BMW Sauber reveals Monaco package

Preparations at Monaco

1st Free Practice

I expect a strong showing from Bruno Senna in the GP2 race, hopefully Hamilton in the F1 event as well :)

I have a feeling despite his inexperience of such a difficult track that Hamilton will win this..... This win keeps on looming and I think it will be the one they all want to win where it will happen.....

Reason why I think this... Because Hamilton was particularly good at karting (more so than most)... And because Monaco is so windy and tight it is more like a Karting circuit than any other so he will probably feel quite confident!

Well heres me hoping, Mclaren all the way!

Robin

Too bad their F1 team isnt doing very well

That's just because Albers drives with his feet taped together.

I think Hamilton will win if he can continue his pattern of amazing starts.

Dude, seriously. What do you have against Albers. Just because he made one error and your flaming him all the time. Not cool man:tdown:

I think it could be that he's finished last of the runners or DNF'ed every race so far..

I think..

He can't even beat the Hondas.

And I'm syaing that as a Honda fan ...

As we are onto Honda, I think they might do fairly well here, they don't have to go too fast round here at all!

Ok, seriously? I think it's a straight fight between Hamilton and Raikkonen. Lewis has an unbeaten streak here, yes Appie it may only be something like two races, but not many people can say they have won two races at Monaco and Lewis is on a wave of confidence following his 3 second places. I've also put Kimi up for the win as last year he was leading I believe before his car going ka-put.

Massa and Alonso should fight over the final step with Alonso coming out on top, Massa has never done well at Monaco. Behind them could very well be a Red Bull vs BMW ding dong although BMW's new power steering system could edge it their way, however saying that, DC is probably the best driver in the current field at Monaco. Then expect the Williams vs Renault vs Super Aguri vs Honda vs Toyota for the remaining point or two.

Prediction:

1st: Hamilton
2nd: Raikkonen
3rd: Alonso
4th: Massa
5th: Coulthard
6th: Heidfeld
7th: Kubica
8th: Davidson (:D)

Oh and ten quid says Sutil will go up the backside of someone in Turn 1 on the first lap..

I just have to hold out until Canada and hope someone else forgets to develop a car next year ...

And Bee, I'd say it's more likely Albers will be the dangerous one in the race; there's talk he'll be replaced with test driver van der Garde if he can't match Sutil in terms of pace. Hence, he's going to be holding on for all he's worth to keep his seat, and drivers in the past have proven common sense usually takes a back seat to everything else when they want to keep their drive.

I'm not flaming him. I'm just recounting his misfortune. I don't have anything against Albers, but I really think Sutil is a better driver, and I think Albers needs to get his act together even more.

I'm Dutch also, so I can understand your devotion for the guy; but let's face it. It ain't doing too well.

He is getting comprehensively smashed by Sutil and he is not driving well at all. This is his 3rd year in F1 and probably his last. He has not gone forward since coming into F1, and despite beating his previous team mates he hasn’t show well against Sutil (who is quite impressive). If you can’t beat your team mate, you can’t be champion. If you can’t win you won’t take up a seat for too many years in F1.

Their car doesn’t have any braking stability. They will get smashed. ;) If a driver doesn’t have confidence there is no way they can push at Monaco.

Agreed. Kimi usually pulls out something pretty special at Monaco, and the Ferrari is supremely stable. He should be able to push quite comfortably. I suspect Kimi and Alonso may also perform a bit better than they have recently because of the super soft and soft compound tyres. However I still think Hamilton will beat Alonso.

In 2005 Nick and Mark both got on the podium, but I think Nick did not deserve 2nd place then. But still, with the great car I’m pretty sure Nick will be best of the rest. IIRC Kubica only got a few laps in practice last year…

Webber is also extremely strong at Monaco. He got 3rd in 2005 (deserved 2nd) and was running in 3rd for most of the race last year before he retired. I think he will probably beat DC, especially considering Mark has been on form in qualifying this year. DC always has good race form, though, so it’ll be a close fight.

Spyker have said that neither driver will lose their seats this year. They will give both drivers an entire season to prove themselves.

I read somewhere the McLaren's shorter wheelbase, compared to the longer Ferrari, could push the ball into Hamilton's court?

And that Honda developed a new package with improved braking-stability...

Yep, that’s true. McLaren are usually strong at Monaco, too. But the longer wheelbase isn’t really a big problem, so I expect it to come down more to drivers than cars at this race.

They gained half a second. Only two more to go. :dopey:

Sure, but every bit counts...

Damn, I wish they'd improve. I kinda prefer the midfield battles...

I don't know if Hamilton will be able to win this one. He'll have a good chance though if he gets the pole.

Alonso setting the early pace, Ferrari's well down but...let's face it, they're probably sandbagging again, but I think McLaren will have the best chance in this one

Lol, Good one Metar. But im wondering how Ferrari will react to it. Maybe there working on the race setup?

Or Spike got it right and they're sandbagging again. Again, I say, because I saw at Melbourne too, where they consistently drove T3 0.5 behind Alonso's pace, while in-race, they were far quicker than both Macs in that sector.

I think they were working on the race setup indeed. I followed the practice sessions a bit via live timing and the McLaren was fast right away. Ferrari closed the gap slowly during the session.

The gaps are small atm, will probably be an entertaining qualification on Saturday
