It's too bad that there are so few good playoff races left with a month to play. Arizona-San Francisco should be quite interesting, but the Rangers are likely to pull away from the Angels, the White Sox probably can't catch the Tigers, and the two division races in the East are basically meaningless since the Wild Cards are all but sewn up.
Quite a few of the teams I like underperformed pretty badly this year - the Twins are just a train wreck, and the Reds and Rockies should have better records than they do, whether based on something as simple as run differential or on something more complicated like BP's third-order wins. But I've enjoyed seeing the Diamondbacks continue to be lucky, and I hope that they can make the playoffs even though I normally want overperforming teams to fail to make the playoffs ahead of more "deserving" clubs. The Giants were annoying me earlier in the season when they had a good record by using lots and lots of smoke and mirrors despite a barely positive run differential, and people were of course fitting their performance (lots of walkoffs) to the narrative that they have lots of "heart" and are "clutch" and "know how to win" other such BS.
It's also been really fun to watch Bautista shock all of us by playing even better this year than last year, and to see the Phillies' rotation completely live up to the hype.
