It's already common in the Events section to start a race at an exact time to increase the odds racing fellow GTP-members. :)

Maybe it's an idea to set a standard timeframe to start races for all GTP-members who want to race in whatever online event.
If all GTP-members try to start races in 15 minutes intervals (X:00, X:15, X:30, X:45) the odds are greatly increased to race each other. It crossed my mind to set the interval to 10 minutes, but then there is no time for a quicktune between races. Also when there is a long wait before the start (few drivers) the 10 minutes is too short.

I am certain that if all GTP-drivers stick to this (or another) "GTP timeframe-code" :D, we see a big increase in fellow GTP-races. 👍
It's even possible that start-times (from hitting X to the actual racestart) will be faster because of the increase in online players at that moment.

Just wait in the pre-launch screen and look at the big clock on screen to hit start at the 15 minute interval.

Any other ideas?

Update:

At the moment most of us agree to go for a 15 minute interval (for the time being), so the starting-times (for every online race, except the special ones from the event-forum) will be:

hh:00H
hh:15H
hh:30H
hh:45H

Have fun racing online!

Even I can follow this plan.

If only I had more time for GT5 at the moment :-|

I tend to find that if I start a race and there's lots of tags in there with me I rattle the restart button after the race so I end up racing them again. Seems quite common cos I'll often stay in a cycle with a bunch of the same racers for quite a while.

Good idea tho - I'd say make the increments 5mins tho cos it's possible to turn on the ps3 at 01mins and then have to wait 14mins to start a race.

Yes, that's what I do at the moment when I had a good race, and I don't mind if others do it as wel.
But there is a problem when you want to slightly tune your car in between races. You will get "out of sync" with the other racers. Secondly, when you mis the cut, it's nearly impossible to race those guys again without a standard starting time.

It's only a suggestion, but I think it will greatly improve the online GTP-racing community. :)

Like 5gram (at least you have the number 5 when abbraviated like this:)) says, i too think the 15 minute interval is a tad too long.

Seeing a race usually takes around 7-8 minutes and taking into account a minute or so for the 'player matching', and 30seconds after finishing waiting to see if i can make it to the finish too ;) , i wonder if a 10 minute interval is reachable, we can then 'up' the number of races from 4 to 6 / hour.

Though, admittedly, the schedule may be a bit too tight to be practical, i'd still like to try it though.

Pentagram, i think the 5 minute interval is a tad too short seeing the races take more then 5.

Let me know what you think,

Yeah 5 minutes is abit too long, if you can't wait 15 minutes to race a quality race, than jump in another one w/o GTP members... I think this is a great idea. You will definatly see a noticable amount of GTP players in these rooms, at these times after we all follow this...

Yeah - makes sense now. I'll be adopting this policy from this evening. Hope to see y'all on the track.

A 5 minute interval will only work if there are many GTP-racers at a given moment online. Given the many online events at the moment, the odds to race against GTP members in such a short timeframe is slim.

Let's see how it's working out the next days with the 15 minute interval.

This was the whole reason I started the Dodge Viper/Suzuki Swift Cup in order to gather GTP members together in some races with some kind of equal racing in place (one car/multiple tunes).

I dont see what you're trying to do thats really new....have I missed something?

I have no problems waiting a couple of minutes for a quality race, i can wait all week if needed.

And that's where the crux is, i can wait -if needed-.

But if i join a race at 15:00, and finish it at 15:09, i'd have no problems joining the next at 15:10, rather then 15:15.

Epecially if that gives me a 50% increase in the number if races i can race.

It's not possible to 'not wait' in the current scenario as that will get you 'out of sync'. (i usually end up hosting such a race and i can't just quit the race to make it to the xx:15 slot).

Maybe i just want too much races out of the hour (forgive me, i need the practice ;))

Yours and other threads in the events forum are the basis for this thread in the standard forum, with the exeption of the timeframe. This should be a standard for all GTP_racers online, not only for a specific event to attract fellow-racers. If I don't want to participate in a specific "forum-event-race", it should still be possible to greatly enhance the chance to race GTP_members in whatever race we choose.

Great idea guys..I'll be seeing you out there on the track!

why do people ahve that tag on there names is it a clan or sumthin??

GTP? stands for GTPlanet(GranTurismoPlanet) dude.. We're the most Elite drivers in GT5:P..👍:sly:

Yeah I can too..lol..

BTW I love your avatar..

So has it been agreed? 5, 10 or 15 minute intervals? I reckon 10 mins myself, allowing for tuning time and connection delays...

I agree with both sides here (10 or 15 minutes). 10 is very close if people wanna make setup changes or change cars and 15 is to much. The people who don't change anything will just sit there doing nothing for 5 or 6 minutes.

So now my question is: Why not make it 12 minutes?

Gives you enough time to have a race and make a few changes to the setup of your car or even change cars without the others having to wait too long. Also there will be one race more every hour compared to the 15 minutes 👍

Edit: just a sugestion of course, there will probably be people sticking to the 15 minutes already.

It's a good possibility, but I think there will be some mistakes by starting at the wrong minute (00,12,24,36,48). Secondly 4 or 5 races in 1 hour is not such a large difference.

Also, the starttime between going online and actually starting the race can be 3 minutes or more if you are unlucky or there is a problem with the host. 12 minutes is in most of these cases too short.

I think it should stay at 15 mins myself. Gives me time to grab another beer and roll a quick cig. :sly:
