I take it we are running ALL Stock no new parts correct? How about Oil?

Thanks

We're doing this in arcade mode, so there is no oil change. The only performance modification is -10% weight. It's all in the Rules.

Green_flag, i was wondering since we'll have a horsepower penalty why don't we apply it so that we get a hot season from the start???:odd:

my GT4 disk is done for. ill try and make it for the sunday deadline. if not, ill defiantly be racing in Pre-race 2

edit:nevermind, i went out and bought a used copy for $10 at gamestop

edit: time submitted

Are you wanting the top open or closed?
Closed will give 5 AI opponents, Open only gives 1 which makes life easier.

Trial Mountain Forwards I presume?

What's the verdict on the legality of the concrete areas behind the rumble strips, particularly on the 4th, 2nd to last and last turns?

I presume you want the submissions by PM?
Any particular time on Sunday Aug 31st? It'll vary depending on where in the world you are.

I'm not trying to be difficult here, but if we're trying to compare times, it helps if the rules are clear and everyone is on the same page. ;)

It's a fun little combo though! 👍

*edit* Time submitted.

Perhaps due to the lack of updates and feedback during the week?
I asked several questions in my post above, and none of them were answered.
Also did you post a warning yesterday that the deadline was approaching?
Did you PM all the people that signed up to let them know a race was organised? If they're only subscribed to the Signup/Interest thread, and haven't revisited the Long Race Series forum, then there's no way they'd've known there's a race on.

I'm not criticising here, just making suggestions based on the way some of the other events here are organised. The organiser is generally quite active in clarifying rules and regulations throughout the week, or whatever duration the race deadline extends to and making sure that the people that have indicated an interest in participating are notified of a race in progress.

Anyway, I'll get my full replay posted later for verification, I'm just over an hour into another running of the Nurb' 4hr Endurance so it'll have to wait until I'm done with that. :trouble:

I guess I'm first in line for an HP penalty though.
When's the first race going up? I'm really looking forward to wringing the neck of that little MX-5 again!!!!

Bummer. Downloaded and tried to check Jimmy 10's replay, before I realised he's in a "Land Down Under" and therefore on PAL, whereas I'm an NTSC-ist! :dunce:

Oh well. Here's my replay for anyone that's interested (in NTSC format.)

Just out of interest, for those of you who submitted, what AI difficulty setting were you using? I settled on -2 as they're then slow enough to be passed easily from the start, but not so slow that you'll have to lap them during lap 5, which was happening if you go down below -5!
Also did anyone get any penalties? My run was penalty free, so I'm wondering if that was the difference?

I'm going to try and pull in a favour or 2 and see if I can get my replay made into a video for the PAL folks benefit. 👍

No penalties here. I didnt adjust AI and from memory made it inside the field before the first left hander.
Tried to be smooth and consistant.
Top was up, nice car, predictable, not much understeer but out of puff on back straight.
Will try harder to close gap to you smallhorses at next event. Awesome times.

Man i had problems accessing the internet this weekend :grumpy:
Sorry did not submit my times.
This is my time (if it matters)
Fastest - 1.45.588
Final - 9'06.496

See ya all next race!!

i think we all need to agree on an AI difficulty setting.

If you actually want competition from the computers you would have to set it at 8+. Any lower than that and its just dodging traffic, NFS style

Right on on difficulty...
I was racing myself as I passed all AI cars by first right turn

Smallhorses
"I guess I'm first in line for an HP penalty though. "

I think we should have one more warm up run as some of the kinks were not clear, and then decide on HP penalty. With all do respect Green_Flag :scared: 💡

Raz_10 i agree with you, With all do respect Green_Flag

Sorry i missed the dead line for submitting the lap time :(

I guess I should have made time for more than one go :indiff:. Not to make excuses or anything, but I have so much school work, so between that, GTPLMS, and this, I'm really going to be hurting for time.

I agree with raz_10 too.

Technically, it would have been legal according to the rules in post #1 here to run with the top open, thus giving you only 1 AI opponent to contend with. :sly: (I didn't though!)

Our goals here should be clear, are we racing each other for fastest total time & fastest lap times?, in which case getting the AI out of the way early is important, or are we going for the "Best" race?, which is subjective depending on what AI difficulty you use, someone who wins cleanly against AI of +10 difficulty should get more points than someone who chose AI of -10 difficulty even if the driver with easier opposition finished quicker.

Once this got up and running for the first preseason race I realized that this is alot more work than I thought it would be but I am going to do my best to make everything as easy as possible on everyone. With high school football I just don't have much time for this except on the weekends. I am going to try to stick it out though. If there is anyone that would be interested in helping me run this let me know. I am not sure if we will do another preseason race just yet because from what I have heard there was some confusion this past race. I will post either another preseason race or the first race Friday night. I will do my best this week to make everything as clear as possible.

^ Very nice lines. Left-foot braking seems to have its advantages.

In a well balanced, but underpowered car like the MX-5, left-foot braking is almost a must in order to maintain suitable momentum to get quick laptimes.

I also happen to love Trial Mountain as a track and use it as one of my 3 test courses for picking cars to use in the SFGTP events so I'm very well versed in the ideal lines for that course! :sly:
