Most challenging licence

So I'm trying to complete all the licences with gold trophies and only have three left to do. The fact that I've got this far really surprises me because there were some I really thought 'no way... I'll never do that'. Anyway, I'm currently stuck on IB-3, the cone slalom in that horrible neon yellowy/green Toyota. I'm 0.99 seconds away from gold but I can tell this is going to take a looong time to beat.

I've been watching Dan Holland's videos for most of the licences, which have really helped but his run on IB-3 is inhuman, I just don't understand how it's possible to do a cone slalom at full throttle.

So, what is/was your most challenging licence?

Yeah, tell me about it. I'm leaving IC-10 and IA-10 till last, 'cause the 2-lap battles are generally more fun than time trials. Still, probably won't be calling IC-10 'fun' after losing for the hundredth time.
 
I didn't find any licence test to be challenging. But the third braking test took me a lot, a hell lot of trial and error.
 
the license tests on GT5 were considerably easier to gold than in any previous Gran Turismo. Some of them you may have to try a couple of times but none of them are as difficult as they were in GT4

Me neither. Most of the licenses wasn't hard, it just needed the right moment to approach it, for me that is. But the hardest for me is the stopping challenges.

Yeah, that was a pain. I ended up doing a 90˚ handbrake turn to beat it.

What is your settings ? you play with a wheel / DS3, and what have you set your TC & ABS to ?

I use a DS3. The settings are pretty limited on IB-3. The only variables are Active Steering, which I have set to Off and ABS, which I just leave on 1. Controller Steering Sensitivity I leave on 0. I know a lot of people say to turn it right up to 7 but that just makes the car too twitchy for me.

My main problem is I go too close to the cones on the inside. I swear sometimes I don't even hit them but it still disqualifies me. I probably only finish 1 run in about 15 because of hitting cones.
 
The cone slalom is a difficult one alright. I've got almost all gold but can't even silver this one.:( really it's by far the hardest one. The rest are pretty easy, even the braking ones.
 
The cone salom one was also a little tricky.
 
I gold it and im not a supergood driver. (compared to others in online racing)

It was hard but just kept retrying And watching the replay again and again :)
It feels like if u do the middle cones a few inches to wide the last cones become impossible at that speed.
Pedal to the metal and hope u turn/slide just right .

Braking in the wet with the GTR is the only test that comes to mind. It's the only test I recall being frustrated with.
 
IC-10 was truly, truly obnoxious back before there PD turned off contact failures in licence tests.
 
This cone slalom is really starting to hack me off now. I can't even come close to the 18:599 I got before. I probably only make it to the finish line once in every 20 attempts and then to get a lousy time is so disheartening.

I think after 500+ tries the gold trophy should be awarded out of sympathy!

Yes, this one is a complete frustration generator. I got lucky getting this one, it was one of the last two I got for all golds.

The other one? Oh this one:


I hated this one with....a....PASSION.:ouch:

Keyboard with stuck enter key and rubberband on trothle .
500 times failed and gold .

Not so good idea :p

But yeah some challenges seem unbreakable , like the eiger world tour with the alfa , and the nashcar thing with the asm on ...

Top Gear top tip: Use the rear outside camera view - I was able to get very close to the cones with that (I never drive with it otherwise) and got gold on that. Took me like 10 tries though, even in that view.

The Eiger Grand Tour with the Afla Romeo 8C was indeed a pain, it was one of my last golds with the DualShock 3. That car handles horribly and it is put on a track that will make it very easy to see in very little time.

Woo I remember ib-3...but my worst ever was the eiger short track with the the alpha Romeo 8c mentioned above...what a pain to gold

I spent ages on that and eventually used the handbrake to flick it around the corner. I've used the handbrake on quite a few licences, I find it really helps so long as you're not going too fast.

Just golded IA-10 in the Lambo. Don't know why I was so afraid of doing that one, it was a breeze and probably one of the most fun licence tests. I think the reason I used to find it so hard is because you didn't use to be able to touch the other cars, whereas now it's okay I just shunt everyone out of the way! Clean driver? Me? Never.

Two licences to go!
 
Aston Martin 1000m braking was the hardest for me. Then I saw a couple of videos and taking the car into the stopping area sideways make it real easy. BMW at Schumacher S was a pain, until I used the full width of the track on entry. The S license was super easy, apart from the Ferrari P330 (I think that's what it was). I just couldn't get to grips with it.
All golded now, so just some challenges left (damn Alfa 8c and The Lambo at Toscana).
