Been busy lately so its been a while since Ive posted, but Ive still been popping in keeping up with the thread. It sucks the PS3 demo was delayed to next week so guess I'll download the pc version so I can at least give it a try. Since there hasn't been any word on a US release I went ahead and pre ordered through a UK game store over the weekend.

Peasantslayer, you dont need to use the keyboard. You can use a PS3 or xbox controller if you want. Just download the motion joy program and that allows you to use a ps3 or xbox controller on pc, http://www.motioninjoy.com.

Ok thanks, does it require much setting up? because I've tried to get my ds3 working multiple times before using other software but numerous problems have came up.
 
It worked like a charm on my PC. I don't remember having to set anything up either. Just download and install and you're good to go.

Now THAT'S what I like to hear. If you sit neutrally from standing still and floor the throttle, does the bike flip? It should. Not that I think that's a great feat, but it helps me understand how it works. That's how SBK 08 works and that game for me is the role model.

I'm using pro physics and TCS off and unfortunately it doesn't. You do however have to be careful not floor the trottle coming out of the corners or else you will wheelie and eventually flip - well it is somewhat hard to do but it's achievable. I'll try to get some footage later, otherwise just check out Alan's videos over at TeamVVV's Youtube channel.

I also noticed how easily (way too easily actually), the rider flies off the bike, it's ridiculous at times.

Edit: Another thing that bothers me is that there sems to be a limited lean angle in certain situations or at certain corners (at Catalunya). I can't verify if it really is the case, but something just doesn't feel right in that regard. You really need to nail those corners perfectly. Tourist Trophy has really spoiled me with its customizable riding form.

Edit 2: As far as the AI go, they make plenty of mistakes, but I think it's way more frequent than it has to be - at least on the realistic setting. The AI also seems to enjoy an unrealistic level of grip and far shorter braking distances. It bodes for a nice challenge, but I end up finding myself fighting the loss of grip (fiddling with TCS on the fly helps), avoiding their mistakes and trying not to get rammed from behind more than actually racing against them.

I have the PS3 version pre ordered, but since the demo is delayed I tried to download it on my old laptop, but it couldn't really play it at all so I turned the graphics setting all the way down and it was playable but still lagging. Since that was the case I uploaded everything to my gaming pc I have for iracing. Since its build for gaming it played GP13 with everything on high setting perfectly fine. The graphics look really good on it but Im not sure if the PS3 version will be as good graphics wise.

That being said I finally was able to do some laps on it in the pro mode of course. I'm liking it so far, but its going to take some getting used to. I do wish the turning was faster. I don't like how its slow to switch direction and also slow picking the bike up out of corners. I do use the auto tuck though. It was similar to the body weight on the sbk games. I always had that turned on to. The on the fly tc settings is pretty cool. Im going to play some more tonight and mess around with settings but as of right now Ive ran the fastest with it on high. Every time I try and turn it lower I just spin to much. If you go into a corner a little to fast sometimes it all of a sudden it turns fast and I end up in the grass on the inside of the corner. Ive got better with it but it still happens.

The braking is much different than the last couple sbk games. The rear locks up easy so I didn't really even use it last night while I was playing. Before with sbk 11 and generations you can use the rear a lot and through the corners to get it to hold the line better but this gp you mainly just use the front It does have tons of rear steer though compared to the sbk games. You really steer it with the rear. Ive been running into the corner a bit deep and squaring the corner up more compared to sbk. Its going to take some getting used to for sure.

Going to play some more tonight and see how it goes. Going to mess around with some bike settings and see if I can get it to handle any better and get some more time on it in general. I'm ready to try the ducati. That's what I always rode in gp08. I think it might not be so bad since you are turning it so much with the rear. So far Ive turned my fastest lap on the yamaha but I feel Im faster on the honda but I havent really got a clean lap in yet on either honestly. I still run wide on some corners and the chicanes are hard to get right with the slow turning.
 
