Wild, space-age plastics! I imagine they will end up putting sidewalls on them because the aerodynamic drag must be ferocious.

I wonder if this is in response to US federally-mandated tire pressure monitoring requirements? They don't need to monitor tire pressure, because there is none to monitor?

They won't work for autocross... no way to adjust the stiffness without replacing the tire.

they did not invent it because of tyre pressure monitoring issues, but because they wanted to create a tyre that had none of the drawbacks of a tyre.

Hell Raiser
I doubt it,and if it did work it would be give the word STIFF a new meaning

  i thought about that they would have to be stiff so the alloys didnt scrape the ground round a corner + would be a killer on ride comfort

How the hell does the tyre stay on the alloy, its basicly air pressure that keeps a normal tyre on a wheel???

Well,they did say it's a wheel /tire combo,so i'm sure it's not your normal wheel.Something like the TRX wheels/tires combo,that they had in the early 80's

Looks bonded on some how on a flat special rim as the new tyre doesnt require to hold a bead.

Sounds like a good idea to me. From what I know about the F1 regs though, they tend to prohibit this sort of extreme innovation.
