$30? That's a ripoff. My Marlins tickets cost me $2.
 
If tickets were $2 a pop here, I would be at Coors ALOT.
 
For clarification, the seats I had were $73 each. Three seats.
 
Seats I always get at D-Backs games are $20 and that includes a hot dog and a drink. Seats are in the outfield.

Going to the game on the 26th for Patrick Corbin bobblehead giveaway, not expecting us to win...
 
Outside of ticket talk, the real hot issue from this past weekend MIL at PIT brawl involving Carlos Gomez. A did see a pretty good shot somebody took during the melee. Not sure of suspensions or fines, but I am sure bank accounts will be lightened and games will be missed with all involved.

Tonight... my Astros are in Seattle to take on the Mariners. Dallas K. will go for HOU against "King" Felix Hernandez. I am not sure we'll dethrone King Felix tonight. But... we will certainly try.

I would be surprised if we struck out no less than 12 times against Felix. He could throw 3 down the middle fastballs and they will just look at it :lol:
 
The Astros won 7-2 last night in Seattle. Dallas Keuchel picked up the win for Houston to improve to 2-1. "King" Felix Hernandez fell to 3-1 with the loss for Seattle. Six wins now for the Astros.

Rangers ended up winning last night 4-3 in Oakland. Shin-Soo Choo led off the game with a solo shot, and Prince Fielder was 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Bad news...Shin-Soo Choo hurt his ankle while beating out an infield single. Didn't get to watch it thanks to my power going out. Nick Martinez will be making his second ML start tonight in place of Tanner Scheppers. His first was a no-decision in Tampa. However, Matt Harrison is nearing a return (making the west coast trip with the team), and Martinez will likely go back to the minors and Scheppers will go to the bullpen after his DL stint.

Elsewhere, Kevin Kouzmanoff was named AL Player of the Week.
 
The host of the morning radio show for the local rock station predicts that the D-Backs will have a new Manager by the end of the week. He thinks Gibby is done and out...
 
Cueto nearly pitched a 2nd consecutive complete game shutout against the Pirates, but McCutchen decided he would homer with 1 out in the 9th. Oh well. The Reds still won 4-1. Had a little hiccup last night with the bullpen blowing it, but hopefully it's just an anomaly. The bullpen really hasn't had to work a whole lot, as the starters have been going pretty deep into the ball games. And it looks like the offense has started to turn it around. Billy Hamilton has been getting on base lately and has been an absolute menace to the pitchers while out there. If he and the rest of the team can keep it up, we may actually produce some offense.
 
Got our asses kicked tonight. This all seems like a really bad joke. Unfortunately it's not...
 
Rangers currently losing 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th. Texas defense has been very sloppy tonight, allowing 2 unearned runs.

And, due to video difficulties on Fox SW, at one point we were getting audio from Ranger commentators and video from Comcast Oakland (or whatever it was).
 
Luke Gregerson blew it for Oakland. Down to their last strike, and with the tying run on second, Josh Wilson doubled home Leonys Martin to tie it. Michael Choice brought Wilson home to go ahead.

Winning a series against Oakland makes me happy.
 
Tuesday night in Seattle, we won again. This time, a 5-2 victory at the Seattle Mariners. Winning for HOU was Collin McHugh along with a save from Josh Fields. Erasmo Ramirez was the SEA loser. The Astros are assured at least a series win at this point.


Elsewhere...

* MLB Network shown the New York Yankees at the Boston Red Sox. These rivals went at it hard, and it began with NYY banging in two runs in the Top of the 1st. The Bronx Bombers went on to win 9-3. Masahiro Tanaka remains perfect with a 3-0 record, as he won for NYY. Jon Lester picked up the loss for BOS, falling to 2-3.

* Joey D's Tigers roared loudly in MoTown with anm 8-6 victory over the visiting Chicago White Sox. Verlander was the DET winner along with a Joba Chamberlain save. Charlie Leesman lost for CHW.

* You can't win if you can't score. That's the lesson Atlanta learned the hard way at home to Miami. Combining on the 1-0 win for Omnis's Marlins win was José Fernandez and a Steve Cishek Save. Alex Wood lost for ATL.

* Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hammered the Washington Nationals 7-2 in Washington, D.C. The winning pitcher for LAA was former Diamondbacks pitcher Tyler Skaggs. Falling to 0-3 and taking the loss for the Nationals was Taylor Jordan.

* Dolph Drago's Red had themselves a good Tuesday of baseball, taking down the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 in Pittsburgh. Johnny Cueto was the CIN winner, and Edinson Volquez was the PIT loser.