I got a little bit of good news this morning. Got the email saying my Gp13 has been shipped :). Its coming from the UK so it will most likely be a week or so but still didn't think it would be getting shipped out until friday on the release date so I was surprised to get the email. Hopefully I'll have it around middle of next week.

But the weight transfer is still there, right? Is there a difference in handling with different bikes? I'll try the demo on Sunday if I return home in time. I do worry about the "slidieness" coming out of corners that I hated in 2011/Generations might still be there although less pronounced. And the ragdoll.

Depending on what you mean by weight transfer. Yes with auto tuck there is weight transfer as far as the rider moving around he doesn't stay in full tuck all the time, only when your on the throttle, but there isnt a setting for rider movement like in the SBK games just the auto tuck off or on.

Yes you can tell a difference in handling and performance between the yamaha and honda like you could with the sbk games.

If you didn't like how the rear slid in SBK your going to hate gp then. If you compared the rear sliding from sbk to gp 13 thre is hardly no sliding on sbk. Its much more pronounced in gp13. You slide the rear much more coming out of corners and you need to ride it that way to get around the corners. It's a lot different compared to sbk in that aspect. Also the rider movement is much more twitchy compared to sbk. Takes some getting used to for sure.

Shopto by any chance? I got an e-mail today aswell, hopefully I'll have mine a bit sooner than that. I'm hopeful for tomorrow, every time I hear a diesel engine I'll run to the window. :dopey: I can't wait to get my first bike in career mode, I was hoping to use the number 25 but Vinales uses that.

I got my off of ebay from a game store, hands on gadgets. They had free shipping and was the same price as all the other ones up there. Im just glad it got shipped a little earlier than I expected. With me being in the US it will be around a week but I'll still get it a few days before I thought. Im used to it by now as I have had to get WRC, SBK X, 11 and Generations and now GP from a UK game store on ebay.

Edit: Forgot to add this but I'm sure you guys know. The ps3 demo is supposed to be released tomorrow. :)

It's here :) I might use shopto more often.

EDIT: Graphically it looks brilliant at times but there are definitely little issues such as the Tech 3 bike looking matte grey instead of gloss/metallic black. The career mode is up there with the FIFA and F1 games from what I've seen so far, I love how your surname appears on the back of your leathers. Prepare to be shocked when you get your first Moto3 bike (which will be a Honda) and you are destroyed on the straights by the KTMs, still that didn't stop me from winning my debut race from pole on medium difficulty. :)

Just had a quick session on it on the PC version. Just quickly raced each class and made my rider. Moto3 andMoto2 up to MotoGP is a big step in difficulty, the GP bikes are fast heavy yet twitchy and difficult to drive fast. and Moto 2 and 3 bikes are fun to race and again have a nice increase in difficulty between them so there feels like some genuine progression. You won't win on CRT bikes in GP class if anyone was worried about the in class difficulty, particularly on hard, haven't tried medium. The satellite bikes also don't feel as fast as the factory bikes but can win races.

I was worried some of the tracks that GP shares with SBK might not have had the same beautiful treatment that new tracks (i.e. not in Milestones previous games) have had but that was laid to rest on Silverstone and Assen which have been overhauled and re-modelled which is great and they look fantastic. Assen is hideously narrow when you have just raced Austin. There is a good event feel at each track, not as sterile as in the SBK games. The official presentation adds to it as well, really looks authentic whilst racing with the TV style overlays and circuit intro's.

Plenty to unlock to keep us going, helmets, pictures and videos as well as bikes to use in quick race and grand prix modes. I normally am not too fussed about unlocking things like videos but I have 4 so far and they have all been enjoyable. Won't spoil what they are all about but one that you don't have to unlock is a Moto2 crash compilation.

Overall very happy. Much better than the SBK games and a hugely better effort than previous MotoGP games. This was clearly made by guys who love motorbikes and MotoGP.
 
I'm on a RB KTM now and I've got the AI on realistic but it's too easy and I'm improving on it, I'll try playing with the physics settings to make the game harder. :sly:

PS3, I've found that you have to adjust the brightness settings between tracks for the bikes to look their best.
 
