Come on guys, one reason why Arcade mode shouldn't have everything unlocked. Not some "witty" image, not a half-baked response. Just a clear, concise reason why after spending $80 I can't have fun, fun that wouldn't effect anyone in the slightest.

I'd be in Arcade, happy as larry. You'd be in GT Life/Online, happy aswell.

Problem?

Doesn't sound like you want a cheat...sounds like you want a sandbox mode.

The most basic answer is that PD designed the game the way they wanted to and not the way you wanted to. If you're that unhappy spending $80 on a game that doesn't do what you want it to do, then return it or sell it. Problem solved.

What if I have 5 friends that have done the cheat. Are they all going put their Vipers and Ferrari's aside so I can join in my Mx-5?

Depends on your friends. Having Vipers and Ferraris won't stop you from racing Miatas or even Fiat 500's.

Either I am going to have to cheat, or I am going to play by myself.
But then if you don't want to cheat, then going through the challenge of GT mode is more worth it than racing with them, right (serious question)? What if they just grinded away at GT5 like me, and got one of their dream cars [Viper ACR with 800 hp and max weight reduction] in less than a day? Even without "cheating" being available, the situation could still happen.

Cheating to race with them, will ruin the offline aspect.
If the locked save feature was not around, you could cheat on one save for online and save GT mode for yourself on your main save.

Not cheating and not playing with them may ruin the online aspect at least until I have got far enough to buy cars of equal parity.

I believe enjoying the challenge of offline and cheating to be mutually exclusive.
But you used a multiplayer example. Not nickpicking, but you're kind of putting people who don't prioritize GT mode off to the side.

You want to enjoy GT mode, but now you also want to enjoy multiplayer. I just can't enjoy online because GT mode is in the way.

Doesn't make any sense to me that only some, and not all, of the cars and tracks are available in arcade mode now! OP, I think you threw some people into a frenzy by mentioning the word 'cheat'. How is using arcade mode cheating? Just put the rest of the cars and tracks in there. I'm not too fond of the whole 'career' mode thing anymore either. Been there, done that and the formula in this version is nothing unique. I just want to race the cars and tracks they've been hyping all along.

*Laughs*. I mean no disrespect, but the game has been out like three days. And already you want to cheat it? Unbelievable.

I work a 40-hour week, as well. I have to balance this time with other stuff. I have a life, in other words, but I'm the opposite of you. I can't wait to just sit there, "grinding" the same race over and over again. That's what I did with the very first GT, and that's what I'll do tonight! :D

I'll give you one good reason why cheating is a bad idea. Actually two.

1. Why spend all this money on a brand new game and NOT play it!?

2. Your skills won't improve. And eventually you'll find yourself (later) needing to attack better, faster races, but you'll get stuck. Then you'll try to see if B-spec can do any better than you. Then, assuming all that fails, you come here, asking us why you can't get past such-and-such level. You'll have no idea of the finer nuances of tuning or driving.

It's your game of course. Do whatever you want. I hope you never find what you're looking for, though.

The bulk of what you say is moot.

1st, I did spend all this money on a brand new game and I would argue that driving cars and tracks I don't want to does not constitute playing it.

2nd, I don't have the time to become an incredibly skilled tuner/driver, nor do I want to. Why waste precious time driving cars with less horsepower than my first road car?

Why waste precious time driving cars with less horsepower than my first road car?

Because in the game, you can drive any car at its limit, all the time. You can't do that with your own car unless you take it to a track, which is a lot more difficult to do than switching on the PS3. And the consequences of getting wrong are somewhat more serious. Plus power isn't everything IMO, I had more fun in GT4 driving a Fiat 500 than one of the million variations of Skyline.

AFAIK there's never been cheats for GT, nor will there be. If you find a way to do it you will probably risk being banned from the GT online modes, depends on how it tracks that stuff.

Sorry for playing devil's advocate here, but, if you don't have the time to play GT, or are unwilling to wait a bit longer than others to get to the same point - You may want to skip on playing the game at all for now and stick with something you can enjoy in those few hours a week you have.

I don't see why anyone else cares what others do with their single player... If he just gets all cars and courses for arcade mode then who does that hurt?

I would hope there is indeed some cheat built in where by you can get all cars and tracks but your can't use anything in online mode and you negate your trophies and such... for that, earn it or use the stock cars from the online garages... but as far as some guy at home on his own time I see no problem with a cheat to give him access to evertyhing in the game.

All of us in here talking about how it takes away from teh experience and you won't get better seem to forget that if he desn't have a cheat he probably wn't be playing at all and thus gets none of that stuff anyway...

We all appreciate doing this the hard way like we are doing it, why can't we respect taht others might not and help them have a good time too? It doesn't hurt you..

