Cheats, I don't know about that... I too are in the OP's situation...

However I would think there would be NO harm in Arcade having everything. This point I would normally suggest after licenses, but normally in a GT game you could do them all at the start... but GUESS WHAT??? PD fiddled around with that too... now you have to Level up to get to do them all. All cars in Arcade would help assist the 'GT Lifers' choose what cars they want to target.

I've had hoped that PD would've had a rethink about the gameplay... GT5 has brought back the ole bad memories of slogging it out with cars I'm not interested with, to get to those I am...

I used to be able to just Gold, and waste time in Arcade while a friend engrossed themselves in the game and near on completed the game and gave me the save, so I could then waste ridiculous amounts of times in the Enduro's, each time trying to complete with least powered car as possible and Arcade, you know, what I'm interested in, but GUESS WHAT??? PD fiddled around with that too... no longer can get a game save...

GT5 has some features I want to use lots... more so than any other GT version previous. Online & Track Creator/Editor... I just don't know if I can tolerate the pain to get there...

Yes, my view may change upon arrival of my long awaited G27, but the GT Life build up will still help me lose my enthusiasm...

Now if I had access to every car in Arcade I would be enjoying this game a hell of alot more than I do at present. You shouldn't have to 'complete GT Life' to enjoy the game the way you want to.

There would be no harm in a 'Redeem Code' code of this nature for Arcade... those who want to use it will, heck those who didn't want to, probably still would anyway...

Just saying.

I agree, it's a problem that GT mode is the focus of the game. If online, arcade, and GT mode were all stand alone, everything would be fine. The first two for those who just want to race, and the latter for those seeking an adventure/driving game.

I paid full price for 1000 cars, tracks etc.

Actually you paid for an opportunity to drive a 1000 cars on such and such tracks. Its up to YOU to actually do it.

Just because you paid $800 for tickets to a cruise, it doesn't automatically mean your going to have a good time, you still have to get up and do the activities and whatnot.

Basically I just want lots of cars for online and lots of xp to unlock new single player races.

Maybe allowing me to use my PSP cars online would help out.
Maybe it'd also be nice to earn money and/or xp from online racing.

That's not cheating, it's rebalancing, which is a whole different animal.
I've discovered that I'm certainly not ever going to find the competition I want offline and online gives me no money/xp to buy new cars :(

The only reason your post was even tolerated and not locked instantly is because of all the new users (many will be gone again in a week) and because we're all busy playing the game. Play the game however you want, it's a game. But this is GTplanet, and if you want to cheat you don't belong here. Bye.

machschnel, thank you for contributing to GTPlanet. 👍

Just because you paid $800 for tickets to a cruise, it doesn't automatically mean your going to have a good time, you still have to get up and do the activities and whatnot.

But if the methods that the cruise uses to organize the events are terrible and frustrating, then complaints should be submitted. GT5 in particular has gone above and beyond with respect to making GT mode a chore, even compared to older games.

-Money isn't enough to buy a car, you need to be a certain level

-Online no longer gives money, so you must play GT mode to progress

-Half of arcade mode is burried in GT mode

-You can't even transfer GT5P data, which PD said you would be able to do

GT (and sadly many other things) adhere to the tradational ways of doing things for no reason other than they are traditional instead of the best way of doing things. It's not right. You can't cheat yourself. Unlocking all of GT mode would only lead to more enjoyment. Even if online was factored in, what would starting the game will all cars do for someone over someone who wants to go through the whole GT mode thing? A well designed online mode would prevent unfair races in the first place. GT5's online mode as is, is not ideal, but even then, if someone wants to slog through GT mode, who's fault is it that he doesn't have the best cars for online? Who says that everyone online with all the cars will only want to race with Red Bull X1's?

It doesn't help that most of the cars are generally twice as expensive as they should be, and the game is far more stingy in regards to giving away money than previous games.

Poor analogy to use.

GT5 is like buying an $800 cruise ticket and then the Captain demanding that you become part of the crew on the bridge. You can get to each destination, but you have to work for it. Some people might like working on the bridge of an ocean liner so it's great for them, and why should they care if someone else doesn't and would rather tick the "Do not become part of crew" box and relax as they're effortlessly transported from one beautiful location to another?

It's true that GT5 has always been like this, arcade mode used to lock a huge proportion of the tracks, but the unlocking process was simpler. People that have played one before (not everyone, then) should know what they're getting in to.

I wouldn't care if there was an "Unlock everything in arcade mode" option. It wouldn't affect me.

I agree with the OP. I personally enjoy working my way through GT mode and wouldn't use cheats if they were available, but not everyone has the time/desire to do that. If someone wants to just jump in a car and take it around a track, that should be an option for them too. I don't understand why arcade mode doesn't work like that.

I would just like to be able to transfer my lisences and all the money and cars I have from prologue to GT5. Seriously, I paid half price for 1/50th of GT5, played it for hours on end, and now cant use it. BUT, you can transfer cars from your PSP. What a waste of time and money.

Codemasters released DLC (..paid for) for Dirt 2 that enabled people to unlock everything. If people want to take a shortcut to unlock all the cars etc, it doesn't bother me...I would rather pay for the ability to make a backup of my save game file.

I tried very hard to NOT judge anyone for wanting to "cheat". Bringing out the newb card is real big of you, moderator. This place sure changed.

You got me. I mean, two posts back in 2005 really does make you the voice of GTPlanet. Feel free to continue to speak for us all.

People who suck up to the op's should be hung, quartered and stuck in a barrel xD

No but seriously, cheating does completely and utterly ruin the experience and magic of the game and should be looked down upon. For me, right now what mystifies me is knowing how each track unfolds and how the car I'm driving reacts to that track. When I save up and buy an upgrade, having driven that car for some time i can ACTUALLY see and feel the performance difference and this forces me to adjust my driving style. This is the magic that can be captured in this simulator from real life.

