S4A
First off, this is an informational thread, not a complaint. I know American cars very well, especially muscle cars, and this stuff jumped out at me.
The Japanese cars in the game are dead accurate, with almost zero errors. Not the case for the American cars, and it's been that way throughout the history of the GT series.
I hate to see misinformation spread around, especially by a video game that is renowned for its realism, so here's a partial overview of what PD missed:

You're forgetting one important thing......
No one really cares about the American cars.....that's the point! If PD had given a damn, they would have made them accurate. It doesn't matter anyway, they still don't go round corners without setting the airbags off!!! 👍

Not True, I care and Love American Muscle cars! Ever heard of NHRA??? or Drag Racing @ It's highest level? It's an american sport when it comes to Championship Drag Racing!!!

GT3's nismo r34 R tune bumper was modeled wrong. all they did was copied the normal one and added the ducts around the signal lights, the side vents and the nose that protrudes out. the form of the nose around the GTR badge is all wrong. yes i am knitpicking. plus the under cover is not right. any words of a Z tune in GT4?

eeeEEEEEEEEEEENough already, How about some info on a Game that can compare to the cars in GT4? :scared:

Exactly my point! :indiff: Cars built intentionally to go fast in a straight line. The physical realisation of the mission statement of U.S. car manufactuers!!!! :)

Hey thanks for stereotyping, that's really cool.

Do me a really big favor, and google "Pro Touring".
Next time, think before you make yourself look like an ass.

LOL, GT-40, Esperante, Corvette, Viper, Vector...........
I think he was moreso refering to the older American cars, unless he's more ignorant then I thought.

Okay guys...i gotta come clean.....I'm from Australia.....and WE don't exactly make the best in the world.......just trying to get a reaction!! If you're not too insulted by my remarks....check out the Ford F6 Typhoon when you get your hands on the US GT4.....tell me what you think!

stop trolling. It upsets people that have meaningful things to say.

I like it, I think it's a step forward from some of the previous crap they made!

HYBRIDLVR.......ahh....yes......they did make some absolute trash in the late 90's....things are pickin up though.....where you from in the states?

Well done S4A 👍

There are only few muscle cars in the game, and then so many mistakes.

If Polyphony reads this forum, they would have interest in sending you a PM to thank you and take your advise before finishing the next GT version.

FR on the SVT Lightning, that can still be solved by hybriding.

S4A you could try contacting PD to tell them about the mistakes. I know nothing will happen but still you should tell them eh!

I thought about contacting PD after GT2. Many muscle cars in that one were based on owner-modified cars and weren't even close to stock (Charger SE and Cougar come to mind).
The GT4 versions are vastly improved compared to those, so we should be thankful PD is improving, even if they're not quite there yet.

EDIT: Wow, I almost forgot about the mutant Challenger and Barracuda in GT2. Remember them? They were a weird mix of 1970 styling (legendary) and 1972 engines (lame).

I thought the 'Cuda in GT2 was just a '72 claiming to be a '70.

It had the '72 tail-lights (four circles), and '72 front grill (like the '70, but squarer...)

F\or the mistakes, it was one of my fave cars in GT2- got along way through the game with a heavily-modified version...

The stance on that 'Cuda was horrible too.:( I do remember the engine on the Cougar being awesome though..:D

If they spent such a long time measuring and testing cars on dynos then how is that most EVOs and WRXs in GT3 and GT4 manage to have precisely 280PS?

I don't think they dyno the cars. I think most of the information comes directly from the manufacturers and then they factor it into the game as one of the many parameters.

I think many here have the wrong end of the stick - I would say most of these mistakes are quite trivial (badging and paint) - and demonstrate that PD really does care and has gone to a lot of trouble to create largely accurate representations of the cars. The real issue is how well they have recreated the handling and drivability of these cars.

I reckon S4A has done a top job - pity more posts aren't this informative.

The main one I care about is the Z/28 and SS Camaro.

They look exactly the same. Sure they handle and drive differently, but that's just the same as two different Skylines that look the same.

They should of made the SS look right, or even better made one of them an RS also. Like they had in GT2.

You mean like they had erroneously in GT2?

The Mercedes-Benz SL500 is also wrong year wise. In 2003, The SL series roadsters had a major overhaul / completely new redesign of the body. They were a concept in early 2001, and went into production in late 2002 to be the last car in the Mercedes line up to complete the new transformation to the sleeker body styles, these new body styles on the SL are called the R230. There were no 2002 R230 SL Roadsters for sale. There was only R129's (previous generation SL's). GT4 Lists the R230 as a 2002 model. Minor complaint, but no problem, as the car is the same in all other aspects. Just technically, it should be a 2003.

Not true. While here in the US, the R230 did not come out until 2003, most Mercedes are out at least a year or so before they hit the states. It is true for the W220 (S-Class), W215 (CL), R170 (SLK), W203 (C), R199 (McLaren SLR), and the W211(E).

As for other cars, the specs they (PD) probably used were from what they know in Japan. Cars here in America have different standards (Government Regulations). Take Mercedes for example, all cars here in the states are limited to 160mph no matter the model. Elsewhere in the world, this is not so. Another example (a little off-topic), the Mercedes diesels are available all over Europe, but we can only have the E320 CDI, and only in 45 states at that!

Let's just hope that are waiting won't be in vain!

S4A said this: "--The '70 Superbird was restricted to just 7 colors in real life. One of those 7 colors was special-order (Petty Blue) and it's missing from the game. PD just gives us all 28 standard 1970 Plymouth colors."

Bummer, no Petty Blue on the Super Bird! :grumpy: Why do they have to leave out the best color? My dad, brother and I just restored a 73' Dodge Charger SE and repainted it Petty Blue, and I would have gotten as many Mopars in GT4 in Petty Blue as possible.

And on the 71' Charger Super Bee, it looks like they forgot the kicker panel, trim peice, (whatever it's called) that fits on the rockers. And I think they should have put the Vinyl Top on it, even though it was an option, I think it looks better. And does it have an Air Grabber hood in the game??? Not sure if they were an option or not, but I think most of them had them. And I cant tell in the picture, but it looks like it's missing the rear spoiler. But maybe it's just cause the picture is poor quality. (Maybe somone would be so kind as to get us a few more, better screenshots in here, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!)
