None of you scrubs picked this up? Weaksauce.

I've been playing the hell out of it.
Mine's still in the mail.

Are there any bonuses for having a MGS3 game save with Stealth Camo, or anything? That would be nice, but not necessary.

Unfortuneately absolutely none whatsoever.

The only use the saved games serve is to unlock all of the secret theaters. First you must begin a new game on Disc 1, and select "I like MGS3" from the options. After you save, you can reset, and you will have access to all of the extras, like the Demo Theater on Disc 1, the Secret Theater on Disc 2, and Snake vs. Monkey, also on Disc 2.

My opinion of online is rather mixed right now.

It's HIGHLY enjoyable, when played with the right people.

Unfortunately, that is not always the case. I have had many occasions where I am winning, and a player from the opposing team, will die, switch sides, and team kill people. Even if you turn team kill off and friendly fire off, they can still hinder your progress with grabs and CQC...so I have already black listed some people.

HOWEVER.

You can set up rooms and meetings iwth people, as I have, and give the room a password, to prevent things like that from happening.

But all in all, it's really enjoyable, simple at first, but if you're sneaky, it's REALLY fun.

A lot of people just tend to run around and kill, and they get killed. I get killed as well, but I also tend to use standard MGS tactice.

i.e. I'll hide on a wall and when someone blasts past me I'll shoot them in the back and then move to another location, racking up kills.

So far though, I've only manage to get a 9 man killing spree....a friend of mine has gotten as high as 23...yes...TWENTY THREE. He's a monster, LOL.

I made it up to 62 on the top 100 for the Capture the Flag Missions online. It's really fun playing those, I'm not really too fond of other missions though :(.

Tips for those who want to be good: (note, this is for games of 4 or less, anything more is stupid anyway).

TURN MUSIC OFF. Foot steps are the BIGGEST give away, you hear everyone RUNNING around, just pay attention to your radar and you can tell if it's an enemy or teammate.

USE THE BOX. First off, make sure the opening is faced towards a wall, thsi makes it hard to see people in the box, and you're safer this way. You have no idea how many people just run past boxes because everyone else just runs and kills. Wait in your box, they'll run past you, SHOOT THEM IN THE BACK. Sometimes it's better if it's wide open, and they might look at you, wait a second, if you lie there, they will probably just run away. Shoot them.

AVOID FIRE FIGHTS. If you just go on a fire fight rampage, you'll probably end up only getting on kill before you die. If you wait for a kill, you can live to fight another day.

If you happen to see it, GRAB the M63. It is by far the BEST weapon in the game. It stuns like mad, and literally EATS health. This is probably my favorite weapon by far. Not always easy to come by, but when you have it, it just makes you feel manly as ****.

KNOCK. Any time I'm in a hallway (factory or lab levels) then I use the walls and echoes to my advantage. You haev no idea how many people will just RUN into their death. Knock, peek the corner, and then if they are running your way, cap their ass, they'll have to react before they can kill you, and you'll probably win.

Well, those are my simple tools for now, if you're in a 2 v 2 game it'll be a ton of fun.

Have you gotten the flame thrower yet? If so, what's it like?

I hear that the Stealth Suit is crap. It doesn't work like in the game. But, it is effective sneaking up to and getting the Kerotan, if that makes any sense.

Is that the suit that lets you be invisible? 1up.com's video podcast showed it in action. It's so not fair.

"Kerotan"? Sounds like a nickname for a frog. :D

Solid - Yea, I've used the flame thrower, pretty much it's like this, if you get hit and they keep shooting flames, you're dead. You can almost consider it one hit kill, but the range really sucks.

As far as the Stealth, it works exactly like in the game, the only difference is that it's battery powered, so you can't use if allll the time. It really doesn't hinder gameplay, because it's fairly easy to see the gun floading around in mid air, and auto aim negates any other factor that would otherwise make it difficult. I usually turn special characters off anyway so it doesn't matter.

As far as the difference between the two games, the only difference is that the LE comes with a special 3.5 hour directors cut of MGS3 turned into a movie.

All in all, the stealth suit isn't broken, and the game sucks online if you play with more than 4 people in a room.