Ugh, that's so wrong. You already bought the game, devs shouldn't be charging additional money to use the content already on the disk :yuck:

It's a sad day when DLC has taken the place of cheat codes...

How does it ruin your experience? You're not being forced to cheat. You're essentially saying that your way of playing is better, so everyone should play that way too.

Now let me make this clear, I want cheats for Gran Turismo 5. A money cheat, an unlock everything in Arcade mode cheat etc.
There has never been a recorded example of a cheat code appearing in a Gran Turismo game. I see no reason why Polyphony should suddenly change their stance on tht.

I agree with you, no one is forced to do anything. However, having played Diablo 1 on the PC some time in the distant past, only a select few cheated. They went around and gave people whatever they wanted. Soon enough everyone started to cheat and this utterly killed the online experiance. Not that im making a direct comparison to a RPG game, but moreover the online element itself.

Sorry, AND, the prices REALLY need fixed. I paid 60K for a used Mazdaspeed6 ( only because I actually have one. That I paid $22k for after a $3200 discount and a $3500 rebate ) and only paid 44K for a Toyota Touring car. A KnN type filter costs 450? Prices for new cars are pretty close, but parts and stuff are really messed up.

Everyone take a minute!

I've just had to go back through this thread and filter out the garbage. Some of the stuff that is being posted is personal bordering on abusive. Anyone who continues with it will be the subject of moderator action, with the thread being locked up shortly thereafter. It's only going to take one more post to condemn this thread to closure.

I empathize with the OP's plight, but of course it ruins the fun for everyone else if cheats are introduced. You see, I don't want to spend hours grinding away to get the cars to find my mate has it, and all the others because he spent 30 seconds plugging in the code. I don't want to cheat, and I don't particularly want others too. I do however feel sorry those who don't have the time to spend getting all the cars they want, 1000 cars means nothing if you can only afford a handful. :indiff:

In GT4 I used a save game that had 100% all cars and tons of cash. This was ideal for me. I spent the next 5 years driving each and every car on the nurburgring. Why? because it makes me happy.

GT5P came out and i loved the PP system. I could drive, in order, from the slowest to the fastest car. once again i got a save with all cars and drove them all.

Forza 3 came out. No need for a cheat save! I could drive all the cars as I saw fit with no license or level restriction. I drove all the cars. in order of PI number from slowest to the fastest around Suzuka.

GT5 comes out and prevents me from ever likely being able to enjoy this game as I have enjoyed the last 3 serious racing games in my life over the past 5 years. They took away the PP system.... BOO... and the locked everything up tight so only the GT elite will ever get to experience the whole game. I love the graphics. Love the physics and have had a lot of fun. But I am ENDLESSLY dissapointed in how this game has turned out.

GIVE ME MY "CHEAT" SAVE!!!! i really have no desire to race online. I only want to drive all 1030+ cars plus DLC cars around the ring.

I agree but it will fall on deaf ears... Godknows where you or even how you get things changed in games these day.. I think wheel rotation is a vital option but who do you ask.
Yes yes yes give us all the cars in arcade so time trial will be a blast then I can get on to the real racing online.

Whatever your circumstances are, well, it is what it is. PD can't cater to everyone's needs. Surely you can find enjoyment in playing, even with your limited schedule. You just won't achieve your goals as fast as others achieve theirs.

I doubt PD would go this route even if there were an insane amount of demand. It just doesn't suit the GT series or PD's image. Correct me if I'm wrong, I skipped GT3 and played GT4 for a month or so.

The comments regarding NFS and other racing sims do hold some value though. These games are alternatives to Gran Turismo and is probably why the users here suggested it. But the way they said it probably wasn't the nicest ;p.

PD probably understands that most of its fans and followers know what to expect from a GT game.

Gran Turismo is all about slow progression and patience. You start from crap and end up with the best. It is as simple as that.

Ok so the OP mentioned FFXIII and as far as I know(haven't played the game but heard from people who have) the game requires a lot of hours from the player, after all if you want the ultimate weapons you're gonna have to work long and hard to get them that is a vital part of the game and it cannot be just skipped through.

I know there are some people wouldn't abuse of the cheats or instantly getting a 100% save data, but sadly, as the internet has shown us over the years, for every person that won't abuse of those things there are 100 people who will, ultimately damaging part of the experience.

In the online days of GT5P there were a lot of players with more credits than talent and spent their days driving the Tuned Ford GTs and making a wreck not being able to control the car and bumping into the other racers, while that's still possible in GT5 at least it takes those players a lot more time and maybe just maybe they'll get tired of the game before that happens.

I can understand where you are coming from - partly. Yes it's an amazing feeling, finally getting Gold in a tedious event, knowing you've finally unlocked your favorite track. Yes, you will feel a huge sense of relief after repeating the same race 100x to earn enough money for that special car you desire. But with me, I cannot invest enough time in this game to unlock everything. Are you saying I should never get to play the Top Gear Track because I can't afford to spend a few hours driving a car in a game that I wouldn't even drive in real life?

I was going to post a big long well thought out argument here but there won't ever be any cheats anyway so I won't bother. Instead let me just say this...

Gran Turismo is about the journey not the destination.

You really dont have to grind at all if you can manage to do all the license and special events you can make a good pile of cash.

I was on the side of the OP being busy so busy with the real world (life, work, family, other hobbies, etc.) and thinking that having locked content is fine, but GT5 has everything locked down! :yuck:

I will try your suggestion before making a decision on the original post.
:)
