I think I finally found a design that suits me the most.

Yoshi

Jet Bike
Metal
Super Glider

I am a Yoshi Biker :p.

After my crisis, I have found the Pipe Frame + Roller to be very responsive and monstrous at drifting.

I finished all the time trials vs. the NIN ghosts and got at least one star on all the regular cc races. Now onto mirror mode, yikes.

I found that using Bowser (my fav :) )with the blue bike and red tires made the time trials pretty easy. Just handful were hard. I haven't tried the gold tires yet, but they don't look any better than the red tires? I'll give them a whirl cause they are gold but was expecting a bit more stats from them tbh.

The game is pretty fun, 150cc is a little nuts but nothing like the SNES and N64 versions were.

Most of the stats for the parts are actually the same, in my opinion, set-up all comes down to what you find the most comfy.

Sorry for double-post, but this was an awesome extract during some online racing with my girlfriend earlier tonight. We have a 'peace pact' not to use aggressive items on each other, and occasionally it makes for some great moments.

Just finished MK8 and got my golden kart and tires! Fun game, but much easier than the SNES & N64 ones. Hopin' to have some time to race with you guys 👍

Well you still need the Gold Glider (which is unlocked by having 10,000 coins) :p.

Wish I could race with you all :( but I can only do TT Challenges and MKTV so far.

I still don't have the bloody gold glider. :yuck: Which is surprising since I've played for 62:36, I will get there though! :p Congrats @Jump_Ace, hopefully we'll cross paths online. ;)

Has anyone had a go at my latest Rainbow Road time? :D Love doing Time Trials on that track.

I've been extremely busy lately, but now that I have free time I need to get in on these TT challenges. I still need to get above 3000VR as well. :p

I hit 4100 last night, it's getting hard to get in rooms that increase VR now.

Yeah, you can either race in a lower-level room where losses are risky and wins aren't rewarded, or you can race in a higher-level room where the racing is so close that a single strike can easily drop you four positions or more, and multiple strikes will usually leave you in 10th. But you won't lose so many points.

Yep. It can get frustrating getting 10 points for 1st but losing 20 for being 10th. Maybe I should look for 150cc rooms, surely those people would have higher VR's than a normal room. Also I've found that entering random tournaments are good for both trying out new combo's and just relaxing (no worrying about losing points).

This might shock you guys, but I had no idea you could restrict what rooms you can go in. What kind of options can you tweak?

Played the game for the first time today. I'm very impressed with it and I had great fun! Everything felt very weighted though and drifting did not flow right to me. I'll probably get used to it and what not as I had only played for about 20 minutes.

Overall, I love it!
Have you tried the Inside Drifting Bikes (Yoshi, Sport and Jet Bike)? They drift differently and maybe that is your style.

No I have not tried the bikes. However from my experiences of past Mario Kart games... bikes are awful for my style of driving. :p

I played a hefty amount of Mario Kart Wii, and never liked those bikes. Rather, I despised them, but that's besides the point! I could give them a shot when I get a go at it again though.

I used to despise them too (one thing was that I hate almost everything OP :p). Drifting felt awkward.

But now I love them and they are my favourite vehicle (mainly the inside drifting ones). They are now much more balanced with no more wheelies and the Inside Drifting Bikes having an Outside drift delay before they inside drift allowing me to get to know the bikes :p.

I found it takes time to get used to the trajectories of the drifts, but once you're accustomed to what line to take it's very smooth and solid gameplay.

I've figured out the Rival system after extensive playing with Yoshi :p.

In Grand Prix, it depends on your chosen character for the first 2 rivals (Yoshis are Toad and DK) while the 3rd is random. However, if a rival does very bad in a race it'll be replaced for the remainder of the cup (DK did bad in the 2nd race then got replaced by Ludwig). During Multiplayer the rivals depend on Player 1s character.

In VS, it is like Mario Kart Wiis and and 3 rivals are chosen at random.

@Doodle Yes, it's kind of the same as MKWii but it works slightly different in points distribution. @RESHIRAM5 Nice find! Daisy always has Waluigi as a rival, which I find kind of odd, maybe im missing some backstory here?
