I'd be more interested in next year. I think I'm done with the road trips for this year. The ol' bank account still hasn't recovered from the last one. And I know it gets gnarly cold up there during winter, and it's already started, so it'd probably be best to wait a while.

Yes next year would be better for me especially during the summer. Right now I am down to 40 hours from 60 and just dont have any money for anything. By next summer I will be all set again. Plus the weather is much more enjoyable in the summer. After memorial weekend. June, July, or August would be a good time.

You're just skeered of getting jumped by a bunch of Michiganders.

Me neither, for a bit. Probably by next spring, however, I should be able to get the money together for this.

Anybody planning on going to the Sno Drift rally at the end of January? The rally runs on the 29th and 30th up in Atlanta. I'm about 95% sure I'm going, so anybody else planning to make the trip?

I'm heading to the NAIAS, but I'll probably be there on press day since my buddy can get passes. I've been to Autorama once and hated it so I doubt I'll go back.

Yep, going to both. Not sure when Autorama is, but I think were going to the Auto Show the first Monday after it opens, early.

Warm weather is coming, we should work on a date. April would probably work and I'm good going anywhere in the state.

I'm good for April too, but I'm just not sure where to meet up at. I'd like to find somewhere (somewhat) close by; that way my parents will actually let me go to this. I was thinking Kalamazoo, if nobody has any objections.

Good for whenever so long as I can borrow something to get there or have something by then.

Edit: Actually I think sometime around the 20th I've got a visit to UNOH planned...

There is Fort Custer State Park near Kalamazoo/Battle Creek that might work. I'm not sure what you guys want to do.

If I remember correctly, the "public" visit is that weekend. I'm probably headed there myself.

I thought about that too, but I was slightly afraid that everyone would end up in a different part of the park and bad things would end up happening. As for what to do, just getting together and BS'ing about random stuff would be fine by me. Maybe do lunch, depending on the weather/everyone's ability to bring something.

Sunday, April 25, 2010, 12:00 P.M. to whenever. Fort Custer State Park. This okay for everybody?

I don't have any plans then, but then again my plans have a way of changing all the time. I'll consider it and decide closer to the date.

What are we planning on doing? I mean I'll bring my camera stuff and a semi-washed car so we can shoot some pictures and what not, but what else are we planning?

Gonna give a very solid - probably NOT. That's a long drive for me, and just really wouldn't work in any way, particularly on a Sunday. But don't change anything just for me, I probably wouldn't be able to make it up there anytime besides when school is out.

My life is pretty day-to-day at the moment, so while it is conceivably within range of visit, I cannot make any kind of guarantee. I'll definitely know for certain as things get closer to the date.

I just checked, Google says it 2 hours 38 minutes from my house to the park. I'm guessing I can do it in under 2 hours . For some reason I thought it was much further away. The left side of the state seems so distant.

After looking at how big this place is, I realized we needed a bit more exact location. This spot, near the southeast part of the park, is where we'll be.

And just so everyone is aware, it isn't free to get it.

Here are the rates:
  • Annual Resident: $24
  • Annual Non-Resident: $29
  • Daily Resident: $6
  • Daily Non-Resident: $8

I already have my annual pass as I use it all the time since I live next to a state park (I mean literally, like the houses behind me back up to it).

You can typically jump the gates at State parks since Michigan has virtually no park service employees, but if you do get caught you will be fined and that's a pain in the ass to pay.

And yes you have to show your driver's license when you buy the thing to prove you're a resident of the state. I always get a kick out of this for some reason, mainly because people from Ohio have to pay more than I do...take that you buckeyes!!!

Ya so the girlfriend just got tickets to the Red Wings game for that Sunday (barring they make it that far), so I might not be able to make it. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure all you guys are awesome but having a cute girl take me to a playoff hockey game sort of trumps hanging out with dudes I met on the internet . Hope you guys understand .
