That's a shame. If we had a good recomp, it would probably be much easier to create mods.

A recompilation project will never provide that. A decompilation (actually recreating matching source code) would allow anything to be possible, but would take a dedicated team of expert developers a very long period of time. It's already been tried and didn't manage to pick up steam as it's so difficult to do.

Regardless, both are unrelated to this mod.

Aha, I'm getting recomp and decomp confused 👍.

It'd probably be easier to create a new game that looks and plays like GT2 than decompile GT2.

Hello. While preparing for the upcoming competition, the organizer discovered a visual bug on the Nissan Skyline GT-R 4-door tuned by Nismo - at Turbo Stage 4, the pressure is 1 bar, whereas at Turbo Stage 3, it is 1.2+ (there aren't even enough markings on the gauge for that). I have attached screenshots.

P.S. I’ve been asked to pass along one more question: why does the '96 Galant VR-4 have a continuation of the graph past 6,000 rpm, whereas the '99 VR-4 and all Legnum models do not?

The stage 4 turbo has a higher boost setting and a higher maximum limit on the gauge. There are no markings on the gauge because its values aren't always the same, as far as I'm aware.

The '96 Galant VR-4 is the only manual VR-4 in the game and so has a different engine spec to the others. The pre-facelift manual made 280ps while the auto only made 260ps ('96 Legnum, both Super VR-4s), then the post-facelift auto was bumped up to 280ps too (both '99 VR-4s).

Thanks for the reply. I was also asked to pass this along: the Evo VI GSR doesn't have rear fog lights. I was told that this is standard for the GSR.

I'm not sure what you mean, the Evo VI didn't have a factory rear fog light (UK imports had them added upon landing by Ralliart UK). If you mean the garnish lights on the boot lid like the Evo V had, they were only an option on the later (2000 model) Tommi Makinen Edition GSR, and only standard on the TME GSR as part of the Passion Red paint and decal package.

If you mean something else, a picture will help.

I think we misunderstood each other. Here are screenshots from the movie “Taxi 2” — Evo 6 GSR, not TME. In the last frame, you can see that it’s left‑hand drive. So it’s not the British version. You can tell from the bumpers that it’s not TME. And, accordingly, these lights are present.

P.S. This issue is no longer relevant; the matter has been resolved.

That's a Carisma GT Evolution VI, the very rare mainland European equivalent of the Lancer. The taillight garnishes were taken from the Evo IV specifically for that market.

Thank you for the response. We in the group also came to this conclusion. We also found an old video from “Best Motoring” comparing the Evo V and Evo VI and their GSR and RS modifications.

As I wrote, I’m acting on behalf of the GT2 community in the CIS. Others in the community can’t join here without bypassing blocks and using VPNs (this leads to a political issue, but I won’t get into that). Almost no one wants to deal with this, and besides, unlike the others, I have a bit more free time, so they chose me to represent them, so to speak, on the “international stage.”

Who is asking you pass things along? They're welcome to join and just ask what they want to ask themselves.

I have no issue myself with whether someone is posting their own suggestions or helping others to do so.

I have no issue with it, I was just confused by the situation. The other people who appear to be fans of the series would be welcome to join, but if it's complicated for them due to where they are that makes sense.

Theoretically, with a good one we could remove all of the limitations on events, car bodies, tune shops etc. and new tracks could be added too. It'd be up to modders to decide if they want to go that route or stick to mods that will work on original hardware though.
Sorry for continuing this irrelevant topic in this thread, but not only will a decompiled GT2 feature a lot of these things you mentioned, plus more than 6 cars racing, higher quality sounds, pit stop animations, added custom cars, added custom tracks, and so on, but it will also look more like how it appeared in the opening movie.

Imagine if somebody makes what would essentially be the "Sonic Mania" of Gran Turismo, featuring the best of GT1, GT2, GT2000, GT3, GT Concept, GT4 Prologue, GT4, TT, GTHD, GT5 Prologue, and even GT PSP, GT5, and GT6, with some enhancements of GT Sport and GT7. That would be a dream come true.

Question about the Skyline GT-R (KPGC10) ‘71. In the NTSC-U and PAL versions, they are available in silver and white, while in NTSC-J they are exclusively red.

Comment from a community member:
“It would be nice to collect its colors in Mod Plus. I’ve been playing Mod Plus for a long time, and so far I’ve only come across white and silver GT-Rs; I’ve only seen red ones in rivals. I can’t get one for my garage — or is it impossible?”

