I just got home from a friend's house after about 5 hours of toying with FM4, and it really just made me wish that turn 10 and PD could collaborate on one, huge, near perfect game. If we could mix GT's physics and graphics with forzas car selection and racing ideas, I would gladly pay $100 for the game. The car list on forza is simply dynamic and the drag strip and top gear licensing are great, but not enough to surpass GT5. We could even let EA in for porsches. But a cross platform collaborative game should be a possibility, short of conflicting interest between the companies. Anyone think it could ever happen?

I don't think it would work. It would be like the English government at the moment, two parties in a coalition, both wanting different things, and in the end neither gets what they want.

 Matty that sounds like most big Western Gov'ts. Also I don't think the fans would go for it too well.

It would be about 99% unlikely. PD and T10 aren't OWNED by Sony/Microsoft that I'm aware of, but I think they're contracted...

No! Leave brgran turismo alone!

It's really a shame because if they could fit both games onto one disc (essentially) it would be nearly perfect.

I think an easier solution would be to cut both disks in half, glue them together and enjoy the best of both games. Just make sure you glue the graphics and physics from the GT5 half and the cars and features from the Forza half of the disk. Otherwise you wouldn't really accomplish much.

For the second time this week...

I don't think it would happen and as a big advocate of GT I really think T10 would take away from some of the magic that is so meticulously crafter by PD.
That's just my view anyhow.

If it did happen I would be interested to see the result but have a feeling that it would fall by my expectations just has GT5 has for some many who are now so accustomed to the work of other producers in the same genre.

^ See fans wouldn't like it and they rightfully so don't have to, that's how games advance, when there is competition to beat out. T10 and PD would do better against than together.

I think the competition is good. It allows for progression and evolution.

I agree, do you think we would get multiple patches and weekly seasonal if there was no Forza...

I guessing Spec II may have came a little later if it wasn't for F4 coming out around this time.

I appreciate that PD take their time with the production and development and I realise they still make mistakes. They have had, on the other hand, years worth of head start on T10 meaning what they pioneered with GT was largely the first of it's kind on a console. They set the benchmark.

T10 have had the foundations laid by PD and have matured very rapidly with the help of PD's ground work on the GT series which laid a path on which racing (non-arcade type) games have followed.

I've no doubt that T10 is a great developer with lots of talent but without PD would they have existed in the first place? On the flip side, would PD have upped their game without the threat of a rival company?

Competition between the two can surely only be a good thing. This is why, in my opinion, a collaboration would only hinder progress in the genre.

I agree that there has to be competition to force progression, but really all I want is GT5 with forza 4's car list and drag strip. Lol.

Gran Forzimo?

I think if PD just picks up what FM has been doing and PD has neglected we'd have just as good or better then "best of both worlds". :p

What if iRacing got tons of funding and just started getting every license of manufacture and racing series out there...PD and T10 would just pack up and run with the riches they have.

I would hate if Turn 10 took away the paint chips.

F4 has steering aids that cannot be turned OFF. After that, nothing really matters as the driving is wrecked. Keep MS away from GT at all costs.

Dunno about 4, but 2 and 3 both had...

Magically sand traps that if you put one wheel in them, they would magically slow you down faster than your brakes. The problem is, they didnt always look like sand traps, some were run off, others were grass.

I guess they were put in to stop 'cheating'. But since when has putting 1 tyre on the grass meant your bloke the laws of physics.

Forza could/should be the game. But as ever, games have to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

That happens with grip set to "real" in GT5 also. ;)

Not to the same extent. It does slow, but in FM3 it's like hitting a wall.

Insta slowdown from 100mph >40 in a second because you put one tyre on the grass? WTF

Apart from that FM has been good, however the first is still the best.

GT's physics are definitely far superior, but there are several things PD could learn from forza. Especially in car selections :P

If anything I'd like to see the guys from SimBin work on a few parts of Gran Turismo.

SimBin or iRacing (what once was Papyrus) cause then we'd have a proper racer, by professional standards that is.

PD is stubborn. All they need to do is tweak the AI so they are competitive and create better races. That alone would be a huge step in the right direction. I'll continue loving the GT series. But have given up all hope of PD turning GT into a true racing game.

Yeah it seemed that from the late 90s to mid 2000 is when GT were trying to be a true racer. I think they've just got eaten up in the corporate way of life and a game that sales is more important than a game with soul.
Then again GT6 for some reason seems to be PD making a true leap forward, but only the future will tell.

At least Konami and MGS haven't dissapointed me!!!

their selection of cars is ridiculous...i'm so jealous! look at all the ferraris, lambos, astons that they had...pd has those license why couldnt' we have those cars?!

Who knows, I still feel like there is something PD isn't telling the fans that happened during the GT5 development that made it to where there wasn't more premium modern cars.

I really don't like forza at all. The driving simulation is bad(at least on FM3). But I got to give you some credit, the car list e more balanced and HOTTER, and doesn't have thousands of mx-5 and skylines and NSXs(even that I love those cars). It would be great to have more european cars and more models, instead of having the same model from 1991, 1992,the 1993 Super Nur Type M Ultra Spec 823412 the 1994 US version spec 3424 Type S... I'm not complaining, I like these things but if I had to choose, I'd choose a more extended variety of models
