS3 productions and if E3 was any indication then there may even be more titles released in 2008 on the PS3 than the X360.
-Joystiq"It's wrong to say it's harder to code on the PlayStation 3, it's just something that needs to be learnt," he told GamesIndustry.Biz. He goes on to stun the less observant by pointing out that "it's just a different console."
Le Tensorer isn't the first to comment on the hardware's perceived difficulty. In June, Team Ninja's Yosuke Hayashi engaged in less subtle commentary by simply telling complaining PS3 developers to "get out of the ring." The GRAW developer goes on to state, "Developers might says [sic] it's harder because it just takes time to understand the technology, we're still early in the lifecycle."
Source?Duċk;2746572Huh? MS has sold to consumers about 11 million 360s.
Hmmm... Possibly because the NPD doesn't have a monopoly on sales data? But if you feel I’m wrong, and your confident that the X360 outsold the PS3 in July, then how about a friendly wager?NPD isn't out yet, so I don't know how you came to that conclusion.
Uh... I'm sorry... I could have sworn you said Wii, etc, etc, etc - as well. Wait.. you did.You mean in the way the 360's attach rate is 5.3 games per console, while the PS3's is 3.4?
Well based on your original statement, apparently you did.And that was at the beginning of the year. Who knows what the numbers are at now (lower or higher)...
Haven't forgotten any of that. Just as I haven't forgotten that they also aren't raking in revenue from X360 games. You're forgetting marketing, moneyhats, the red ring of death $1 billion warranty fix, etc. And that 7.1 million XBL members include silvers members which (rightfully) don't pay anything to MS.
So list them.Uh, most of them? When I said "put in front of everything else", I meant lead platform.
Someone needs to take that shovel out of your hands before you find yourself in Australia. And, y'know, if you looked at E3 most multiplatform games were running off 360s.
Be nice. He obviously hasn't read Joystiq.Hmmm... Possibly because the NPD doesn't have a monopoly on sales data? But if you feel Im wrong, and your confident that the X360 outsold the PS3 in July, then how about a friendly wager?![]()

To be fair to Duck, pack in games hardly count. And while I don't have the list in front of me, I'd be surprised if there were many gaems at all that were on that list from this generation. You mean in the way that up until last month only one game on the X360 sold more than 2 million copies? In the way that of the top 300 best selling games of all time only one is an X360 game? I though that too, but Wii Play and Zelda have sold a fair share themselves and I expect Wii Fit to do just as well.To be fair to Duck, pack in games hardly count.
You had better start making that avatar now.OK. If the PS3 sells more than 360 in July, I'll use an avatar for one week with big, bolded letters saying "Digital-Nitrate was right". Vice versa, if 360 outsells PS3 I'll send you an avatar saying "Duck was right". Fair?
I know. I was referring specifically to Wii Sports.I though that too, but Wii Play and Zelda have sold a fair share themselves and I expect Wii Fit to do just as well.
Yours smiles. Mine smiles and explodes. I'm good. Same general profile anyways.DuckOh, and your avatar is round... but you're not on the smilie bandwagon. Get on it.
You had better start making that avatar now.
EA, somehow cant manage it, so why does Ubisoft have no problem!....

Just for clarification...Duċk;2746572That's because the last time MS unveiled an '08 title was at X06 nearly a year ago. Sony has unveiled many games this year for both '07 and '08 (Killzone 2, GT5, LBP, and Infamous to name a few), and there's still TGS, Leipzig, and another SGD event to go. And there's other games we know are in development they haven't officially unveiled yet (I'm talking about showing off what it all looks like now with videos and photos) MotorStorm 2, Socom 4, The Getaway, Eight Days, etc.
Likewise, MS has Leipzig, TGS, and their event in Europe to show off whatever Rare has been working on. If they pull an E3 and we don't see many new things for 360 this year, then yes, the PS3 has more games coming out in '08.
Microsoft officials confirmed that X07, a European event usually held in late September, was canceled. The event was established in 2001 and often was used to make big announcements for the upcoming year on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, including new game titles. A company spokesman has said Microsoft will try to find another venue to talk about the 2008 lineup, possibly the Leipzig Games Convention or the Tokyo Games Show.
Duċk;2748745Well... MS cancelled their Leipzig conference. No game announcements today, nothing. 👎
When the heck are they going to show off some of their '08 titles? TGS? Surprise buttsex announcement?
"Why announce anything else when we have Halo 3?"O Microsoft, Microsoft! Wherefore art thou Microsoft?![]()
I wonder why... Either PS3 is the lead platform or Tiburon just sucks...
Duċk;2750234Oh, yeah baby. NPD is in.
