Abarth 500 2009

These settings try to mitigate some typical front-wheel drive characteristics, but you still need to manually help yourself with your driving style, too.

Has anyone noticed the brakes on the Abarth 500 being grabby? Also, even with moderate braking at speed they tend to pull right. Maybe since I’m right handed. But seems I need to be very delicate with the brakes on the Abarth.

Ford GT 2006

The Ford GT struggles with some tracks, especially ones with elevation changes and certain curves. These settings help to mitigate some of those issues.

The additional ballast helps with loss of grip through elevation changes.

You may want to adjust the gears for each track.

The power curves don't seem to match actual responsiveness. Try raising the revs beyond what the curves suggest.

Braking is a definite problem with this car. Practice your braking points.

Sauber Mercedes C9 1989

The C9 handles well on a variety of tracks, but keep in mind that it has only 2.77 lbs per HP pressing down on the tires. Be careful on corner exits.

Decreasing downforce to a safe level for a track with a long straight, such as LA Sarthe, can make a huge time difference.

NISMO 400R 1995

The 400R was a tricky car to tune, so these settings were tested on a lot of tracks to try to manage a wide variety of challenging curves and corners. As you can see in the video, the car handles curbs well. This is a 4WD car, so you still have to acclimate to it, to make it behave.

I just now tested the Abarth 500 on KDP Y+M Reverse with my previous aria @ 342 PP and found it to be very reliable. No more than .75 of a second difference in two 3.2 minute laps. The brakes did not grab or pull the car to one side.

Compare your settings with mine to see if you can resolve your issues with the car.

McLaren P1 GTR 2016

This is a fun but monster car. It must be respected.

This particular aria is set to 800 PP, to do some of the built-in 800 PP challenges. The default Racing Hard tires barely get the job done and won't be fun, so go up one level to Mediums. There is very little power oversteer, if you use normal driving habits. There is very little understeer. Fun, fun, fun!

Peugeot RCZ Gr.3 Road Car

This combination of car, track, and settings is an excellent environment in which to practice your throttle control!

Alfa Romeo 4C Gr.3

It is easy to understand why this car has so many fans. Lots of grip, gears were massaged for maintaining control and for efficiency.

Renault Avantime 3.0 2002

Because the power to weight ratio of this, um, car, is so low, it is a momentum vehicle. You have to keep the inertia going, so that you don't get left behind. This means that you need to enter wide before clipping the apex. This will be an invitation for dive-bombers to ram you at the apex. Be careful of who you race with.

The weight pressing on the tires means that the car pretty much goes where you tell it to go. It is an understandable people mover.

Ferrari 296 GTB 2022

My guess is that the settings for the 296 are not finalised in GT7. The weight shift under braking is horrendous leading to loss of control. To counter it, the front suspension has to be make so stiff that you won't want to make contact with curbs. The differential also needs to be tamed when downshifting into corners. Coast, brake early, add some acceleration when downshifting. Do whatever it takes to keep control.

Check out those power curves, too! The crossover point is at 5,252 RPM! According to their information, all of the power is in low revs. Shift accordingly.

The M2's weight is a concern, but it is manageable. Practice for good throttle control.

Bugatti Chiron 2016

This is a monster of a car, but with this tune, it is controllable. Most of the power-understeer is gone, but the driver still needs to use throttle-control and trail braking. You can shift down at high revs if the car is in a straight line, but shift down in curves when the revs are less than 4,500.

Honda Civic Type R 2022

Even as a front-wheel drive car, this car is very comfortable to drive. Time was spent trying to eliminate most FWD car faults, including tire wear, wheelspin, and understeer.

The default settings are reasonable, so I didn't do too much. The weight-shift is surprisingly tame. Adjusting the Brake Controller toward the front may be more effective, but it slightly adds more tire wear the more to the front it is.

The gears should be your biggest concern. The gears and differentials got a lot of attention in these settings.

Porsche 911 turbo S Leichtbau (964) 1993



St Croix B is a good test track for this car. Elevation changes, to unsettle the car; lots of different curves and various braking zones; long enough straights to let the car run.

