News is out that Mercedes' EQ sub-brand could be dead as early as 2024. Subsequent Mercedes electric cars will just carry on the name of the equivalent ICE car (eg: EQS becomes just S-Class), as Mercedes phases out ICE cars altogether.

I think a lot of manufacturers really messed up their naming schemes during this transitional phase. It makes sense that they will retire the EQ branding when eventually all cars will be electric
