I am absolutely blown away by the detail in your liveries mate, especially the art cars. Hoping you'll release them on the M4 Gr4, M6 Gr3 cars so we can use them when racing!

PS: I'm using your "Genuine BMW Parts" livery when racing :)

Thanks. Unlikely though, I've still got 3 Art Cars to make and I doubt I'll find time to remake existing ones.

PS: I'm using your "Genuine BMW Parts" livery when racing :)

Glad to hear it.

Comments and criticism welco... ah shove it, it took ages, I don't want to know if you don't like it.

Alpina FT-1 DTM

@MatskiMonk you've probably already got this on your radar, but in case you don't...
Yeah, since Mehretu was announced I've kinda been dreading it - it could be worse, but there's a basically a dot pattern overlaid over the whole lot and that's going to absorb a lot of decals.

It's on the to do list.

I've got the 3 other remaining art cars in progress, one unofficial art car for BMW, and 3 other art-ish cars in progress at the moment - and I'm getting nowhere fast with them!

M2 with a body kit, maybe?
M2 has the best widebody, rear wing, diffuser, bonnet and front splitter options in the game.. just wish you could change the wheels. :sly:

Pretty much all progress on liveries has ground to a halt at the moment. I had thought about trying to get the Mehretu car done before Le Mans, but that ain't happening.

A couple of recent surprisingly time-consuming liveries:

Porsche TAG Turbo SJ87 by Lanzante

Attempt at a fairly accurate replica of this recent bonkers F1 engined car.

AC Schnitzer ACS3 A.R.T. (Advanced Racing Technology)
Reasonable attempt at this show car from ACS, the original car wasn't an M3 and had a variety of parts that can't really be replicated in the game, so I didn't spend that long on it...

Heiner Meyer / Walter Maurer "New Horizon" - BMW E9 3.0 CSL '71

The original car was commissioned by Dr Christian Zschocke in 2016 to be part of his Wundercar Collection. Originally it was painted on a BMW E3 2500 saloon, but since that's not in the game, I did it on the E9. Pop artist Meyer created a design inspired by imagery from the late Sixties that would have been relevant when the car was new.

The design was applied to the car by Walter Maurer, of BMW Art Car fame (amongst other things).

Obviously I had to truncate the design a little to fit the Coupe rather than saloon, but it's pretty close.

"Two Worldz" BMW VGT, Fillin Guas style Art Car

This was a collaboration title ‘M Tagged’ that BMW did a little while ago, as part of the latest generation M5 hype, with an artist called Fillin Guas. I saw it on display at the BMW Welt back in March, and I thought it would make for an interesting looking livery.

Ended up being about 20 decals, just repeated. The shape of the BMW VGT, as ever makes this kind of thing a little tricky, and obviously it’s not possible to cover all the glass as per the real car, so I did the rear screen since it would be contiguous with the car body, where the rear side windows wouldn’t be.

I’m not sure I really captured the art style of the real car, but it gets the point across I think.

Janis Joplin's Porsche 356 - The History of the Universe.

So, at some point somebody suggested this as something I should do - I can’t remember who I need to blame for that.

Anyhow, this car represents Janis Joplin’s 1964 Porsche 356SC. Her brief to the roadie that painted it for her (a fella by the name of Dave Richards) was to represent the History of the Universe, in all the colours of the rainbow…. Given that I have not partaken in copious amounts of marijuana, I’m not sure if that’s how I’d interpret it… but it is visually very interesting - and a total pain in the ass to recreate.

I’m not particularly a fan of Joplin, but she drank enough Southern Comfort that the company bought her a fur coat to say thanks for all the publicity she gave them, by drinkin’ on stage… preach sister.

This livery is moderately accurate, the cars are slightly different in shape, so things got further out of whack the more I tried to line it up. Many, many custom decals were made. I'm pretty happy with it. I opted not to paint the bumpers, didn't look quite right without remaking a load of stuff, and they're not the same as the real car anyway.