Well. If theres is cheat. We presume you guys, that uses it... will not pass by the game learning curve. RIght? So, you´ll be able to buy extremely powered and "fun" cars, just to race online, right? Even if those cars are notably more difficult to drive, right? Guess what would happen with online experience, a full grid of ZONDAS driven by cheaters? Awesome huh? Destruction derby...

Thats what i think.

Well actually I wouldn't mind if everything was unlocked in arcade mode. It shouldn't have any impact on the gt live mode or online play. Just separate the 2 completely. Gt live would still give you the advantage of special events and museum cards etc..

As now I already think the game is a lot of grind, and if you want to get ahead fast its mostly driving an overpowered car on an oval track in a or b-spec. Either to level up for an event you want to compete in or to buy an competitive car for it.

And as me and some friends frequently end up spending an evening racing prologue in split screen. Which btw is one of my favorite ways to play a game. I now have to just grind away in order to buy interesting cars of my m8's preferred brands as well.

If I wanted to be rewarded for grinding away mindlessly i would play an mmorpg instead. Come to think of it ever since mmorpg's became popular they started to implement grind based gameplay elements in nearly every game thinking it would make it more fun somehow?

No... I would assume the cheat would limit to single player.. besides you know online most races there is a grage to choose form already with tons of high power cars...

Honestly I wouldn't mind a cheat as I may well 100% GT5 but it will take a long time to buy and try all the cars again... I wouldn't mind, once I know I am done getting my grinding enjoyment out, just having the rest of the cars because if I have to "work" for them there is a point at which I just won't bother...

Arcade mode should be limited as it is now IMO as to not spoil the experience of driving that much wanted car for the first time. I think the amount of credits earned
is justified as well, GT was never easy, you always had to plan your attack in order to drive what you wanted.

the oldest cheat in the book of Gran Turismo is to buy a car and before going anywhere with the car , go and change the oil , it will give you as much as 20HP increase.

Now let me make this clear, I want cheats for Gran Turismo 5. A money cheat, an unlock everything in Arcade mode cheat etc. You see, I work 40+ hours a week and that plus you know, living a life outside of gaming, leaves me a few hours a week game time. Do I want to spend that precious time grinding the same car on the same track to get money for a car I don't want to then repeat the process over ad nauseum?

I already know the response will be largely against it (no idea why). An Arcade mode cheat would be fine - those that did grind away their life in the career mode can still feel pride in knowing what they have achieved, without questioned what's in someone's garage.

When I went in to buy this game, I saw Final Fantasy 13 and GT5 sitting next to each other. Did i pick FF13? Of course not, yet I feel in a small way as if I have.. I wanted a racing game. Driving cars with less power than my half decent road car is not "fun" in any sense of the word, even if I'm leveling up.

So please, someone give me one good reason why cheats would have an adverse effect on anything other than the amount of boredom I'm currently experiencing.

Agreed!!! I very much like this game but, I don't want to spend a lifetime getting the cars. GT6 would be out before I even had 3/4ths of them at the rate I'm going. There needs to be DLC to unlock all the cars in arcade mode or this game is getting sold. I don't have the patience or tolerance to do race after race 100 times over with lackluster cars for very little pay when all I want to do is drive the most coveted cars in the game and experience the thrill of those rides. I get no thrill whatsoever out of driving cars that would have trouble being sold in a used car dealership at a 50% discount. I get no thrill whatsoever out of driving cars I could go faster than riding on a unicycle with flat tires. Those cars are what you drive in GT mode from what I've played so far and I'm not happy about it. I didn't purchase the game to lug those kinds of cars around the tracks with a smile on my face and have no desire whatsoever to drive them so why deny me access to the cars I want to whip around the tracks for a few laps in arcade mode for a change of pace. I am doing GT mode but, I can't even race with the nice cars I do want even though I have enough money to afford them because I'm not a level 17+ so I'm forced to lug around uninteresting cars for hours to get my exp. level up but in order to do that I have to spend all my money on cars for special class events I would rather skip and by the time I have enough exp. I don't have enough money for the car I originally wanted. It's too frustrating to be doing this and I haven't heard that there are any big paying events in the game so I've lost hope in ever getting all the cars I want because of this or even getting to drive all the worthwhile ones.

I am in full agreement with the OP. This needs to be done.

Cheats in any game are pointless. Why buy the game if you don't have time to play? Did you buy the game just to see the 100% screen through cheats? I'd never use cheats, especially in GT5. I bought it to drive it. Even if I only got to play 5 hours a week, there's accomplishments to go earn.

Yes, I like cheats.

I got x-ploder cheat discs for GT3 and GT4 to get a ridiculous amount of money to begin with, as I don't like having to re-do the most efficient race for money over and over again to win enough money to buy the cars I want. Also I really just want ALL the race cars which are WAY too expensive to buy all of them without cheating.

And this didn't ruin the game for me at all, I only tune my cars a little, never to the max (exhaust, racing gearbox/suspension, racing chip, weight reduction, tyres) and not all of these for one car and often none of them at all.

