HI ALL

did a search for this , but nothing came up so heres a new thread !!!!

How many of you agree that the gran turismo series , money making scheme is far to lucrative ,
Meaning , its far too easy too make quick money on the game , and all too easy to end up with 800 bhp skyline after a few hours of play .after all nobody in real life moves from a crappy old escort , to a flame spitting skyline in a few days ( unless of course you win the lottery , or have money to begin with --- in which case what the hell would you be doing driving an escort anyway :dopey: )

I for one am very happy to see the return of the second hand car market in GT4 .
i feel this was a big part mising from gt3 , however , i didnt like the fact at the begining of the game i found myself repeating races over & over , just to win cars i could sell to make money . i appreciate that this is a very good part of GT , but cant help wonderning if there was a way to slow this process down somewhat ,so that the curve from being poor to rich was harder to achieve .

One way i have thought of is to see PD implement mechanical damage , and repair costs . I.E
After you have bought your car and raced it for so many miles , you would have to spend some of your hard earned winnings , bying new parts or repairing worn ones .
Further to this , as with the oil in gt3 , where you had to pay to do an oil change , wouldnt it be nice if there were other things that gradually wear and need to be replaced , such as brake pads and discs , clutches , etc..etc...
not only would this slow down the " BECOMING RICH IN TWO DAYS " process , but would also add a greater sense of realism .............

What do you think ................

Perhaps you could have it so that you can only race a tournament once a day or something with a higher entrance fee to make you weary of entering in the first place.

When I first started playing GT it wasn't easy or hard; just right, but now it's pretty easy. I think that GT4 will be even more difficult to get rich.

I think GT2 was the that was easiest to get rich. GT3 changed a lot compared to that game, but still was a little too easy to get rich. I like the "win a car only once" in the beginning of the game, but not when I first started to play GT3. I felt I was being jipped the first time through, but later on, I realized how much more fun it was to do it that way.

Again, earning credits in GT4 should be more difficult than GT3, inorder to increase the fun/challenge factor.

I'm sure all of us hardcore GT fans would like GT4 to be really hard but I guess game developers have to have in mind those people who are complete newbies or simply don't have the skill/time to play the game properly.
And still, there will always be lots of people asking for tips or cheats to get easy money.

i ike that idea of the engine wearing, say, you loose hp or sumthing when ya havent changed the oil, i dunno, something that can wreck your engine and ya need to repair it, i like that idea, i mean its to easy driving around tracks without a worrie in the world

yes, i agree, can't satisfy all the people at once
but i would like GT4 to have to replace worn out part or damaged part, that's a good idea
especially tires, brakes and engine oil or may be transmission oil as well
or repair your engine/turbo if you over rev

I think GT4 should be as hard as PD can make it. It will keep the drift noobs away from GT.

Before I begin this reply, I want to give a shoutout to Marcus Gronholm at the Rally Deustuchland (I apologize for spelling error). Why? He deserved better after having won the Finland Rally with the lovely 307 WRC. I hope you do well at the next rally, Gronholm. Stay in there, buddy!

Money-making, eh? You want your own Ford GT, like Kazunori Yamauchi has his? Want one in Gulf colors, ERB? Or you even like Ford? I'm kidding around with you, ERB. Welcome to GTPlanet! My name is John, from Houston, TX, USA. Nice to meet you. As far as making money goes, you'll have to do anything it takes to make money. Later in this reply, I'll "teach" you a technique I try to use to get access to bigger and better cars, especially when starting out. But when it comes to making money, you don't have a lot of options. You'll need enough money to take a new car, modify it as much as possible, give it an oil change, and then hit the track and win. Sounds simple, right? Well, it gets much harder as you try to make as much money as possible. Now sure, you'll lose a race every now and then (take it from me. My R34 Skyline wasn't up to the task in the European Championship race at Rome Circuit Reverse. So I had to accept that loss), but that's all the more reason to keep fighting hard, right? And I'll assume that you've done just enough to reach at least rach 25 to 50 percent completion of all three GT games out now, if not more. But my primary concern of money comes in starting out. You'll have to win races and make money to buy that Dodge Viper GTS in blue/white stripes.

Okay, that technique. I start with a technique after winning races and championships called "Gambling." So what I do is, I first save my game, sell my first car, then try to find out what cars I can get a hand on in order to take command of better cars. And for me in Gran Turismo, it's the 3000GT from Mitsubishi. So basically it's about selling your old muscle for something better. Call it "trading up," if you like. Well, that is all. I'm done.

👍

The 3000GT is the only Japanese car for me.

Yeah I like the idea of wear and tear. Say, if you don't change your oil in time, the engine will grenade in a race, forcing you to pay a large repair bill or something.

I reckon that you should be able to gain sponsorship for your cars... Have stickers and stuff and it be based on how you do in the races and what races you're in etc... And if you do badly then they revoke their sponsorship... and if yu do even better then someone else offers you a new contract...

C.

That would be really sweet.....because, afterall you are doing a carrer mode so it should have more features like car sponsorship.....maybe more of a story line like toca race driver.....