Finally! I get my copy of Subsis and Saga in the mail today. I didn't have time to watch it yet, thanks to about 10 screaming nine-ten year-olds running around my house for the past three hours (it's my son's tenth birthday, and he has some friends over, but his party is on Saturday.) My wife just came home, and took them all out for pizza, but I'm staying behind to play Saga and Subs for a bit before they come back. Plus, I have a headache the size of Pluto right, and can't even begin to deal with dozens of the little snot-monsters running around, screaming like loons at the pizza parlor.

The day to finally receive it, huh? The PS3 info coming in; Black demo; son's birthday; but, enough yammering. So, here I go!

Bump

Is anybody playing this game besides tha_con and me?

I started a game, and was horrible. I got shot a bunch of times by the first few guards you meet. I had forgotten what buttons to push to capture, interrogate and thrown down the guards. I made a real mess of myself. He-he.

It's coming back to me now, after practicing in the Duel mode, which is sweet. I totally spanked The End on my first trip out, and scored a 116, 290. However, I need to find a better technique to fight The Pain. I can't even make the third spot. I always shoot, dive, swim away to other side, pop up and shoot again, etc. What should I do to improve my time? I use grenades and stun grenades and the shotgun. But, once he starts throwing bees and hornets on me, I dive and swim to the other side of the cave. Obviously, this is the wrong technique, because it wastes so much time. What should I try?

If you have raindrop camo, just swim to the bottom, and you can watch him, swim to the top, toss a stun grenade, then swim a little then come up and shoot him. Usually the stun grenade (when close enough) will shake all the bees off him and leave him open.

Also, it's best to not use anything lethal, stun grenades and tranq's get you a higher score IIRC.

I've been playing, I was all over it, new camera = ownage. I haven't been seen once, I'm at the end of the game right now, well close to it, no alerts so far. Gonna get that stealth camo the first time though.

Really, the toughest part for me to not get seen so far was the damn first time you meet EVA and get ambushed by the Ocelot unit...I hate that part.

Just beat the game, 7:15 and got the IPF, Stealth Camo, Tux, and Patriot all in one run through. *whew*. It sure is fun getting no alerts *dry joke*. It was tedious...but still fun :)

I noticed you didn't get the camera and the SAA. I'm going for all that plus Infinity face paint as well. I also want all face paints and camos. I still have to beat the duel mode to earn the green face paint, which earns you infinite grip level. I already have the brown face paint. I'm also going for all plants and animals, which includes the Tchsinenko (sp?) "Turd" Snake, The End's parrot and the three snakes during The Boss fight. This will earn you the EZ gun, which I find very fun to shoot.

I'm going for all frogs, too. So far, (I'm in water outside the cave) I came across one frog that wasn't in the same place he was in MGS3. Other than that, so far all the frogs are where I remembered.

The new camera is fantastic, people. It's so much better than before, but I still use the old camera angle when I get confused or a bit lost. But, that almost never happens.

I started on EASY, since I planed to do all levels except VERY EASY. No sense in playing that level because you don't get the Stealth Suit in that game. I plan to work my way up to the Europe Extreme level. On Easy, the bosses seem much easier to beat. I can tell how Konami made it easier for people to beat this game. I can only imagine how VERY EASY level is. If you can't defeat the game on that level, it means you're deaf, blind or too young to play this game, (or too old, heh.)

Oh, tha_con, can you still defeat The Fear's stamina level with the AK-47, or did they fix that bug?

I dunno, I've never used that method. I always snag about 4-5 poison tree frogs before I fight him (you can find them in the same area you fight him in the first time) and then during the fight toss them all down in the middle and he'll eat them after about three shots with the MK22. Makes it really easy to beat :).

As for the SAA and Camera, I got both, but they aren't items you ahve to "work" for, they are gimmies, so I didn't list them. And I got the EZ gun and all camo's (though I think I missed a few face paints).

You know if you capture a Tsuchino you can get the IPF as long as it's in your inventory right? I usually capture the first one at Bolysha Past South with the mouse trap, takes about 5 minutes (make sure you tranq all the guards). After that, keep it alive in your inventory until you get your stuff taken, then you'll have to capture it with the MK22, it's right outside of the "Behind Waterfall" area where you meet EVA to get your gear back.