I don't even think this is true, there's no mention of any of the 3 colours being exclusive to any one region. The used car listings are set including colours so I'd suggest looking at those to find out what days they appear on

All three colours are in the used car list for all three regions, and have not been changed from the original game. Check existing used car guides for whichever region you're playing.

I may end up replacing the white colour with gold in a future version though, as white / silver / red is actually the 4-door GT-R colour lineup whereas the coupe was only in gold / silver / red for the early version and white / silver for the later version.

Hello. Someone from the community asked me to inquire: is it possible to add the "B-ing" livery as an alternative option for the 1992 pre-facelift Mitsubishi GTO?

Reasoning:
The green Puma livery on the Mitsubishi GTO debuted in 1994, when the team first fielded the car in the Japanese Super Taikyu series (then known as the N1 Taikyu Series). Consequently, the Puma livery cannot be applied to the 1992 pre-facelift model.

P.S. They just sent me an additional brochure for it.

A cool car mod to make, but GT2+ doesn't aim to change existing content unless its wrong/bad. The RMs, although copy pasted between similar models like the GTO, NSX and Supra cars, aren't fundamentally wrong, so (pez will correct me if i'm wrong) they're not going to be changed for GT2+.
The closest thing to an alteration to the racing mods that could happen to the GTO models, would be fixing and porting over demo puma colors that were cut in the final cut i think.

I'm not an artist and will not be creating entirely new car bodies. The racing modifications are fictional designs often heavily inspired by real liveries and are sometimes based on liveries from different cars, for example the 787B-inspired livery on the RX-7 or the A4 BTCC-inspired livery on the S4.

Hi @pez2k , in the downloads section there's a xdelta patch to convert speed, weight and toque to metric units for USA GT2 Vanilla and A-Spec. I asked the author about a version compatible with your mod but he said he needs some files to do it, just in case you want to contact him.

Cheers!

I'm not planning on including any other unit conversion changes in the mod - there are already cheat codes to do it if players want something other than the default.

As far as I recall, GT1 features one race-modified version that differs from the Puma variant. Is it possible to add it as an alternative option?

Question 2: Is it possible to spin off the Nismo GT-R LM—currently a race-modified version of the base model—into a standalone model? This would be similar to the Honda NSX-R GT2 LM, which started out as a race-modified version of the Acura.

I agree regarding the NISMO GT-R LM Race Car. It should be its own race car rather than just a Racing Modification of the NISMO GT-R LM Road Car. As one of the star race cars of GT1, it just feels wrong for it to be nothing but an RM here in vanilla GT2 let alone GT2 Plus. It just doesn't do it justice.

So I would love for a separate NISMO GT-R LM Race Car (in its GT1 spec possibly) in the next update of GT2 Plus.

It's possible as another mod but I have no plans to do so. The body is intentionally used as the racing modification of the road car and so is normally available to the player and not cut content.

The Acura NSX-R GT2 body you mention was not available to the player by any normal means, and since the Complete version removes the fictional Acura NSX-R entirely it seemed like a better approach to instead recreate the Honda race car that didn't make it out of the previous game, along with the NSX GT1 Turbo. The Light version on the other hand just fixes the issue that was preventing the Acura body from being used as a racing modification.

I understand that you are trying to keep things exactly as how Polyphony intended them to be, especially when they were never cut to begin with. However, sorry but I have to object.

I don't think it makes sense to reduce what was essentially one of the star race cars of GT1 into just a mere RM in GT2. The NISMO GT-R LM Race Car is a real life race car. It has a lot of potential in GT2 as a separate race car. So keeping it as an RM would just be bottlenecking it especially when it comes to using it in Gran Turismo All Stars let alone the Gran Turismo World League (where actual race cars are more effective than RMs generally speaking, unless you try hard to beat the actual race cars using RMs in those events).

Think you'll have to take that one up with Polyphony then, they made the decision back in 1999. Or make your own mod which can do whatever you want it to.

Well it's not to include it in your mod, it's for developing an xdelta patch for people who is not familiar with adding cheat codes to get metric units (I'm one of those).

Why would he do that when the cheat codes are so easy to use?

Far easier just letting people who want that to use the existing cheat codes than creating duplicate versions of the mod than include/exclude it.
