So basically for S&G's I decided to see to what ridiculous levels I could up the stores of my material resources by visiting every single available planet/moon/star and probing it until I at least dropped its bulk resource level down one. These values are after I competed the suicide mission and built all available technology upgrades (weapon, armor, ship, etc). And now here is the final obscene tally:

Eezo - 126,446
Iridium - 800,433
Platinum - 532,680
Palladium - 612,336

Performing this experiment was not nearly as much fun as it sounds ;).

I am on my 2nd playthrough and this time Miranda is not loyal. She was loyal and then the Jack vs Miranda fight happened again that always happens. I had to pick 1 or the other. So hopefully I still have a chance to keep some of the crew members alive. I could not find any way at all to keep both of them happy. :guilty:

You're fine. When you advance to the Suicide Mission just make sure that you do not select Miranda for any leadership roles and everything should work out ok. This assumes everyone else is still loyal naturally.

CB - the cat fight between miranda and jack doesnt happen until youve completed both of their loyalty missions. you should put off their loyalty missions until youve more than 3/4 of your renegade/paragon bars filled up to avoid picking one or the other. also, the cat between tali and legion will take play once youve completed both of their loyalty missions so i'd suggest the same thing for them.

also, anyone not loyal you take in the final boss fight will die.

Not true. I took a disloyal Miranda through the Suicide Mission twice and she survived just fine. However the first time I completed that mission I had her lead one of the parties and, ironically enough, another loyal team member died. The second time through I used a different team member, who was loyal, and everyone made it through netting me the associated achievement.

Thanks again. This mission is quickly approaching again. So at this point I have 2 saves that I can try to get the achievement with. I can try my first playthrough where Jack kept dying or try my 2nd playthrough and hope Miranda survives. Currently she is the only non loyal team member. I just picked up the Assassin and the Justicar last night. So once I complete their missions I will be just about ready to try the end again. Oh yeah I still need to buy all my ship upgrades. I have been holding off on those until the end.

yeah, for every ship upgrade you miss you kill someone.
Oh really??!! Maybe thats why Jack died no matter what I tried. :dunce: But I thought for sure I bought everything. I even had a ton of extra resources left over.

Yep but according to the link you only truly need a few upgrades:
Ship Upgrades needed:
1.Thanix Cannon
2.Multicore Shielding
3.Heavy ship armor

This is all you need no more no less

Party Member Upgrades needed:
1.The only party member that needs an upgrade is Mordin. He requires his Omi-tool upgrade.

When you get a chance read through the link just to make sure, but like I mentioned I had the exact same situation as you and managed the achievement by not using Miranda as a leader. Also, like ES commented, I did not select her going into the end game boss battle either. So I'm thinking you should be good.

do you really need his omni tool upgrade? i didnt get it on the first run through and he survived.

Honestly I don't know for certain, I was just quoting the GF's link.

I am getting very close to the end of my 2nd playthrough. The only thing I have left is to do the IFF mission. I had a chance to sleep with Jack last night but I am saving myself for Tali. lol

I want to make sure I have the resources for all the upgrades before I continue. So I spent about an hour last night probing planets again. Probably do the same for a while tonight then finish the IFF mission.

I finished my ME2 2nd playthrough and it worked!! Even with Miranda not loyal I was still able to save every single person. :)

I started my 3rd playthrough and this time I am going for insanity. I started a brand new character from scratch that way the enemies are all lower levels. So far my strategy is working perfectly. I already have Modin. I also have Zaeed and he is loyal. I am going to do as much planet resource gathering as possible so I can buy all the upgrades. So far it is going very well on insanity. Much easier as a lower level character instead of going at it with a level 30 character. 👍

im hopping the level 30 limit is so that you can use the same character with the same powers and not be too over powering at the start of the 3rd game.

I didn't read through every post so sorry if i missed it, but what level were you around when you beat it the first time? The last MAIN mission i did was the Collector ship mission with the distress call, still haven't collected all the team yet, but anyone have an idea how close to the end i am? I believe i'm level 13-15 (haven't played in a few days). Already on the 2nd disc. I had a feeling i may be close to the end as i had the choice of going through the OMEGA relay or looking for more team members. :dunce:

Just dont do the IFF reaper mission. Thats pretty much the beginning of the end of the game once you finish that level. I was around level 26 or 27 when I finished my first playthrough. Just make sure everyone is loyal and get all the upgrades you can. That will add quite a bit of time. Just keep in mind the enemies level up with you. So the more upgrades you have, the more powerful you will be.

Once I started my 2nd playthrough I went from 26-30 within minutes. I leveled up to 30 almost instantly. The problem with that is the enemies are also level 30. So its tough in the beginning until you improve your upgrades.

They should have kept the vehicle parts to make the game have more variety.
Everyone cried about the Mako so they took it out. I also enjoyed driving it but oh well. I dont really miss it, ME2 is a very good game even without the Mako. I heard the next free DLC will add some sort of vehicle you can control. That DLC comes out this month.

It's supposed to be a hover tank looking thing based on what I've seen floating around the net.

Coming Late March.
Yes the Hammerhead. http://www.gametrailers.com/news/new-mass-effect-2-dlc-coming/1866

Cool, I'm glad BioWare is staying on top of the DLC with Mass Effect 2 since they sort of forgot about Mass Effect 1 (although Bringing Down the Sky was cool). Hopefully it gets an expansion pack like Dragon Age is getting.

free -
fire walker pack - hover tank missions
cerberus arch projector - judging by the description, some kind of lightning gun.

MS points -
Kasumi - stolen memory - new mission and character - 560 points
new outfits for jack, thane, and garus - 160 ms points.

I tried this free DLC the other day on my insanity playthrough. The Hammerhead is much easier to drive than the Mako. I only played through 1 mission and died on the 2nd mission right at the end. After playing FF13 I am having a hard time getting back into ME2 especially on insanity. :scared:

With regards Mass Effect 2 and 360 exlusivity in general: The bottom line is, when Bill Gates wants great games to only appear on his console, all he needs to do is open his chequebook and say "how much?", and companies will always danced to his tune. That is the reason, so dont listen to any pathetic excuses they make. The PS3 userbase is growing, so a time will come when companies(like Valve) will have to concede that it would be in their best interest to release their games on the PS3 too.