And remember to remove your transmitter, because avoiding those ocelots is a PAIN in the ass if you don't...

I was never able to do it, but there was a video of some guy doing it. The link works, but the video link doesn't. I just got done beating The Fear, and The End. The Fear went down in three shots. Two to get him to look for food, and one to finish him off after he ate some Fly Agarics and
Posinous Frogs.

The face paint most often missed is the Water FP. You have to go back to get it after fighting The Fear. I just now realized I forgot to get it myself. It's all the way back at the Cave Entrance in the water. I'm nearly at the top of the Mountain, and can't go back to get it. But, I saved a game after beating The End, so I can go back if I want. I don't want to.

Another face paint often missed is the Kabuki. It's found in the waterfall pool, down at the bottom. You have to get it after meeting with Eva in the cave. Same place you get the Turd Snake.

Here's a list of Face Paints and Uniforms and their location.

Later, it can be caught with a tranq. weapon in Tikhogornyj after you meet up with Eva behind the waterfall. (Note: After you capture the Tsuchinoko, do not kill or eat it. Yea, the only two face paints I missed were actually water and Kabuki, and I always miss the "fly" camo, simply because it's a little pointless, maybe I'll get it on my next playthrough...it's just kinda fun messing with the guards when you're in stealth, lol.

Fly is only good for when you get caught interrogating a guard. Normally, the guard who catches you, comes after you with a knife to free his fellow guard. The Fly camo stops him in his tracks because of the horrible smell.

Hornet Uniform is fun, but you put yourself at great risk so I don't often use it. To control hornets with it, stand directly under a hornet's nest and shoot it while wearing the Hornet Uniform. The hornets swarm your head, but don't sting. They'll go after any other human you come near, and chase them off. It works great, when it works. But, you need to get close to the person you want the hornets to go after and that puts you at risk. Useless, but fun.

BUMP

I finished my game already. Took me 11 hours. The first time I played MGS3, it took a little over twenty 22 hours. Right now, I'm on my second game already, and got the one item I was missing, the water face paint.

When I finished, I got the Camera, Tuxedo, SAA, Patriot, EZ Gun, Infinity Face Paint and the Stealth Camo. The only items I'm missing are the Banana Camo, Monkey mask, Green Face Paint and the downloadable camos. I wont get the downloadable camos until I get a PS3.

Are any of you playing online? I set up a test account to get used to the online dynamics, but pretty soon I'll be running around as 'the_cobbinator.' Post up your names, and maybe I'll see you sometime.

I wont be playing online unitl I get a PS3. I have an old PS2 without an online adapter. I see no need to spend 40 bucks on something I wont use for more than six months. I'm patient, so I can wait. Plus, I'm not crazy about playing online in the first place.

Same here, I'll play it online when I get a PS3. I haven't got MGS3:SE:S yet, it's not out until sometime next month over here.

Yeah, I guess. It was definately worth the $18 I spent to get hooked up. The ol' employee discount sure came in handy :). I also don't plan on buying the PS3, at least not right away. College doesn't pay for itself, after all.

I'm playing Metal Gear in the second Subsistence disc, and I'm stuck.

I beat the Shotmaker and Machine Gun Kid. I need to go to the roof and jump down. I have the parachute but I don't have a bomb suit. The wind keeps blowing me back. I went through every level to find it, going back to the start. There are several doors I can't open. My card door level goes up to 3. I cannot finish the game as is without that stupid bomb suit. Where the hell is it? I've given up looking.

I searched online for a walkthrough, and couldn't find one. However, i did find walkthrough for the bosses. It said to pick up the bomb suit from Shotmaker after you kill him. No suit was left behind. I went back there. No suit. Now what?

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: No, I wont. I figured it out.

But, now I'm stuck on "ENEMY UNIFORM." What uniform? According to a walkthrough, I was suppose to get one when I defeated Machinegun Kid. Nope. I didn't get anything. Now what?

EDIT II: Never mind, I found that, too.

Anyone playing MGO?

I've refrained from playing with large amounts of people, and have been sticking to either 1 on 1 or 2 v 2, occasionally a 3 way death match. It's really fun when played that way.
