People are doing a lot with their duratecs at tauruscarclub.com

Well a lot is a pretty relative term, but it's better than nothing I guess. Even better, sell it to someone and get a 1st gen DSM;)

As for the 400hp, I don't see that happening. Unless you go full race, it's not going to, sorry man. 400 horsepower is a lot, at least double the stock number, and controlling that power coming out of the front wheels is going to take quite a suspension and a brand new wheel/tire setup. I wish I could say it's good to go, but I just don't see it happening.

U can put a 3.0 liter swap from a ford taurus for like 700. Or a svt swap from a contour.

Heres a pic of my pops

I would try to swap the supercharged 3.8L V6 from a '89-'90 real Cougar if you want to just leave the car front-wheel drive. If you're gonna convert to rear-wheel drive you can't go wrong with a 5.0L V8. Just install a 347 stroker kit to add some cubes to the motor and some top-end motor work stuff and you can see 400 hp easy. But if you're new to modding cars I wouldn't suggest trying to convert to rear-drive by yourself it can be complicated.

I wouldn't mind having a newer Cougar as a daily driver but honestly I would rather be modifying '89-'97.

If you look around you can find a '91-'93 rear wheel drive 5.0L HO Cougar XR7 for just a couple grand. I would suggest just using the newer Cougar as a daily driver and looking for one of the 5.0L Cougars and modifying that. They're fairly nice cars when taken care of. But seriously ask anybody who knows anything about Ford V8s -- You can see 400 hp with a 5.0 easy.
