After jumping back into Forza 3 Tuesday, I had a rude awakening with that game. I didn't like it. Racing was a chore. It wasn't intuitive at all. The car didn't have much feel. Car and tires weren't communicating very much, in fact I felt quite numb and disconnected. And when I went into the Decal/vinyl group page, it took a full minute to load, and I was "flipping" through the list at a snail's pace - three seconds for each item! SlipZtrEm was doing his darndest to say F3 and GT5 both bogged badly, but I can sort through 100 items in 10 seconds with GT5, versus
five minutes in F3! Just ridiculous... and only Microsoft could get away with selling 360s at a near 70% failure rate for almost two years. And don't even mention EA to me, that other gaming monopoly.
I'm sorry, but MS just doesn't ooze quality or customer friendliness. Now Forza 4 may be the shiz, but why did we have to slog through three Forzas for T10 to get it right, assuming it is right? Just imagine if we got GT3 and 4 at this level, and then were still pulling our hair out with messed up stuff in GT5. Would you stick with it?
I know for some people, roaring engine sounds and endless customization of a power loaded car list = awesome racer, and kids can't get enough of "one button drift," as one real world drifter put it of Forza. And it's not that Forza doesn't have things to commend it to millions of racers, obviously, as they evidently find the car feel to their liking. But the issues and bugs, oh lawd... and the fact that I've been able to hop into most PC sims and feel remotely competent with a car, the same with Gran Turismo, but then take a 350hp modded sports car on racing tires for a spin after not doing a thing in Forza 3 for almost two years, and just keeping the car on the road at moderate speed wasn't working well because the car wouldn't talk to me and the driver views weren't the best.
I think this great divide between the games and consoles works just fine. They can pick each other's brains for things the other does well, like... well, Forza
basically is Gran Turismo with more American and supercars, but with its own feel and rhythm. PD can look at the extensive customization and livery editor T10 built.
By the way, you guys still grouching over "a thousand" Miatas, Skylines, Mitsus and Subis, if you take those " thousand" cars out of GT4 and 5, you still have well over 500 cars to choose from in GT4, and 700 in GT5. I guess this escaped you somehow.
