Maybe there should be a limit on how many copies of GT5 PD can sell... try selling THAT logic to Sony!

Best of luck.

This is just one in a LONG, long list of incredible coding blunders and looking for any other explanation is grasping at straws. You are looking for REASON where none exists. Stupid doesn't NEED a reason

The reason they have this limit is purely to make Penniless an attainable trophy. :dunce:

Not too hard with a little math and clever use of mods and the used lot and selling cheap cars. I did penniless with 20k cr or so, and a non 0 or 5 ending number (like 21,823 for example).

REALLY? The cap it 20,000,000, an amount that most people won't be getting for a while and it's more than the FM3 cap, and you're complaining about it? Really? Seriously? "I'm sorry sir, you can only have 20 million dollars," "That's it? But I wanted to buy Mars AND Pluto. Oh well."
By 'most people' perhaps you mean YOU.

With cars costing 20,000,000 the cap should be higher, period.

His reasoning is, if anything, thin. The cap is probably there to annoy us, in an attempt to make it a gameplay issue. Drive around Indy seventy thousand times and get a Ford Mark IV, which although is a very nice car, you won't enjoy as much as your tuned Le Mans racer. It all reaks of senseless grinding.

Not to mention you can't save or use B-spec drivers in endurance races. It reaks of poor game design.

I have about 50million credits in GT4.

Couldn't agree more. Polyphony have raped us all in the face.

I have a friend with more than 110millon in GT4

Oh and thanks for reporting the multi millionaire on the trophy thread. About a week ago I was about to give up that trophy chase and buy something as 20m was so far off, when I noticed your original post on it.

You're welcome, glad you noticed it. Besides you and Famine, I'm still seeing a lot of posts where people obviously still think it's 20mill !!

The reason they have this limit is purely to make Penniless an attainable trophy. :dunce:

Plenty of easy enough ways to get Penniless from any point in the game to be honest. I've thought about it a few times along the way. But I carried on saving away on the off chance I'd get a nice surprise at 20mill !! Alas...

Anyway to those defending PD. Don't bother. To those stating it's a poor design choice, you're right. From a coding standpoint I understand why the game probably has to have a cap. But the game having a credit cap that a user can become aware of is completely unneccessary. A bigint (8 bytes) will happily go all the way up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807. If that was the in-game cap, there is no way any of us this side of GT10 would even realise the game had a cap.

the miura costs 15,000,000, which means you will run out of cash if you want to go on a spending spree

GT5:Prologue - Most exspensive car cost 2.000.000 cr, cap was 2.000.000 cr.

That the same logic applies to GT5 that 20 million is the cap when the most exspensive car cost 20 million shouldn't come as a surprice ...

the red bull X1 is purchasable for 20,000,000 not 40,000,000 :)

Considering the game chucks multiple X1's at you though I have no idea why PD bothered making it purchasable :p Also really annoying that at lvl 30 you get a message to say the X1 is unlocked and available for purchase in the dealership, only to get there and find you have to be lvl 40 to buy it!!!

But back on topic. Have no idea what I will spend my 20mill on. Had no plans to spend any money any time soon (my spending bill currently consists of a Swift and a Vitz, and an oil change for my Minolta), was planning to just save and save and save :)

I'm shocked people haven't noticed this before. Yes it is nice to go spending credits but throughout GT you don't actually need to spend alot on buying cars, just mainly tuning them as you win the majority of the cars that you REALLY need. I realised this limit early on but as previously mentioned the "Prologue" had A limit so I wasn't too suprised. And as to the post on the X1 unlocking at level 30 and not able to buy it, YES this is ridiculous lol. But you can win 3 anyway :).

20 milion credits isn't that much really, consider all cars that has to be tuned etc.

Really, its very expensive booth to buy cars and tune them in Gt5, because the prices are wierd and tuning is as expensive for all car. As i wrote before 20 milion wouldn't be enough for me. I don't care, but if there is a easy way to get money (legally or ilegall) I wouldn't say no.

This isn't going to be an issue for me for a while yet (my most expensive buy was the 458 Italia), but this just adds to the mountain of other strange decisions PD has made in the game design.

What was Forza 3 cap? Didn't think it had one.
I do not think it does at least not for all intents and purposes. Depending on what kind of variable they used in the code there is always a cap but whatever it is it is really high. I have had 100 million in Forza 3 and I know people who have had more.

I know that in Forza 2 the limit that could be displayed on screen was 999,999,999 but you could have more than that it just did not display.

Oh man, yet another stupid, boneheaded design decision in GT5.

If there has to be a limit, something like 2,147,483,647 would have made a lot more sense (2^31 - 1, highest signed number that can be represented in 32 bits).

What irks me the most, I think, is this was obviously a conscious design decision, not a mere oversight.

In GT4 I have 212,544,210 credits on game day 13045. It's looking more and more like I'll never hit game day 1304 in GT5, much less 13045.

/me turns to my friend. Hands over the $20, "You were right, they will moan about anything"

Cap at $20 mil is fine, the only reason to save up $20 mil is to buy a $20 mil car, no point the cap being higher.

This is not cool, for those who wish to save up a 100 million and then pick a choice of cars should be able to do so. This will just mean as soon as you hit the cap you HAVE to spend it, otherwise the game has pretty much stopped.

So much for keeping the game alive eh?

It sucks you're Canadian and still this ignorant. You must have missed the original post. His reason is why the cap is rediculous.

This has been added to the list of **** this game has left to be desired. Weak.

The only real problems I see with it are

1: The 20 Million car will cost you a little more than 20 Million as it will be hard to hit 20 mil exactly and extra credits will disappear.
2: You will have to grind after you buy the car to buy tires for it.

that said if it needed to be 8 digits then it should have been 99,999,999

Don't you all fret the sweat.

This will most likely be fixed. Did you know Kazunori has said that from time to time, Standard cars would get a Premium treatment? This is all news now, but some of you might still not know.

I'm sure Kaz will look into this, as he wants to vastly improve the game.

You can say whatever you say, but there is no doubt GT5 gives you alot.

The only main complaint i have with this game, is that B-Spec and A-Spec are separate (Unlike GT4).
