I was getting to thinking lately about how microtransactions could benefit us in other means besides just paying for solely in game credits.

I'd personally like a one time transaction that would unlock all but the special GT/Matte/Color Shift/Chrome Paint Chips. Another is purchasing discounts for everything offered at the 'GT Auto' like pit services, paint, custom parts and tuning parts in increments of 10%, 25% and 50% off for various lengths of time (1 day, 1 week, 1 month).

What do you all think that players could benefit from for microtransaction?

Note:
This thread is not intended to bash microtransactions as a whole, so if you have nothing good to say about them, say nothing at all.

Players don't benefit from microtransactions. When they start getting implemented it's all downhill. The game becomes built upon enticing players to buy and shortcut the game, and franchises are ruined as they become cash grabs. Recent games like GTA Online and Forza 5 have suffered heavily from this, and while GT6 hasn't been too bad it may only get worse if people keep buying these BS items.

Yeah, maybe we can benefit in the sense the game becomes a bit easier or quicker, but as consumers we get screwed over, and it's not worth it.

It's true in the long run we don't benefit through them. Even paid dlc has gone down in quality from it's arrival. I remember the good old days of expansions. When they had to give us quality to justify the printing of a cd. Anyways more tracks cars and dare I say customization parts.

I just want the developers, PD, to receive all the earnings from microtransactions and not Sony, the latter of which merely published it. With more funding, we can possibly help PD to better fix issues in GT6 and develop GT7 to quality standards.

Otherwise I'm against them as SkierPS3 said.

Sexy anime racing queens pack.

can I have her race the car instead of my driver lol. Anyways my two cents Customation parts unique paints maybe more rims

I am for microtransactions that add content to the game like tracks and cars. It would be nice to have a few more tracks to race on. I also would like to see a way to keep test track data when you are testing car setups before going out to race.....

That's basically what it comes down to, unless the game is free and you only buy the parts you want.

I would definitely be down to pay a few bucks to get all the colors in game. ALL OF THEM.
This isn't much different than paying for credits. The paint colors are in the game and require zero effort on the part of PD for you to access. Why would you pay them?

I suggest PD give us a Nurburgring Nordshcleife located on the Moon, with a few more powerful PD made lunar rovers and Moon Tyres for normal cars. I would spend all of eternity Moon Ring Lapping.

In truth, there's really nothing that MT's could do to benefit the user as it's a way of milking the game for all its worth.
Yeah it's great we're getting additional content from the devs.
I mean, you're spending your hard earned to buy additional(some may even think unnecessary) items from a game you've already paid for.
The only thing I can think of is that if you had the option to pay a "one time fee"(like you mentioned) to unlock all current and upcoming DLC's.This method benefits the user, but not so much the devs.
But GT is awesome as we're getting in game content (BMW M4,Toyota FT1,MB VGT etc) that isn't that hard to acquire(bit of grinding) but at least they don't force you to actually pay real money to buy it.

Because paying a couple $$ for a few thousand paints is easier and cheaper than buying a few thousand cars.

I like the paint idea, but why not sell it in game instead? I applaud PD for improving the paint chip system by making chips infinite, but wouldn't be better having the entire chip list already? Even if you have to pay for the paint job. I don't mind that.

You just opened the floodgates. He will now go on to rant about why PD doesn't make all paints and cars available for free and whatever because 60$ and stuff.

Love how the first post goes off the topic I'm on, just to bash why it isn't a good thing, which I stated I didn't want this to become.

But hey, it's the internet, it doesn't matter.

If charging for cars (which it took more effort for PD to do than to have them unlocked from the beginning) was worth a ridiculous amount money, why would paint be any different?

PD already charged for one time use paints in GT5. They're charging you for nothing and slapping on arbitrary prices. To say it would be a lot cheaper is at best a wild guess with nothing to stand on.

Cars and tracks.

I also just realized that, for those who don't want a livery editor because there will be an explicit car, a marijuana car, and a [insert your own most loathed TV show here] car at large in the wild within an hour of it being added, having the livery editor (or the full version of it) be pay-DLC might be a good "troll blocker" that'll keep little kids and people who just want to mess around from getting it. Little kids won't be able to afford it (unless they can pester their parents into buying it for them), and trolls might not bother to spend the money.

How many hours would it take me to buy enough cars to get EVERY SINGLE chip? How many months and years would I have to wait to acquire every single special paint chip through seasonals?

They already spent $60, it probably won't change much.

What does that have to do with cheaper?

Also, how long did it take PD to hide the paint chips in the game instead of just letting us use them? Don't beg them to make things more convoluted. Ask them to use some sense instead.

woo! Anarchy! I'M DERAILING THIS THREAD FOR RODNEY KING!!

...

erm... anyhoo...

As a consumer, the idea of microtransactions never really appealed to me, either as a shortcut to unlocking something earlier than normal in the game, or otherwise unlocking / adding on to features you're normally barred from.

In the prior example, I'm not particularly fussed as to whether it's included or not. If people want to pay money to access goodies sooner, more power to 'em.

The latter example, however, makes me feel short-changed as a consumer. "Here, buy this game.

Oh, you wanted access to all the other stuff we released afterwards? That'll be extra."

You really think someone would pay 5 or 10 dollars just to put suggestive imagery or pot leaves on their car? Well, someone might do the latter if they're a legalization activitst, but then at least it'll probably be well done.

What does that have to do with cheaper?
That's my cue to exit.

@eSZee, so your idea is basically similar to this?:

Buy the timesavers DLC, unlock everything. All the cars, mods, etc.
I don't think it is.
I'm not asking to unlock something that can be acquired through NORMALLY playing the game.
Buying every car repeatedly just to acquire paints is not normal. That would also require huge amounts of grinding for credits to afford those cars, which I also don't consider normal.

If they were going to spend $60 to do the same with a free livery editor, they would probably spend that $5 easily.

I for one, would only pay for proper and meaty DLC.

I tend to consider that very different from a microtransaction. Charging for content makes perfect sense.

Though one good method for using microtransactions with DLC might be found in letting players buy less than the entire pack for a lower cost.

I think the OP has used improper terminology that dooms their thread from the start. MTs have nothing to do with new content. MTs are about getting in-game currency without having to earn it in-game (I use this expression in no pejorative sense). If in-game currency can unlock whatever it is you want, there should have been no mention of MTs: you are wanting new features added to the game. If in-game currency cannot unlock something because it must be paid for with real money, it is really paid-for DLC, not MTs: you are wanting new features that we can add to the game by paying for it. In either case the mention of MTs is irrelevant.

For the record: I might consider purchasing DLC for a small fee that would give me access to all the colors; but I would prefer DLC in the form of new tracks and cars (like a Jeep).