The Porsche 911 turbo S Leichtbau is a very difficult, cantankerous car to tune and drive. As you can see here, with practice and good techniques, it can be very stable. It is one of the widowmaker 911s.

However, there are things that the driver can do to maintain control. Brake early in a straight line for as long as necessary. Coasting can be beneficial. Trail-braking in the right amount, in the right area, helps to calm the car. Downshifting, therefore engine braking, can lock up the rear wheels enough to lose rear tire grip. Downshifting at high revs can also cause problems. Try to shift down at lower revs.

Your best chance of maintaining control and actually having fun driving this car involves a good amount of practice, to let you plan ahead, to deal with upcoming problems. Do not consider this car like most others. It isn't. It is up to you to understand what works.

Lap guide @ Dragon Trail Gardens Counter-Clockwise, in the Porsche 959 (1987) with settings

The 959 is set up for common 580 PP events.

There was an old tune on my 959 that was still difficult to handle, so this is a more refined, controllable, and much more enjoyable to drive tune. You can still rotate the car, but be careful of downshifting too quickly. Try to shift when the revs are lower. Tire wear should be even over most tires, depending on the track.

My tune for this car is still one of my favorites. Just ran a 2:22 at Suzuka while throwing it around in the turns. Not sure if it suits your driving style but it's worth a shot. I might prefer it more pointy, but I like that I can manage over/under-steer a few different ways with the weight transfer on this car.

That actually makes a huge difference. I'll test it out again before giving my feedback.

As I get into tuning more, and am trying to fix the cars that always gave me issues, I'm finding the biggest cause / best fix is aftermarket vs stock wheels. Not sure if it got worse with recent patches, but some cars cannot be put on aftermarket wheels (standard/standard/standard) without causing issues at max suspension load...

Our racing is designed for us to tune stock cars (good for Sport driver training), so I haven't even tried to deal with aftermarket wheels.

Now, once we have used a car, then anything goes, so I will keep this in mind. I can't say that I have been stumped by many cars, though.

The BMW M3 1989 is one of the most enjoyable cars that I have found in GT7, so far. With this tune, it is very stable, controllable and reliable. Doing a 3-minute lap, I had less than a half second difference compared to my ideal lap!

NISMO 400R 1995

Thanks for 'saving' one of my favourite cars that I didn't like (and thus didn't use) in stock form. I don't play a lot, so not a lot of Cr. so the Cr. I spent felt like a waste. Based on some of your other tunes (The '22 911 GT3 RS, both RUFs, Silvia, '73 911, GT350 and Boss Mustang) I tried this one, but without the enhancements you used (ECU, filter, etc) to see how it would go.

I used your suspension, differential and gear settings with SH tires, and even if not optimal, it feels like a different car already. One thing I'll need to try out myself to improve is the braking. In stock form, with these settings, when braking in anything other than directly going straight, the rear is really unstable. (e.g Suzuka, corner at the end of the long straight, and the hairpin).
Note: this is not critque on your tune, as I know your setup is different for tires, tune parts, etc.

Despite this, using the 400R i (and a lucky roulette ticket...) for some races, I got the Leichtbau 911 just as it was about to disappear, really look forward to giving that a go too.

Anyway, long story short, thanks for your tunes and video's. They really helped me get rid of my "lots of downforce and/or sticky tires" habit and force me to re-learn my poor driving habits from GT5. The 180SX and Silvia are great cars for that! I'm still a lousy driver, and bound by controller use, but the experience is much more enjoyable, so thanks for that.

Thanks! Only just after checking again, I noticed there may be an issue with one of the links for the 400R on page 1: the stock version points to https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/monday-night-racing-recruiting.404729/post-14302742 which does not have the screenshots as for the enhanced version. I used the enhanced settings but on the stock car with SH tires and a bit of band-aid-brake-balance. Guess I wasn't entirely awake when I looked up the settings.

Thank you for the invite, it would be really nice if I could join in as my skills really could be improved, but my current schedule doesn't really allow it... I will definitely keep it in mind though! (I already drive pretty much only with driving lines and markers, and definately don't have licences at gold )

I do not really know how you select the cars to tune, but are the KTM X-Bow or Porsche 904 somewhere in the queue?
