Now let me make this clear, I want cheats for Gran Turismo 5. A money cheat, an unlock everything in Arcade mode cheat etc. You see, I work 40+ hours a week and that plus you know, living a life outside of gaming, leaves me a few hours a week game time. Do I want to spend that precious time grinding the same car on the same track to get money for a car I don't want to then repeat the process over ad nauseum?

I already know the response will be largely against it (no idea why). An Arcade mode cheat would be fine - those that did grind away their life in the career mode can still feel pride in knowing what they have achieved, without questioned what's in someone's garage.

When I went in to buy this game, I saw Final Fantasy 13 and GT5 sitting next to each other. Did i pick FF13? Of course not, yet I feel in a small way as if I have.. I wanted a racing game. Driving cars with less power than my half decent road car is not "fun" in any sense of the word, even if I'm leveling up.

So please, someone give me one good reason why cheats would have an adverse effect on anything other than the amount of boredom I'm currently experiencing.

Cheats in Gran Turismo

No Just No

I would never use cheats for a gt game no matter what my line of work is or how much time i have to play it ...

mods please LOCK :yuck:

You really dont have to grind at all if you can manage to do all the license and special events you can make a good pile of cash.

Shoulda bought Forza 3, that game throws all the best cars at you after only a few races.

I wouldn't care if cheats were implemented here, because as you say, I just wouldn't use them, but I don't think it's as important as removing the copy protection on save files.

Care to explain? Or am I meant to understand your point of view from a one word answer?

I keep reading about people struggling with money, B-spec keeps giving me knew cars that i need for the A-spec races. Now got a 3 min race worth 36k, easy money..

I still dont have the time even for that mate, a few hours a week, that's it. And it doesn't all go to GT5.

I totally agree with you.

Why ?

I have to choose between GT life and online racing, because I dont have time to spend on this game. I have a family.

In fact that's the only game I play. And online racing give me a lot of satisfaction. I dont care about the numbers of cars and parts I can buy, I dont care about all the events where I have to race against AI. It's fun for the first 4 or 5 hours but I prefer real people behind the wheel, it is more entertaining.

The only events I like are the specials events like the AMG one.

So any cheats ?

Glad to hear there is some support for the idea. I just feel like I am never going to be able to get 100% in the game, which in effect ruins it.

If you had of bought the signature edition you could have started the game with 11 cars, all awesome. Jast saying ;)

if cheats where ''legal'' to this game you would find less people online with cars thats been tuned but not to their max. something thats cool bout gt is the upgrading/tuning part ive got severeal cars atm but not one of them is tuned to the max. yet. just a thought.... :)
go for gold in licenses and do the specials then ull achive plenty of money.........

This thread needs a lock is more like it, Cheats? No time to play Video games? Then don't play them.

So any valid reasons against? You're kind of meant to argue your point with solid reasoning against my point of view. Aggression and slander only works in my favour

A typically infantile response.

I don't get why people are so defensive about the idea. Do you have no self-restraint? How would it affect you if there was an option to just unlock everything?

There are no valid reasons against it imho.

You pay for a game with 1000 cars and x number of tracks. Why should someone have to jump through hoops to use them?

This thread cracks me up! I would welcome some cheats in the same way you mentioned. Work a 45hour week, family, decorating a house and all the other stuff. Having the fun fast cars is where the fun is at!

All the replies that say "play need for speed" or "don't play video games" are such lame replies. We don't all have the time to spend hours getting gold on our license, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't want to have some fun with our cars. After all it's a game and I want entertaining. Driving an old split screen camper around the top gear test track is just not fun.

So anyway, that's my reply. Flame suit on :)

I think I have one. Don't get me wrong, I understand where you are coming from: An awful lot of the stuff in the game is far too expensive for what it does (for example, 95% of the used cars), and PD also took questionable steps to completely destroy the ability to get meaningful amounts of money in races. These combined create a need to constantly grind even worse than it was in GT3.

However, I think what should instead be done is a complete re-balancing of the game's credit system (slashing used cars prices, allowing prize cars to be won more than once, and generally restoring things to how they were in GT2 and GT4 would be a good start) rather than anything in the way of cheats. Implementing cheats to fix something that shouldn't be a problem in the first place is a lazy way to go about fixing said problem, and not one that helps out the people who don't want to use them even if they did solve the problem (like me).

Agree 100%.

I'm a big fan of sims, and the more realistic they are, the better. But I don't have the time/money to invest into a expensive gaming pc with wheel and stand.

So a PS3 with GT5 offers a realistic game that I can play with ease from the sofa with a controller and no fuss. But I do not have the time to play through the GT mode.

So I want an option to be available for racing the car on the track against the competition I want. Something like a 100% unlock in arcade.

Cool. It's your game and you can wish for anything you want.

On the other hand wishing for "cheats" in this particular corner of the web is pointless and can only end badly. Call it a prediction. When you're heading for a tree at 100mph does it really matter how it happened...it's just going to end badly either way and it's time to close your eyes and tuck your hands into your armpits.

Gran Turismo has never had "cheats". Never will. There's no use debating the merits as it's a done deal.

There may be "exploits" discovered, but these will be unintended by PD and you'll just have to determine what sort of GT gamer you are if you decide to seek out/use them. This site has and will always be made up of 99.9% hardcore GT players so don't be surprised by the reactions.

The only reason your post was even tolerated and not locked instantly is because of all the new users (many will be gone again in a week) and because we're all busy playing the game. Play the game however you want, it's a game. But this is GTplanet, and if you want to cheat you don't belong here. Bye.

WRONG

Have you ever heard of gameshark bud? I cheated the heck out of GT4 so it only a matter of time.

Some content (quote) removed by moderator.

As far as my opinion I just can't imagine having cheats in GT5 since I think it kinda breaks the game, yeah you sometimes drive crappy cars but that sense of achievement you get when you purchase your first supercar is really what makes the game great.

Schooled! You win. I forgot about the gameshark and how that means GT4 actually did have cheats within the game. And how you guys can keep requesting them on gtplanet. And how PD will call up gameshark inc. and tell them to include them in the next gameshark for PS3. I bow before you.

Seriously though, I think I've been feeding them, so I'll stop.

Man y'all know cheat played out with super Nintendo. lol

Usually cheats are something that added once the game is complete and the devs just have some extra time on their hands. I don't think i need to explain anything further than that.

All jokes aside, some of you may need to realize you don't have the time for games like you used to. Its called "growing up".

The only thing that should be unlocked from the begining is the ability to buy any car. i need a racing modded car and cant get it until L17, it was better when you just had to complete the licenses and you could race any car anywhere.

So would that be new users like yourself?

I paid full price for 1000 cars, tracks etc. In most games playing the career mode doesn't bother me. Gran Turismo is a different beast though. I don't play nor enjoy RPG's, yet somehow when I bought GT5, unbeknown to me, that's what I was getting. What makes it worse is there is an excellent simulation, with amazing race cars and tracks in the pot, hiding at the end of the grinding minutia of a rainbow that is GT5.

I mean, get Gold in the VW challenge to unlock the Top Gear Track? Whose idea was that?

I don't think cheats are needed, they could just slash car prices to half or a third of what they are now, plus of course remove the level restrictions on cars.

There is no reason to oppose "cheating" besides the fear of breaking away from norms.

Everything in the game should be freely available from the moment of purchase. If someone wants to treasure hunt instead of race, create a locked feature option for them. It's very easy to satisfy 99.9% of people.
