I was looking through the seasonal events and realized that i hadn't completed the world circuit tours one. I checked into it and saw that i never did the Monza event. I saw that i was missing out on a level 18 ticket and needed it bad.

I got in the the old Peugeot 908 and started it up, got half a lap in a realized...

I HATE THIS TRACK!

I do understand the historical significance of this track, and i know A LOT of people like it but i don't get it. Its basically a bunch of looong straights with some crappy chicanes thrown in, no flowing section of corners, no on or off camber stuff, nothing. Totally boring in my opinion.

I finished the race and got my level 18 ticket and will not do this track again for another 3 or 4 months. maybe it will be different next time.

Anyway, to the question: What is your current least favorite track and why?

edit: sorry for spelling infinite wrong in the title :dunce:

And no, I don't have a least favorite track.

Well, you see, Monza didn't used to be like that. There was an oval, along with a more complicated piece. But I don't why they decided to ditch these parts and adopt the current form.

Anyway, least favourite track? London.

That's one way of looking at things, I guess. I just tend to take people less seriously when they have an outspoken opinion of something and yet don't take the time to check their spelling. Leads to doubt about the time and effort they put in the actual topic.

The fun on Monza comes from being able to go flatout max speed so many times (like a mini La Sarthe of sorts) and with the technicality of how well you can take a long corner, as well as account for how much the side g-forces will push your car (like on Daytona).

If you still don't like it. Turn the key on a Ferrari (430 Scuderia is my favourite) and give it a run for its money. It should be exhilarating.

My least favourite tracks are all the created tracks in the editor. The unrealism of the elevation changes as well as the bland backgrounds annoy me.

Tokyo R246, Laguna Seca, Indy RC, London, Madrid Mini, Monaco - possibly my most dreaded tracks in GT5.
I'm awful on them, I hate them and I do my best to avoid them.

I'm not much of a fan of Monza either..

Fair enough, sorry. People do make mistakes, regardless of strong options or not

I hate Daytona Speedway. I don't typically race Monza because few know how to take the turns without cutting.

To me personally, anything oval except for the ones with a road track in it (Indy and Daytona). The oval's are alright sometimes, but gets a little to boring as you only go left lol. I'm more of a technical course kinda guy, I like more variety in corners. For the record, I don't hate oval tracks, but they're my least favorite.

I haven't raced it online, because of my dislike, I didn't know you could cut. The AI doesn't cut, they just drive poorly.

yep 👍

Monza has some good bits, but it has had to adapt to the years,

I quite enjoyed it when they had a few trees on and before the second (Righthaded)apex of the Ascari chicane (Now it is a featureless desert of kitty litter)

It was good with zero chicanes for slip stream battles -
Bit like American Oval racing, but with a few choice corners (Curva Grande/ Lesmos Vialone and Parabolica to make sure driving talent could show something to what is otherwise a power circuit.

this is a 9 meg comicbook of the 1967 F1 race.
Track may be dull but the races used to be pretty ...eventful.

but to me these new chicanes seem to create more dangerous accidents.

Least favourite - Has to be an Oval... Not Pocano or Trenton

Even with penalties on. It's atrocious.

It is interesting to see the changes monza has gone through since 1922 its a shame gt5 doesnt have the other configurations it would change things up a bit.

Try going round it on a super bike then you might like it a bit more it's better on a bike than a car

And I mean a real super bike

no doubt, I got my lottery ticket in hand. I have this dream to go to the ducati factory, walk along side my bike as it is built and then giving it a good flogging around Italy. If it happens, I'll stop by Monza and let you know what i think about it then.

btw, I just watched the WSB race on tv at Monza. The riders looked stressed about the conditions. good race though

I enjoyed doing the vettel challenge on monza.

Also, 👍 for smashing pumpkins reference

The key to road course racing, more often than not, is exit speed. Monza is one giant exercise in exit speeds. If you can learn to be fast at Monza you can be fast on any track. 👍 Of course the exaggerated draft often negates any advantage gained from a good exit speed. 👎 But my point remains, Monza teaches you a lot about driving fast. :sly:

Monza does have at least one nice transition section (left-right-left by the giant sandbox), a couple nice sweepers, a couple tricky chicanes that teach braking points, and a bunch of straights for your full-throttle pleasure. It is important to bring the right car to this track for the most enjoyment - the Minolta Toyota and the Zonda Race Car come to mind.

My least favorites are Indy and Daytona ovals, and all of the 'rings that go around the long 12-mile forested section (Nurburgring Nordschleife, Nurburgring 24-hours, Nurburgring type-V)... maybe I'll warm up to it someday but right now I feel the same way about these tracks as the OP feels about Monza. What's the difference between 24h and type-V anyway?

finally, someone picked up on it, 1000 points to you sir 👍

I am positive that many more picked up on it but chose not to comment. Clever thread title though. 👍

For the longest time, I did not like racing on The Ring. It's narrow, way too many curves to go off of lol, and it's long. Lately I've been grinding the 650 pp seasonal there and I've grown accustomed to that track. I can now say I know pretty much every inch of that track. Now my least favorite track in the game is Suzuka. I can't seem to find the speed there.

My least favorite track is Madrid. The only car I can use consistently is the Furai with a suspension tune I found in another thread. I don't really like Fuji but can win there with most any car I have driven. I don't know what it is with Madrid. I have practiced it over and over and just get more frustrated every time. I personally love Monza for it's what it's worth.

I hate Tokyo R246 and I love Monza! It is a great high speed track as long as you don't want to cheat it! Other favorites are Spa, the Nurb and Laguna Seca.

Minus most of the rally courses, I always find myself avoiding Madrid. I find it a really hard track to race people closely on.

I do like Monza however, always a fun challenge to find good lines around the last corner.

Actually, in a more powerful car, I think the Ascari complex is 1 of the best parts of track in the world! :dopey:

As for a dumb track - London Reverse. No idea whatsoever on the corners and not even 1 exciting corner.

I really dislike Fuji in all its guises. Cutting, mad runoffs and unnatural camber all add up to a headache to race on. I thought it made an awful F1 track too, not a patch on Suzuka. New York will however always be my most disliked track in the GT series. Not upset it went at all.
