Just saw his line...he tossed a gem!
 
It took just 2 hours and 18 minutes for the Blue Jays to finish off my Astros 4-0. We've been blanked now for the 10th time this season. Buehrle got the win giving up only two hits. Bedard was the Houston loser. Toronto got themselves seven hits in this game. Failing in the United States... failing in Canada. Already looking bad. Only the 1998 Astros or even the 2005 Astros can save our sorry asses at this point...
 
We left the bases loaded three times last night, and what do we do in the first inning tonight? :ouch:

Yet, it only took 5 comments on this story for someone to blame Young.
I have never played competitive baseball, but to me, that was about as deliberate as if he hit a line drive back into Hudson's head.

Its disgusting. These people are really idiots to think that a freak accident would be deliberate.
 
It is being reported from MLB Network that Alfonso Soriano will join the New York Yankees from the Cubs in exchange for pitcher Corey Black. This is all pending MLB approval.

This weekend, the Sunday Night match is all about the National League and two of the better teams in the NL- the St. Louis Cardinals at the Atlanta Braves. Enjoy the weekend series.

Not a chance in hell the Yankees win the division this year. What are they trying to accomplish by acquiring an underperforming outfielder at the very end of his career? They just threw away a prospect.
 
Well the Yankees, as a team, have 7 home runs in the month of July. Soriano has 8 all by himself. I'm sure he'll do some good...
 
It's crazy to think that the Yankees just traded for a guy that they traded away 10 years ago.

Make the playoffs. The Yankees are 2.5 games back of the second Wild Card spot and just improved their offense. If they can get a couple guys healthy and Soriano continues to produce suddenly that's a much more productive offense. And besides, the Yankees gave up their 12th rated prospect for 1+ seasons of Soriano at a discounted rate. Not the worst move ever.

Edit: just saw Soriano running out to left at Yankees Stadium with the biggest smile on his face. The guy is happy to be back in pinstripes and have a shot at a title. It's a shame he couldn't do it in Chicago. They gave it a good run in '08 but everything went wrong in the playoffs. The guy took the brunt of Cub fans unrest at times but he always took it with grace and kept playing hard. It has my respect wherever he goes going forward. I would love to see him as a Cubs 'ambassador' going forward.

Rangers are starting a new series in Cleveland tonight. They're sending Martin Perez (3-3, 3.40 ERA) to the mound against Corey Kluber (7-5, 3.69 ERA) in the opener. Hopefully the Rangers brought their bats...the offense has been pathetic since the Allstar break.

EDIT-Rangers losing 7-2. Pathetic offense and pathetic pitching. At least Family Guy is on.

I think the odds are good that Young knew that he may step on Hudson's foot, as when you are running to the base, runner almost always have the base in view, because(duh) you have to touch that base. Huddy pretty much had that base covered across with his foot & ankle, so it would've been really hard to miss that. But yeah, I wouldn't say that it deliberate or it was dirty. He was just trying to beat the play.

As soon as there was the contact, it even seemed as though Young tried his best to step off the ankle as well. As I stated earlier, I thought everyone handle the situation with much class. 👍
 
Encarnacion just hit a grand slam for his second HR in the 7th inning. Crowd's lovin it.

Rangers eventually came back to tie the Indians 8-8, then lost it in the 11th.

They're 2-6 since the Allstar break...f:censored:g pathetic! :banghead:
 
12-6, Toronto defeats Houston in Toronto. I heard we were up 6-4 until the Blue Jays just pulled away. I saw the post about the Grand Slam TOR hit, and I immediately hit up Yahoo! Sports to see the score at that point. I know the Astros are pretty much Minor League talent at present, but this is unacceptable to fail constantly. I don't care which team is your favorite- you'd be a frustrated and saddened fan too if that team was like my 2013 Astros both in record and in execution. Only good news about Houston tonight was that they put up a lot more hits and runs than last night's fail performance. Six runs and 11 hits tonight compared to no runs and two hits on Thursday night.

Well, we're two losses away from getting swept again... pending the Astros wanting to play winning baseball any damn time soon.
 
3-hit shutout for Delgado tonight. Kid was brilliant. Offense was great too, even though Goldy seems to be in a slump right now with his 0 for 5 game tonight. We need to keep this up.
 
Good start for the Braves playing the Cards this weekend. I hope I finally win the bet with my boss......

EY is one of the classiest ballplayers I've ever seen, no way he'd do that on purpose. Besides, it's Hudson's own damn fault for having his foot in the middle of the bag. One of the first things they teach you as a pitcher covering first is to touch the inside edge of the bag for this particular reason.

Of course, it was ultimately Hudson's fault. I think that goes without saying, and he obviously didn't mean to block the base with his ankle. All I'm saying is that I believe that Young knew that there was a risk that he will step on Hudson. Chances are, he probably thought he may step on Hudson's shoes, or something like that. Once again, I don't believe it was deliberate, and I didn't think it was dirty at all. Only mistake I saw in that play was the way Hudson covered the base.
 
We just won 8-6 at Toronto. The Astros picked up win #35 in our hapless season. Dallas Keuchel picked up the win with a Save from José Veras. Josh Johnson was the losing Blue Jays pitcher. So we're either playing for a series split or yet another series loss tomorrow afternoon. When I first followed the game, it was 8-3, Astros in the Bottom of the 8th. Three players from each team went yard. Chris Carter, Justin Maxwell, and Matt Dominguez went deep for HOU. Toronto's jacks came from were Bautista, DeRosa, and Rasmus. TOR outhit HOU 11-8.

ANY Astros win makes me happy. Congrats to everybody else who won today, including a 1-0 victory for Tampa Bay at the Yankees.

If the Rangers could get Young back in a Ranger uniform, everyone here would be happy. He spent his first 12 seasons with Texas, and was loved by everybody...and he became the franchise's all-time hit leader.

But, Young is not an outfielder, which is what the Rangers are targeting. They are, however, targeting a right-handed bat, and they would like that bat to play in the outfield.

lol, like I said, those talks are exploratory. It might make the fans happy to have him back, but in terms of offensive output...not so much.

In terms of anything output. He's not exactly known for his defense. Michael Young has no place on the Rangers payroll unless he's a coach or something.

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe he'll come back and work with the organization after he retires. That's what Pudge did.
