I hate scanning planets. In order to thoroughly scan a planet you'll need to use all 30 of your probes. Which means leaving the system your in, burning money to get more fuel and probes. Scaning takes a while too while being boring.
I agree scanning is boring but you shouldn't need to use 30 probes on each planet.
Move the scanner (right drag on PC ver, dunno what for consoles, but it should tell you) around until you find a deposit of minerals. The scanner signal will peak and make a unique sound for each of the four minerals.
Only then do you need to launch a probe.
Re: Team mate development
It seems like Bioware went too far in the quantity vs. quality equation when developing your squad. Each member does have some nice dialog and interaction scenes but only when you're on the Normandy or doing their personal side quests.
When you are on a 'regular' mission, your squad members only very rarely comment on things going on. And they pretty much never interact with each other. This is probably because the more squad mates you can choose from, the more complex it is to write and record dialog for each possible combination.
And even if you do create the dialog, most players will only experience a small fraction of the produced content, which makes it inefficient.
Which is too bad, because I'd prefer to have less squad members to choose from and more interaction within the squad.
My only other beef is that sometimes I'm picking up renegade points unexpectedly. I don't mind getting the points. I only mind when the game doesn't make it clear why you're getting them.
Shep got 2 Renegade points during the conversation with the Krogan Doctor who made Grunt. Can't figure out why. Even played the scene again.
Aside from that, I'm really digging the game.
The advert for the production of Hamlet with an "all Elcar cast" was rofflecopter. As was the advert for the movie with the first Hanar Specter.
