Whatever happened to this:

Whatever happened, I hope it stays that way!

The front looks great but the rear makes me want to wretch.

That will be fun to get out of when it rolls over....

Actually, I reckon you could at least crack it open enough to climb out... given the hinges maintain integrity. Not as bad as scissor doors.

I have a feeling that the DOT over here in the states will think that the gull wing doors will impede escape incase of a roll-over.

Which means the car will have to change (which is dumb because it's supposed to be gull wing) or the car can't come here.:(

Maybe change the doors to Ford GT like?

^As much as that is a valid idea, it defeats the purpose of why the car is built the way it is: To revive the heritage of the old Mercedes 300SL. And the gull wings is what made that car special.

Its pretty, almost all the way around, but I agree with Omnis that the rear is a little wonky. I don't hate it, but the way the roofline goes out just seems... Odd.

Hmm I thought it was butt ugly in the leaked pictures of the white version. But these official images made me change my mind about, I quite like it!

That front is great, but that rear is pretty different. Which is certainly not a bad thing, but I think it'll take a little bit to understand it fully and appreciate it.

It looks like a Hardtop Convertible, not a gullwing coupe.

First the Scirocco, now this. Have the Germans forgotten the meaning of "Fastback?"

WOW i just love it. It looks awesome, classic style with a new sauce...
Just hope they will keep it sporting...

As some before have posted, the new pics make the front seem great. Low and wide, it looks really aggressive, and even the lights work.

The back however.... what's up with the B/C pillar????

Wow, does look a whole much better in these official shots rather than those leaked white ones. Im still unsure about those headlights though.

Aaaarrrgggghhh it's horrible! One of the worst Mercs in decades. Looks like something a rich Arab would build for himself.

Dodge Viper body with gull wing doors. GTR headlamps and tacky Benz three point star at front of BMW Z4 bonnet.

and the roof screams old RT-10 Viper..

It reminds me of the Viper in that aspect too. The initial mules for this car used a lot of Viper panels and i thought that would likely be changed for the production version. Looks like somebody forgot about that bit :dunce:

This might be the first time ever in history that the convertible version of a car looks better than the coupe

I think it looks stunning from every angle, especially at 45° to the front. The rear is minimal, smooth and stunning in my eyes.

That's even worse. Then you really can't get in or out.

The c-pillar is the roll bar. That's why the glass doesn't flow back around it.

That was the first prototype of the new "Gullwing" :

Although it looks pretty much like the Alfa 8C Competizione, I like it more than the actual prototype.👍 Why did they have to change it?

Unfortunately that was just a photoshop of what someone expected the SLS gullwing to look like.

It's awful-looking. The front end is leaden, the rear is pinched awkwardly, and the side profile looks like an E-Type (as in, it's obviously for physical compensation) only worse. It's a mess; another design-by-committee. I'm sure there's a definite reason we don't know who actually designed it. They're either ashamed (as they should be) or there is no one designer.

I'm sure it drives just fine, though.

I have to say, that based on the styling alone, I like it. It's probably the only example of an homage or retro styling that the designers have actually executed well that I can think of.

I have to say that it looks pretty nice. 👍 My only major gripe is that the roofline looks a little too flat. :odd:
