Does 2ms response time and 120hz both equate to about the same thing. Just two different ways of saying the same thing.

Trying to find a 120hz for under $200 23.6"-24"... I dont want it to be 3D or anything.

No, the refresh rate and response time are different. 120Hz = approximately 8ms, 2ms = 500Hz. Well obviously they're not the same thing, but yeah. The refresh rate is how often an image is drawn, not sure about the response time. My monitors are 60Hz with a 2ms response, and many large monitors have slower response times.

I'm no expert though, obviously.

Yea, its just kinda hard to find a normal 120hz monitor that isnt "3D" capable. If it wasnt for the 3D gimmick, the monitors im seeing wouldnt be near as much.

For now it doesnt seem like its something i need, if im going to have to shell out 400+ more dollars. My TV just has some slight overscanning issues which is why im looking for a monitor, might as well look for something good first then make my way down as i think it over haha

Response time measures how fast a pixel fills with color.

Refresh rate is how many images are displayed per second.

Anything below 5 ms response time is acceptable for gaming.

I see, thank you for the info :)

Response time is how quickly the monitor is drawing every new frame. If you need a cheap monitor for the money then I recommend the ASUS VE208T. It normally goes for $114-$125 USD and it displays 1600x900 on a 20" LED display. It's 5ms which is acceptable for gaming and the stereo speakers that come in it are actually decent(It does not have much bass but they are great for the price). I'm pretty sure the reason why we now got monitors that display 120hz or more is for 3D as the figure is chopped in half when you use 3D glasses. But don't take my word for it. I've not used such a monitor myself and I have only a small idea on how it works.

You realise that's not 120hz right?

He doesn't need 120 Hz.

Ive taken whats been said in this thread and i just now ordered this monitor. Looks nice and has the right specs, i should be happy with it.

Good choice. Enjoy it. NewEgg is great with shipping as well; so you shouldn't worry about it being damaged in transit... unless you have a really, really angry driver lol.

Yea i know, im not going to worry about it. Especially since all 120Hz monitors nowadays for PC seem to all be "3D Ready" which makes them $300 more dollars.

@zoOlogy
Plus its Asus so good customer service. I bought my whole PC from Newegg recently, free 2 day shipping ftw XD