It would look really cool to have a private car with various sponsors on it and the more you progress the more your car livery looks more professional...

Eh, it's the hardcore GT fans that would prefer more of a challenge. I for one definitely want that, as for winning the money, I think it should start off slow and hard, but it needs to be balanced all through the game, also specail super value cars shouldn't be there, like the shigeno trueno which you could sell for 125k, thats what really got my GT3 career moving ahead and straight after I won the Camaro race car. As soon as I hit the amature league I became unstopable as far as affordiong new cars for different cus was concerned.

It would be alot cooler to have parts sponsored for rather than having to buy them......as you moved up the carrer ladder more and more of your car would become "free"......with top tuning companies offering the latest parts and components to prove there best performance in a race with you at the wheel! But ofcource......there is only so much the PS2 can handle! :guilty:

It could handle that, it's the time and effort it would take to create such a system, besides I think it's better having to buy the parts, you'd get to a point where you only ever spend money on new cars.

Yeah I'm up for having a rough start, you know, little money, barely competitive car. It should test the patience and skill of a true driver. Give them little money at the start....so when they finally gather the greens to purchase that Lancer Evolution MR that makes up their dreams, it'll feel Good. No, GREAT. It was rewarding buying my Evo VII RS in GT3, I did it only in a Trueno. But imagine getting to buy your second car, after you've worked so hard using that one wheel wonder of an Accord.

Naw....I think GT4 can do without sponserships. I know it'd be something new but Gran Turismo has always been cars and races....not some tacky story about a racer makin his way up the ranks. Just my opinion there.....

Not too sure about having all those sponsor stickers on my car either.
**Get that PENZOIL STICKER SHYT OFF MY LEVIN!!!**

I don't find the money as much of a problem as the bonus cars. I seem to get more cars than I could possibly ever drive, each worth thousands and thousands of dollars. It gets to the point where it's unrealistic beyond comprehension. "Here, you achieved next to nothing, have a free car!"

I think this thread is talking about things we could never possibly see in a GT game. Buit, it would great to see if PD could do something similar, but less impracticable.

Sponsorship would be great, but you have the option wether to use the sponsors or fight your way by yourself. Also, the amount you sell you're cars for depends on age and milage, or It just depeciates. Not you buy it and it instantly loses a huge chunk of its value,

I like it the way it is. GT4 should stay the same. Money isn't as easy to get as you may think. I love earning money for winning races and I love racing the same races over again to get more money.

If you make it to hard to upgrade or buy new cars, people aren't going to play to much of GT4.

Maybe implement other ways to spend your money. Or a way to give your money to a less fortunate player.

Personally I am still playing GT3. I have been for over 3 years now, and I still haven't finished once. 69%.

More ways to make money? A nice way is to perhaps compete in one-off races. This, however, would bring up my "Race Invitations" thread. So GTPlanet, when it comes to making money for not just racing, I figured "Pro Race Driver" kind of had a good method. You could compete in one-off races for money (even though you cannot purchase things). If I could add a new item to the "Gran Turismo Resorts," let it be "Open Challenge" (sorry, can't give you a creative title just yet). This mode will allow you to take part in racing challenges. You don't have to buy the car. All you have to do is send a mock E-mail to the person offering a race deal. And to make things interesting, let's say that the ones who apply for the racing deal will only be able to take in only a certain number of slots. Then judging on skill and talent, the person with the race offer can select only one. If you're selected, you get to race the one-off deal. If not, you can always look elsewhere. Or let's say that the harder races will yield more money and perhaps a chance to take the car home and tune it to your delight.

Or let's say that you can make money by (and this will not happen, but if it did) competing in charity kart races. If you win, you'll win a huge sum of money, and half of it goes to charity. And even if you don't win, you'll perhaps get something out of it granted you don't quit. A reason why I like "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" is because there are several ways to make money and lots to do in the seedy city of Vice City (not as bad as GTA3's Liberty City, though). So I'm sure if such a violent video game as Gran Turismo 4... I mean, Vice City... can come up with many ideas to keep the game entertaining, so can GT4. You dig me? Other than that, I'd rather make money the traditional ways in the Gran Turismo series.

another way to make money:
have a 3D model of your driver, with helmet on, hold a car wash 👍
and if you want to make more money, invite the pit crew over

no but seriously, it's good how it is. The first series of races are always my fav cuz it's challenging starting with cr@p. I find the later championships/series more relaxed so if anything, they should tax you on how many cars you have to drain some of your cash. Let's just say you have to pay "insurance".

I guess makeing money in the next gt4 could use to be a bit slower, esspecially when theres online play, so a person could say - omg u have that car!

Also, what i fear most is that you may not be able to hold one of every car in the game in your save (even tho the chances of someone gettin 500+ cars is low)

also, i would hate it if your car would ware out over time and eventually just slow down, ick! :yuck:

the parts wear idea would be really cool if implemented properly. If they wore down in a linear way it would suck big time cuz how the heck do you determine clutch wear when you can't even modulate it yourself? I dunno but if I had to change a clutch exactly every some-odd-number of races it would get pretty annoying.
