I think this is more important that the thread I wanted to start, which I'll put in once this topic is finished.

DLC will be constantly flooding in, its a large part of the game now, and I think its logical for there to be a 'GT5 Downloadable Content' Board underneath the 'Gran Turismo 5' one.

And the thread I would put in there would be 'Most likely cars in the next DLC'

I think street cars will come again, we had so many race version of cars that already existed, but I think there will likely be more new cars, idk how many premiums, but the same amount wouldn't be impossible, depends if they are difficult to do or not (of the last four, two were virtually already there just tweaked, they other two had an identical engine, and very similar chassis), so if they are all individual, 4, individual cars I don't think is a big ask given the time frame.

There could also be some new tracks, again 4 seems like a good number.

What does everyone else think (About both things, the new section, and the new DLC).

All information about downloads and updates is in the news section. From what I'm aware all reports on DLC are archived so there wouldn't be much need to have a section covering it as it would just mirror content from the news page.

Not for news, just for general discussion, besides, news only covers a single topic, its too acute to cover all the possible topics we have and could have on DLC

I think most conversation about DLC goes on in the general GT5 section. There could well already be a dedicated thread specifically for DLC discussion although if there is I haven't come across it in there.

One thread wont be enough to cover every topic possible though, I still think we need a dedicated section for it

In that case, if you feel it's needed so badly, the thread should be in the Help Desk section. If enough people want the same thing then it may be granted depending on request.

If a DLC section is implemented I can just imagine how many wish list threads there would be.

+1 just to get them out of the other forums.

Thats sort of the point, I dont want heaps of DLC threads either (one mega sticky thread would be logical though), but if they are going to exist it may as well be in its own section.

Besides, doesnt everyone think that there are already enough topics on it to justify its own section? Thats my main original point.

I hate all these wishlist threads so I believe this would be a good thing all wishlists and discussion in 1 place would stop all the clutter in the main GT5 section. 👍👍

What should be in there? 1 topic?

Well look around this place; topics we already have and those we can imagine, aside from the obvious 'request' list, threads about individual cars, tracks, paint items ect, which ones you like or didnt, I cant think of many more off the top of my head, but I shouldn't have to list more than that above anyway. I think its pretty clear to the rational mind that it would be useful, necessary, maybe not, but it should be a section

Just make it a "Gimme Gimme" section. :p

That's exactly what it would become, though, please see GT5 forum for more detail.

While my re-direction was precise, yours is comical, there are legitimate reasons to have this section, and while there are also purposes that are undesirable, this may or may not be unavoidable depending on the alertness and promptness of the moderators.

There are some reasons to have the new section, but there's not enough of them to justify creating a new section that will probably STILL confuse everyone and that section will receive maybe 10% of the posts that are meant for it. It would make the moderators job harder, not easier.

It would certainly make sense and as mentioned, move some of the wishlisting type threads out of the main GT5 section.

On the contrary, by having more parameters in an equation instead of fewer, the people policing this forum could better define when and where certain topics are to be had, further more, there are enough topics to warrant this, we simply need it to be created so it may be utilized properly, I for one will be one of the first to write one of the first topics there.

EDIT: 3/4s of the people here seem to agree with me, a gran total of 20 people including myself, is there any number that would get any moderator to discuss this, and possibly aprove this idea with the owner/s of this great site?

I'm not saying there aren't enough topics but the DLC portion sort of goes hand in hand with the general game itself. There is already a guide that answers all DLC questions (and its stickied, no less). If the moderators feel that too many questions are being asked, then the guide can be updated with the new required information. Other than the questions asking about how to download the DLC (which has been covered in a few areas), what cars come with the DLC, and why it won't work (which more falls into a troubleshooting portion of the game itself, not really the DLC), many of the questions already would fall into a general Q&A section or the main GT5 section, both of which already receive their share of "lost" threads due to people not paying attention.

EDIT: 3/4ths but polls can be extremely misleading. And 20 people out of an estimated 200,000 users is still less than 1%. Granted, its in the main Help Desk section but 20 people isn't really a huge majority.

Yes I see your point, but all of these questions are asked in 'Questions and Answers', further more, simple general discussion on the DLC, what we like, is it worth it, which ones we have, whatever, all don't have a proper place to belong - what 'is' the harm in creating one? This is my further confusion, why do people oppose this idea? What 'is' the harm in it? Could it possibly make this place worse? If so how? How could adding this section make this place lesser? I understand that it isn't strictly necessary, how could it possibly be? But the requirement, while possibly only cosmetically desirable by some, is here none the less, I say create it, it should not be too much effort, if it proves too small to bother, simply move all of the threads (as few they will be in that case), delete that board, and move on.

At least it is in the right place. When Jordan has a look here, he will make his decision, having a squabble whether you agree on the matter or not wont make a difference.

There is no 'harm' in adding the new section. That isn't the point here. The point is is there enough of a reason to add the new section if many of the questions cannot be defined as solely a "DLC" question.

Where would you specifically put this thread, which suggests a future DLC?
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=237172

Or where would you put this one, which says there's a problem in the game that may be not a DLC problem but a simple PS3 issue that could have been covered?
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=237063

The point is that it would still confuse people to post in the wrong sections and that may add on to the work done (or needed to be done) by the moderators in order to keep the site in order.

Wouldn't one sticky on the gt5 section cover it though? What topics would it cover that's justifying a new section? Because all I can think of is a wishlist, dlc problems/update problems and update wishlist. All of which I think can be covered in 2 stickies if that. :)

You have asked and answered your own question, unwittingly or otherwise, both of threads you provided belong in the section which I suggest, which does not yet exist.

New DLC, Old DLC, DLC related problems, potential DLC, general DLC discussion, and many more topics that I can't think of, but it does warrant a section.

There are various and multiple possible topics, including ones already created which I won't go into now, but it is deserving of its own segment.

what topics? :) I am sure if you come up with them then people will be more willing to agree :)

Golf R vs. Scirocco R - new GT-R vs. old GT-R, new Cooper S vs. old Cooper S, things of that nature. Is the DLC worth it, why did you buy it? There are a hundred different questions to be thought of as you play the game, I can't possibly think of them all in the brief minutes I devote to this forum, but others will, and they will post them and they will be in the wrong sections, so it is logical to create the DLC section to properly contain all current and possibly future topics.

General DLC discussion differs from General GT5 discussion in what way? Because it has the word DLC in it or talks about DLC cars? Using that same notion, then each car could in theory have its own separate thread/section.

Please do tell, by saying you have topics that could go into the section but then you choosing not to divulge them doesn't really help people support your idea.

That's a push to have a new section created. All of those questions are Gran Turismo 5 Questions and there is a section already dedicated to it.

There's no need for it in my opinion. It's just another place for people to complain, and as said above it'll make the moderator's job's even harder.
