This mission is easy. :) I passed it on my first try. The key of this mission is not to use the brake (except in some tight corners). Don´t be afraid, this course is very wide and enables you to accelerate and increase your speed while driving on some corners.

The car may be tricky to drive, but the five leading cars are bad and you only are 12 secs. behind the first place.

I wish missions 11-14 where as easy as this one! :dopey:

Can you guys give a breakdown of when you passed each car? I have no idea where I'm losing time, but I'm a half-second back at the finish.

I'll have a video for ya in a couple of hours... In the mean time here's the video page of my site http://md-dms.twbc.net/videos.php
There's a heap of GT4 videos there and like i said i'll get mission 31 up there soon.

Breakdown.

Red Lotus Elise - In / just after the tunnel.
Lotus Carlton - straight before long turn.
Blue Lotus Elise - Middle of last turn*
Lotus Europa - Beggining of straight
Lotus Elan - Before Finish

* Go around the outside of the blue Elise, its hard to get past

just won this one, cant seem to go faster around the corners its more when i get back on the gas to how fasat i leave was around .200's every time, only won by .111

MISSION 31

Here's a map of the circuit for this mission, with the gears listed for each corner, and brake zones in yellow.

Keys:
-The only tricky part is the turn after the tunnel. It is deceptively slow.

Disclaimer: This is how I drive the mission. I have a conservative, smooth driving style, so your braking tendencies may not match, but it should give you some idea of where to brake, and how much. Throttle-lifts are NOT shown, but it's not hard to figure out when you should lift. The time reference is for the NTSC version only.

I'm not exactly sure what this Mission accomplishes. It doesn't seem to require much from the driver. A draft here, a gear change there. I'd say the first right-hand sweeper is the key to winning by getting past the fifth place Elise before the right-hand turn after the bridge. Maybe picking the proper line is the object of this Mission. In a breakdown of the run, someone said go outside of the blue Elise yet it's easy to get by on the inside using the same breakdown. Not sure of the discrepancy.

Sorry to say, but it's obviously easy to cheat on this Mission, so it's fairly easy to win by a good margin using little effort. I was asked where, but the cheat is staring right in front of you at the start . People like myself always need all the leverage we can get just to win. It will decrease your lap time by almost a second or so. I used to use it all the time just for fun. My sample run video doesn't use the cheat (NTSC, DS2, MT):

i had a problem with the 2nd tight corner and going too wide. did this twice and lost by .023 once and .061 the next time. 3rd go round i fixed my problem and won.

i was too used to the race cars in the previous tests so this car caught me off guard

I have trouble with sports tires, so am not finding this mission as easy as some other people do. But I've got reasonably close without applying a lot of analysis, and expect to apply that analysis to pass soon, so I'm not surprised to see everyone saying how easy it is.

Edit: Mission accomplished in relatively short order when I gave it a serious try.

It really does seem easy. But if you hit the Elan at the end...

The Carlton for some reason is difficult to overtake. I had completed this mission a while back, so I'll try it again.

Nailed it by 0.055. God it was horrible, and to think when I was younger I wanted an Esprit, oh the wisdom of age.

I'm sure the Esprit of your dreams wasn't shod with bargain-basement tires and didn't have gobs of tCS turning it into a hog.

No, the Esprit is on SM tires, same as the SLR in M34. Now that's not a glowing comparison, but SM's are hardly bargain-basement when real-life performance street tires apparently are equivalent to something between N2s and N3s. SMs are pretty good, but I agree, the car doesn't handle well.

I thought this car was ok. As long as you try NOT to overdrive the corners this mission was one of the easier ones.

Forgot this one a couple of weeks ago. Pretty easy once you learn the feel of the lotus.

Exit speed matters at a fast track like HSR. Brake early and watch out for the ***** tires and you'll be fine. It is relatively easy. There are easier ones like the Z at Fuji, but this one isn't too bad. :)
