My friend has agreed to help me tandom a-spec the 24 hours of Nurburgring Nordschliefe. We are going to do eight 1 hour and 30 mins sections each starting from 7:00am this Saturday (6th) and finishing at 7:00am on Sunday. Has anyone else tried tandom a spec sessions. At the moment we're testing our strategy on the Tokyo R246 300km Race. I was wondering what cars did you use for the 24 hours of the 'ring.
:scared: my turn to drive. thanks in advance for your help.
Matt

i had the same idea to do this with my brother, we both know the track well enough now so we,ll probably try it soon, p.m me 2 let me know how you get on vtec guyill be very interested, by the way what sort of cars race this race, are they full blown race cars or road or touring cars?

my freind aint got the patience or the skill

Shouldn't the stints be abit longer? Or don't you want to sleep/nap inbetween shifts?

Hopefully once I unlock the endurance hall (I'm slow ain't I :D) me and my mates will do 4hour shifts or something like that.

I just did a test 10 lap drive in my Audi A4 touring car with stage 3 N/A Tune. I was pitted against a Calibra touring car, a Spoon S2000, a M3 GTR Race Car, a Mercedes Evolution Touring Car and a C West Razo Silvia so it isn't hard to find a car that will outpace them. After a 2 lap drive in the a4 I had pulled out a big enough lead to pit in and still hold around a 15 second lead. I'm taking tomorrow to get loads of sleep and to test the car and adjust the settings unless I get any siggestions on my thread in the settings forum. I've taken part of this evening to test tires and have discovered that you can drive 2 laps on the 'ring with racing/mediums on the rears and racing/softs on the front. We're aiming for 1:30.00 shifts but by around midnight on saturday im assuming that will start to lose consistency.
I'll keep you all posted on what happens up towards the race and when i get time between my shifts.
Wish us luck! LoL

good idea but watch your ps2 not burning :scared:

good luck and be strong :)

I'm filling up on coffee all day on the day I start it but have yet found a way of keeping my ps2 cool. I was thinking of maybe just putting it on a stool in the middle of my room and leaving the window open (during the day). At night i'll just leave it on the stool to let all the cool air circulate through it all.
thanks for luck wishing

Bah, i'm going to try do the whole thing by myself over a couple of days. :)

I've been racing for .... 5 hours non-stop now. Total time is 11 hours.

I want to sleep but I want to finish the race!

I'm using the Impreza Touring Car. (EASY!)

I'm yet to reach the endurance races but how the hell am i gonna play 24 hours straight? I have no pals that are as fast as me so i'll have to run'em for about 3 days. Gotta pray the PS2 holds when i'm sleeping or in college

I've just found out that i cant do it this weekend. I need to get my haircut and i'm going to my dads for the weekend. After this weekend im back at school and my gcse exams are soming up so i dont know when or how im going to make time for it now. This weekend was the perfect oppurtunity.
i'm so p***ed off coz i've been cofiguring the car and prepping for it.
The only way i can think of doing it now is leaving it on bspec whilst im at school on friday and do 12 hours into the morning but that is nowhere near as fun.

Good Luck Vtec Guy,

Let us know how you go and how you coped with the dawn shift :-)

We are doing it downunder April 23rd, 4-6 drivers 2hr stints Apsec only in the Falcon V8 Supercar (just so we can catch back up to the field when real life B Spec drivers, who I hope dont read here are in the seat), so 3-4 competent A speccers and 3-4 novices will be interesting :-)

thanks, does anyone know when the next bank holiday is here in the uk? or the next 3 day weekend or something?

going to write up my BSpec nurb 24 hours... wasnt all that good or easy lol

I feel really rough. Clock says 13:43, and I really wanna go to bed.

I used the Minolta.
Easy enough.
Started in A Spec , but its pointless doing 24hr races in A Spec when you realize A spec Points dont do nothing for ya. so i quickly moved into B Spec , had the 24hr race done in about 10 hrs.

i'm considering doing a 12 hour non tandom effort because i cant think of anywhere to fit in 24hours after that delay. 12 hours is still a hell of a lot racing time. Props to Eliminos. What car did you use? sorry if im keeping you awake lol.

'My friend and I' are going to tandem Aspec the 24 hour race. thank you.

Unlucky Vtec, i seem to be the only person reading the thread,
Unlucky About not getting time, but thats life, ive wanted to do le sarthe
but my whole memory card collapsed.

But Well Done Eliminos, Silent hero, Keep Going Mate, Im Right behind You, 👎

Red Bull, it gives you wings :) Just don't drink too much of it or you'll get the jitters. Get some of lthat powerbar/clifbar gel if you need sustenance.

It's fun to see the limits of ones endurance sometimes. GL with the rest of your race.

14:12, I've had a nap, and I'm listening to DVDs to keep me awake.

Jack Dee Live, Family Guy, you name it, I'm listening to it.

I'm gonna go get some red bull when I can be bothered

oops, forgot to include my car

The Subaru Impreza Touring Car. 48 a-spec points apparently. 3 laps ahead.

B-Spec around the 24 hour enduro's only last 8 hours when u X3 it. I cant remember what car I used but it was around 500bhp so not to much for the track or the opponents. Lasted 8 laps till I had to pit in. I wont it by around 13 - 20 laps to 2nd who was in a Chapperal 2J. Even though he was faster he went two laps to long when he needed to pit. He was doing donuts around most of the corners. I wouldnt do the Nurburgring 24Hr in A-Spec even if you paid me. But the prize is cool. A 2003 or 2004 Ferrari formula one car (which im sure no one at Polyphony will confirm as Ferrari dont like there cars being used). But Polyphony can claim its the Sauber so Ferrari cant do aything. Good Luck in ur quest to finish the Nurburgring 24Hr.

'My friend and I' are going to tandem Aspec the 24 hour race. thank you.

I honestly dont care about spelling or grammar. Everyone else managed to understand it so i could do without the pointless replies.

thanks to everyone else for the tips and support.

i did it with one of my friends, he isnt the most skilled driver, but he can hold the lead (mostly), but he do use way more tyres then me

but we changed every 1 or 2 pitstop
i was running -5 sec average on the 2nd place
he was running +3 average on the 2nd place

we never lost 1st place

using the BMW M12 LMR, I got like 2 laps out in front before lap 10. almost 6 hours into it, must have sleep i wouldnt worry about the playstation being on to long as ive had mine on since Feb 13 no bs and its in a compartment under my tv. anyway good luck all

Done the 24 hour Nurb race too. Just me and a pal. It does get a wee bit repetative after a while he he. We used the BMW race car by the way, and for all who worry, the ps2 does NOT overheat. Mine is the slim version, and it has the "electricity-transformer-bit" on the outside. The spinning of the disc does not generate enough heat to cause a terminal meltdown. My ps2 has been on for waaay longer than 24 hours.
