Care to tell me just how quickly? It seem to be a rather slow kind of quick, as I have had mine on for a good deal more than a weekend... Here comes the surprise: it still works fine. No ill effects. Whatsoever.

good call on the red bull.

I feel fine now, I have 2 more cans, ready to do ANOTHER all nighter

and I'm getting 48 a-spec points I think...

I coulda got more, but i couldn't find a car that felt right on the ring but was less powerful than this impreza

and I'm 14:36 through (I took a walk to get the red bull and pepsi)

Why is everyone so concerned about there playstation overheating?

The PS2 gets probably gets to its operating temp within 15 min...and the fan should keep it at a constant temp from then on....

My PS2 has been on for days and i have never experienced..locking up or shutting down or what not...

It was a concern at first but now I dont seem too worried. Thanks for the info guys.

150 laps done

18:20 hours done.

And I fell asleep when I went to get a break and watch TV for 30 mins, and ended up snoozing for a long time.

Keep it going eliminos, The Bull works Wonders, 6 hours left mate, come on all out A-spec 👍

hey goodluck Eliminos and vtec_guy.Eliminos family guy and red bull works wonders.vtec_guy i hope you get the chance. ad good luck!

kyle out

Thanks dude. From what i've read so far it sounds really exhausting. I think i may have to top up on the bull (since they endorse the car i'm using) as well as coffee. When I finish my shifts I think im gonna have to dip my face in cold water to keep me awake too (works when i need to wake up at 5:00am to go racing at brands hatch) lol. Keep it going Eliminos and let us know how it went in the early hours. If possible could you leave buy some tips of the trade to help me and pass on to other racers that attempt this. Thanks for the support guys. Let me know when you try it so I can cheer you on too.

Just out of interest, when is mayday exactly? i know its in may but which day? because if we get the day of school then I will be running to my room to get the race started.

You guys are crazy. Spending TWENTYFOUR straight hours on a console??
When I saw the 24hr race I thought it wouldn't be really 24 hours but now I guess it is...
I ain't got the patience for that, I'd rather get drunk with my buddies lol :D

i and my mate Jon done it (24hr nurburgring endurance)

I started and drove for 4hrs, before swapping and sleeping or keeping myself occupied by listening to music or playing the Gameboy.

After his 4hrs, we switched, and jon slept etc.

Both done three 4hr shifts and won. We didn't want to obliterate the opposition, so we done it in a BMW M3 GTR Race Car, against a field of Falken Skylines, Alfa Romeo touring Car etc.

In the end, I think we only won by 1 min 37.6secs, as my mate jon didn't know the track, so he messed up our times a lot. Great fun, and emptied the entire contents of the fridge!

what time did you start?

6.30 am then ran continuously until 6.30am next day, and the PS2 was fine, although at one point it made a funny noise, but I hit it on the side and it continued to work fine.

We are now considering doing the 24hr race on Circuit de la Sarthe, but if we do I'll tell you our progress as it happens

Thats Quality Mate, Im seriously thinking about something like this.
Nice One for the mini-Write up aswell,

👍

YES!

i did it, finally.

It was by no means non-stop, but i did it, by myself, in full aspec mode, in 196 laps.

and my f1 car is.... green and yellow.

Believe me, it is very draining and tedious and slightly boring, but if you treat it seriously like you have to do it for real, it is good fun, and an excuse to drink and eat lots. But, I wouldn't use the Logitech official GT4 steering wheel, as in the 24hr (12hr each) it shakes so much that you could probably risk getting Parkinsons disease. Plus, I feel the controller gives a much more direct feel anyway.

PS - Don't drink Alcohol whilst doing it...for obvious reasons. Also, make sure a Toilet is nearby. but for that real hardcore experience, don't go to the Toilet on your shift, so you have to hold it or risk pissing yourself whilst you drive.

This didn't happen, cos we regularly went to the Toilet when not driving so we didn't need to whilst we were driving.

PPS - Do it on a 52inch TV like we did. Yes, it risks burning the rear projector out, but it didn't for us, but I can't gurantee all hardware used in this mammoth task will work properly after completion...

(ie/ PS2 could burn out, TV get very hot and burn out, run out of food in Fridge, run out of Water, a Power Cut halfway through or at the end would be a bummer as well)

uhhhh no it didn't. I mod ps2 and I know for a fact that the PStwo indeed have a fan, its more on the line of a blower design, but it does its job.

I left my slimline on for 31 hours before turning it off, and it worked fine. also if you have a moded ps2/pstwo slimline, I recomend you take the top cover off while you are doing the 24 hours race, this will atleast give you better cooling and peace of mind.

great job Eliminos that must of been exasting. vtec_guy it looks like your chance is coming up. I will try it the weekend (stupid rental :grumpy: ) any way good luck

I am going to do the same with 3 friends, a bit more realistic actually, as more 24 hour teamings have 3 team-mates. One of my main focus points leading up till then is getting used to manual on the ring, as I usually use automatic, as I tend to not be able to multi-function on the remote.
