Oh boy, been a long time since I played this...some basic tips please? :\
 
Try to win. ALl the time. Try to save up atleast 20,000$ in money before buying a car. That way you can get turbo and all that good stuff. Be sure to dyno your car after buying parts.

Um.. Try not to work more than once a minute. It doesnt always work, but alot of times you wont lose any models.

At the very start, cruise for 100 credits over and over until you get about 90 or so models. Buy 2000 calendars, and work the rest of your credits 100 at atime, 1 time a minute. Buy the amount of calendars you sold after you work, so you don't run out. Heck, buy more, even..

That's about it.