I also pick cars to make the race close with the AI to make the racing more exciting ~70 A Spec Pts in GT4 give or take 20, I got all golds in the licences so I'm not doing it because I'm not good enough at the game. I got GT4 the day it came out and I have just 5 more races to 100% the game (that's a long slog as I can't play the game that often).

So I totally agree cheats would be great mainly just so I can drive all the cars I want, it's a victimless crime.

I dont understand this argument at all. Maybe you bought the game because, I dunno, you want to race cars? You have time to "race" but not time to grind through the entire game to get to the cars you want?

Its nothing to do with wanting to see 100% on your screen... some people just want to drive nice cars and dont have the time to go through a bunch of crap cars first.

I'm all for having cheats, or if not cheats, having an option to unlock all cars in arcade mode. Even online I dont see it it as a huge issue if people want to go straight to the good cars. If you have experience racing, say, the F1 car in Live for Speed, you're probably capable of driving some of the faster cars in GT without having to grind through all the low end cars first.

GT has been like this since the very first game. It's a quintessentially Japanese game design mindset - But on the other hand, there are very few games that start out with everything unlocked. I can't think of any at the moment anyway.

How is this different from any other game? For example, if you want to fight the final boss in Final Fight or Super Mario or Mortal Kombat or whatever, you gotta climb the ladder and fight lesser opponents first. You wanna be a level 50 fighter in WoW, you gotta rack up a lot of experience points and start at level 1.

PD has dictated that this is how THEIR game works. You start out at the bottom and work your way up. They didn't build cheats into the game. Live with it or don't play.

Cheats have their uses. Take VV's uber save for GT4 for example. Everything unlocked, all cars / tracks etc. An essential piece of kit if you were a serious participant in OLR. so, it's not completly pointless.

Why buy the game if I don't have time to play it? Horses for courses. 👍

i liked the gt4 cheat disk used it for cash only had great fun with it. besides most race has a limit too wat u can do so i would like an infinite money cheat.

I might have agreed with the original poster back in the GT4 Days. I put a cheat in place and then lavished myself with my favourite car and track and had fun. In fact I seldom went into GT Life mode, What's the point when you have everything.

In effect what I had was an Arcade version of a racing game, and there are lot's of versions in this genre that you can choose from, indeed in grid2 you can BUY the unlock to all events and cars..

I did this and guess what it killed the games longevity! for me anyway..

Perhaps it's a reflection of our society that some folk want that quick fix, and feel it should be available to them on a plate without effort. well life's not like that always.

You know one of the things I did learn in my cheated Gt4 was that in two player racing, racing the most powerful cars wasn't always the most fun.

In fact racing underpowered cars usually had us in fits of laughter, and delivered a greater sense of achievement . Perhaps that's because we liked the competition and challenge, and not simply joyriding in fast cars.

Which is a long way of saying that I think GT5 should probably stay as it is imho.

However If someone wants to pay additional cash to unlock all cars and tracks then fine so be it take the money off them. But please restrict there ability to use these to arcade mode, No online use of these cars. I get fed up with online races where someone is clearly driving a car they cannot control. Where the method of cornering is to barge up the inside and use another car as a buffer shoving them into the wall at every opportunity.. please this is GT not NFS!

I must laugh at some of the comments involving GT purists. I agree, when I was 14/15 when GT came out, i'd have probably harked on about NOT cheating and that it is meant to be a Driving Simulator (As I was playing with a digital joypad!!).

Of course, things have moved on and now I drive real cars around real tracks in addition to working 50hrs week minimum over multiple shift patterns.

What I want from Gran Turismo is the ability to ENJOY the driving experience without worrying about forking out £800 for a new set of tyres :)

In order to do this I would very much like to have access to the majority of real life cars straight away without having to drive fartboxes through cones and can totally see the value of having a wad of cash.

For those who want to slog through the game, great, but to suggest that you are some sort of driving elitist is laughable and delusional.

ATEOTD, it's a game which means that it's purpose is to provide entertainment. Ultimately that entertainment, I think we can all agree on this one, comes from the driving of digital cars.

That is what Gran Turismo is about, thus is what GTPlanet is about.

How you get your enjoyment doesn't matter at all.

Ok here's an easy cheat for you. Create a new profile with the birthday as the current date. You will be gifted a car for your birthday. Then gift that car to your real profile. Depending on what year you put as your birth, you get different cars. Some of them can be sold for lots of cash.

I hope this post doesn't get deleted.

I personally don't have a problem with a 'cheat' code unlocking all cars and tracks in arcade mode - as long as they can't be used online.

One thing that does annoy me is the fact that when you go online, there is a choice of 50 or so cars that everyone can use, including lamborghini's etc. I think it would be much better if you could only use your GT mode cars, or at least have an option in the server configuration to only allow GT mode cars!

Needless to say I was disappointed when I took my first car online, only to be confronted by Zondas >.<
