The stealth model has it on both sides in the garage but the normal has it only on the left side. How weird

This is what is so annoying with PD and their time consuming premium models. They claim to spend 6 months of man hours on each one and render everything in high detail down to the stitched of the leather yet still get rather simple outer visual details wrong.

Actually, if I'm right in saying, that the 'leather stitching' is just a preformed texture fitted round a model- not difficult.

Secondly, you seem to be over-exaggerating the situaiton. How is it "so annoying", as you put, that there are minute inconsistencies? What else would you expect?

Give them some leeway!

Everybody seems to be misunderstanding my comment. I'm not bothered by the issue brought up in this thread nor any other similar tiny issue, what I'm getting at is that they spend so long making these models you would expect them to get everything right. If they aren't, it's annoying that they spend so much time on them. Tone down the crazy detail that we can't even see making it quicker to produce a car so we can have more of them.

I mean the people T10 outsource to clearly don't take as long as PD do to create a model but take their models and add PDs superior lighting/texture engine to them and would anyone moan about the detail of them in GT5? Some may nitpick but I'd assume most would be happy with the pretty high standard and quicker turnaround.

If you're already complaining about two miniscule numbers not being visible (and other people), as well as the number of people pointing out other petty mishaps, I'm sure the forums would be in uproar if PD filled GT6 with cars of Forza's level of detail. It would be more of a downgrade than accidently missing a few pixels in a barely visible place.

I agree with SimonK about the time taken and hence the sheer attention to detail that should be present.

Maybe certain nit-picky errors in other cars are caused by modelling the cars based only on die-cast scale-models or something...

I 'class' the SLS as one of the 'decently to well modelled' premiums, along with many others that don't get certain details right. (All of the Prologue-era models are also in here thanks mostly to their static dashboard displays. Their exteriors are mostly spot-on perfect.)

I feel the biggest issue pretty much all recent racing games with licensed road-cars face is the visual modelling of wheels and tyres.
Perhaps it's due to the detail in the rest of the exterior reaching the point where it could be confused for real life in the right conditions.

Also, the things I pointed out in my previous post don't seem to be as obvious on the 'Stealth' model.

Note: I don't really like visual modding so I don't know much about the aftermarket rims.

Maybe PD messed with it, the same they unintentionally the GT Auto.

I'm NOT complaining about the errors, I'm saying that if they spend so long making these cars and they do still have errors is it worth the time spent on them? The time they spend on these cars in the reason we only had 200 of them in GT5, if they spent less time trying to perfect them we would end up with more, still with the same minor errors.

The high level of detail used when making GT games will never change. The level of detail will always be great and to many people, that's a good thing.

👍 +9000!!!

That quality is one of those things that is like a "signature" from PD team...

But their priorities are clearly not optimised because they're not churning content out fast enough. If they had the workforce to create premium cars to insane levels of detail and still create 500+ of them whilst also creating the rest of the game then fine. But clearly they've been spending far too long on the new PS3+ quality cars and the rest of the game suffered.

They were hiring some time ago, i believe there are still some available. Im just guessing, but maybe they are planing to develop better, faster, louder.
Remember that they are only +-150, and we dont know how is the internal organisation of PD.

Maybe they have lawyers? desginers, online staff, mathematicians, engineers, Translator-San!

They are working maybe "as fast as they can"

That's what I mean, with a workforce that small they can't afford to take so long on the cars. Jakhole posted in another thread that modelling the 200 premium cars took 60% of the entire development time. That's too much, and it clearly hindered the rest of the game.

It seems pretty obvious to me that if they're not willing to significantly upgrade their workforce or outsource some of their work then they don't have the capacity to build cars to such extreme detail.

60%? Holly cow! and the development of the tracks?

I dont see plausible the outsourcing of their modeling.but the sounds, photos from cars and tracks, negociations deals could be partially outsourced. With a PD inspector to watch that it match the Jp quality.

Soo with the crew +new ones, could stay at home, in PD offices, more people working directly on the product, instead of "wasting" time and money on flights all over the world.

What he posted:

At one of the desks, there was a guy touching up details on the complex model of a Ferrari. It was a delight to see him work, slightly altering the model in three dimensions using high tech design tools. Yamauchi said that within the total time of game development, modeling cars has consumed 60 percent of available resources. Without doubt, they have wanted to give this issue top priority, and it was revealed in the space occupied by the modeling division, well over half the total team.

So yes, something certainly needs to change at PD. Whether it's less crazy detail in the cars, much greater resources or outsourcing, something needs to change. Otherwise I can't see how we're not going to be disappointed again next time around.

Its amazing how you ask something and it turns into another debate. Typical

Turn 10 does it and it shows: 10 DLC cars every month since November, which means this May they'll have 100 "premium" and "unique" more cars, including 40 to be added that month (Top Gear pack and 30 porsches).

Don't know about other companies.