* St. Louis wasn't mesmerized by the bright lights of New York City. In this NL Central vs. NL East match, the Cardinals took down Blitz24's Mets 3-0. Adam Wainwright won for St. Louis along with a save from Trevor Rosenthal. Dillon Gee was the losing pitcher for NYM.

* At Wrigley Field, it was a great night of baseball... if you're a Cubs fan. At least on this night, the Cubs are higher up on the food chain than the Diamondbacks. The Cubbies won 9-2 over R1600Turbo's Diamondbacks in Chicago. The win went to Jason Hammel for CHC, and ARI saw Brandon McCarthy take the loss.

* Last year's AL West battle came down to Texas and Oakland. Oakland could slap around the Astros, but they couldn't tame the other Texas team... at least after this game. The Texas Rangers won 5-4 in Oakland. Alexi Ogando won for Texas including a save from Joakim Soria. Luke Gregerson was the losing pitcher for Oakland.

Astros f:censored:ed up and failed. Leading 3-2 heading into the Bottom of the 9th in Seattle, the Mariners put up three runs to win 5-3 over my Astros. Great shame to lose like this, but the Astros still managed to actually win a series for a change.

* Happy 100th birthday, Wrigley Field! Unfortunately... the Chicago Cubs' centennial celebration of Wrigley Field was bitter sweet, as R1600Turbo's Arizona Diamondbacks were total party poopers in taking down the Cubbies 9-7(?).

* Texas blanked the Oakland Athletics 3-0 in Oakland earlier today. Good job by KM964's Rangers.

As already stated, the Rangers won 3-0 and swept Oakland. Martin Perez had another solid outing, and by solid I mean a complete game shutout, his second consecutive. 26 and counting scoreless innings.

Onwards to Seattle for an off day tomorrow and a series starting on Friday. Two big pieces will be returning this series...Adrian Beltre on Friday, and Matt Harrison on Sunday.

This ragtag Ranger team has gone 14-8 so far in April. I can't wait to see what this team will be like once Jurickson Profar, Geovany Soto, and Derek Holland come back around the All-Star break.

Going to the game on Saturday (mainly for the bobblehead giveaway :p) and I believe we are playing the Phillies. Not expecting a win. :nervous:

In today's news:

Mets win 3 out of 4 vs. the Cardinals.
Toronto's SP: 6 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 9 K, 1 BB.
Toronto's RP: 3 IP, 9 R, 8 H, 3 K, 2 BB. (Yeah, they lost.)

And the trade that MUST be made since these teams are confused.

Boston Red Sox trade Pitcher Mike Carp to the San Diego Padres for LF Andrew Cashner.

And Chicago Cubs have tossed out the birthday cake made for the 100th anniversary of Wrigley Field. I think they should have played the cake and tossed out the team. Pretty clear which one is stale.
 
Not stated here, but Michael Pineda was suspended 10 games. So looks like he will miss two starts.

Michael Young will be honored in a pregame ceremony on May 17 against the Blue Jays. He spent 12 of his 13 seasons with the Rangers. He made 7 All-Star teams (ASG MVP in 2006), hit .300 or better 7 times, and had 6 seasons with at least 200 hits. He won the AL batting title in 2005, won a Gold Glove at shortstop in 2008, and holds a few Ranger records; 1,823 games, 2,230 hits, and 647 extra base hits. He was part of the 2010 and 2011 AL champion Ranger teams, and the 2013 NL West champion Dodgers.

For Mr. Pineda, who is now officially an idiot, I am not surprised. I wonder if he will try it again in his next appearance against Boston because it is to be expected now.

Thank you to Blitz24's Mets for taking 3 games against those pesky Cards. The Reds were able to grab 3 from the Pirates, and would have swept them if not for the bullpen blowing game 1. Amazingly, after the horrendous start to the season, the Reds are now above .500. Pitching's been the name of the game, with timely (even if little) hitting recently.
 
Same old song and dance... Astros mercifully failed last night hosting the Oakland Athletics. The boys in green and gold hammered us 10-1 last night. The A's handed the Astros their a's last night as we continue to be the AL West doormat (and maybe even the American League doormat to begin with).


Enjoy the weekend series, everyone. The Sunday Night Baseball match this weekend is a classic Los Angeles vs. New York sports meeting- the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at the New York Yankees. The possible pitching matchup will be Garrett Richards for LAA going up against Japanese superstar Masahiro Tanaka for NYY.
 
Neal Cotts blows another one...he's given up three so far, and no outs. First and third, but he just got pulled.
 
The Yankees lost to the Angels 13-1. Pujols hit a blast for number 501. In fact, I think every Angel homered. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
