I hope you all learn something from this:

There once was a king who was always sad. One day, an advisor had an idea to send out all the knights to find a truly happy man in the kingdom, and bring his shirt to the king to wear. Every man in the kingdom was upset about something. Money, family, land. When all hope was lost, on the very outskirts of town, lived a man in a run-down shack. They asked if he was ever sad or angry, and he never was. They reported back to the king, and they were asked why they didnt have his shirt, and the knights said, he was too poor to afford one.

Learn slefish people!

;)

If I were so poor, that I couldn't afford a shirt, I could tell you that I would be miserable.

I don't get what the moral of this story is.

Poor people are happy?

What would the shirt have told them if he did have one?

Is everyone in the world unhappy?

A proverb that I like to use: "You can't ride a wet horse to Germany".

I hope everyone learns something from that.

I thought this was important. But it isn't. It's just a kindergarden story. What do they call stories with a lesson in them again?

"A load of old toss", I think.

So. Poor people are happy. In that case, screw giving aid to Africa. They're all REALLY poor, so they're practically priapic.

That's what I was thinking.

I'm selfish. I work just hard enough to make money. I keep as much of it as I'm allowed to; I spend a bunch and I save some for later.

I'm happy.

What's the moral of my story? Let's try, "Bitter people who know nothing about being rich nor poor like to make up stupid stories about how rich people are unhappy and poor people are happy, despite the fact that neither is usually the truth." It's a work in progress.

There's something wrong with that guy. Human beings are not inherently happy about their lives. We've been implanted with a natural instinct to aquire. It's hard-wired. Years of evolution have trained us that we can never have too much and that we must never stop being competetive. The trick is being aware of that and accepting it as part of your life.

A dude who is happy about everything in his life but can't afford to buy a shirt probably has suffered some sort of brain damage. He's a prime candidate for a "do not procreate with this person" sticker on his forehead. In short, he's lost a portion of his humanity - the competetive "I'm a strong capable human being who can provide for himself and his offspring" natural trait of his species. He will likely die an early death from disease, starvation, cold or a combination of each since he places no value on his ability to provide himself even a simple shirt.

Honestly, I'm surprised any adult can read that story and come away thinking that it has a good point.

If you don't have anything, then you're (literally) nothing.

"I think, therefore I am" – You have to have a brain to think.

And anybody with half a brain would want a shirt.

So I don't need a woman for sex?

oh, wait...

...ewww. your "moral" is sick!

the moral is: you dont have to be rcih, or have anything to be happy!

Your point? Everyone's heard that before.

However, we could turn this into a debate on morality and leave it in the opinions forum.

until you freeze your dick off during an ice age.

I agree. I don't need a shirt to be happy. Nor do I need pants. When school starts up, I'll take both off before I go to school 👍

I've probably heard better stories before. I think the story focusing on the shirt was a mistake.

More interesting to read. Has more truth in it than that shirt story.