Got my first MotoGP bike today, it's an Aspar CRT. With realistic AI I managed to put it on pole by 8 tenths at Losail but in the race I was defending in every corner and I ended up down in 6th. You really need to get the bikes sideways out of the corners to be fast.
 
I am really enjoying this game so far. I'm still in moto3 but its still fun. I was racing with standard physics and realistic AI but it was a bit easy. Now I have moved to semi pro physics. The AI is pretty good I have had some good fights with them so far.

It's almost MotoGP 10/11 difficult to keep a smooth line and they kept the same twisted camera angle during turns for God knows what reason. I didn't mind the skiddieness with TC off though. It's just right but sensitivity is far too weak when slamming throttle straight on. It's very sad since I really, really appreciate the leg out animation and other things.

I switched to a Tech3 bike a few races into my first season in the top class and I've reached the level where you start getting offers from the factory teams, I think I'll choose Honda since I've used a Yam.

I think your writing it off early, give it time and you'll love it, I don't know what you mean when you mention the "twisted camera". The only big problems I've had is the game crashing and other graphical glitches like the screen just going black, as I said this is on a PS3.
 
I've put in a fair few laps now and it's such a disappiontment that they yet again produce a racer that is great except for a few things that destroy the fun completely. I can live with the simplified setup clicks, the bad taste in my mouth the Codemasters inspired causal stuff invokes (walking to the bike with cam inside helmet view, inluding rewind e t c), the eleminination of the close behind camera that I used, the non-existing in-race replay option and the weak throttle-response. Even the elimination of telemetry. But I can't have a shaking of the camera every time I do small adjusments. The dualshock in not a precision controller, ok? Don't make a game that is supersensitive so that that camera shakes and the man on the bike wriggles around and goes off track and can't keep the line just because I want to make a small adjustment to the line. Wtf? You made SBK 08 and got it right and now just throw that away? I don't ****ing get the unbelievable stupidity this is.

When you ride on a straight the camera is centered right behind your bike (so you can't see the front wheel). When cornering the camera is slightly from the inside of the turn. I think that breaks the feeling of immersion. This is even more pronounced (worse) in MotoGP 10/11.
 
I found a bug, if the track dries out during a qualifying session you can't change to dry tyres but the other riders seemed able to, I was 3 seconds off pole but won the race so obviously the other riders did switch to dry tyres in qualifying.

Did you know you can change the setup manually? there is another laptop next to the session information which lets you go into more detail with the setup.

So guys, what's the verdict on this game? Tossing the idea around to getting this on Steam.

I've played many bike games in past including Motogp 08, Motogp 09/10, SBK 08(I think that was its name, had a blueish cover), SBK 09, and SBK X. I've pretty much enjoyed all the SBK games and Motogp 08. Motogp 09/10 was alright, but I do remember playing the crap out of it for some reason.

Hard to watch videos and make a judgement call when most videos have crap riders:lol: It looks to have some good features and some not so good features. Seems to be what the bike community usually get anyway. I'm not too fussed if it isn't completely hardcore, it just needs to be fun. I'm also very interested in the helmet cam.

It's cool to read that you appreciated MotoGP 09/10 since pretty much everyone think it's godawful, including me. But I played a lot of MotoGP 4 back in the day and that was fun for some reason although it wasn't actually a great racer. So I can relate to having great fun with games that most happen to dislike (For ex.: Armored Core: For Answer, Brink). Because of that it's difficult to tell wether you'll like it or not, but I do believe that most videos have racers that "can't race" because the game does not facilitate smooth racing. And that's what kills my fun. It's possible to get there by practice, practice, practice but I think it should be easy to pick up and difficult to master. Now I believe it's difficult to pick up and probably difficult to master. And difficult in the wrong, struggling kinda way, fighting the control. You can se my other disappointments in the game above but I don't think those things will concern you much. It adds to my frustration to see that they did indeed get alot of things right with this game and then destroyed it with the handling. And it's not the first time either, SBK 09 was glorious except that the turning required heavy rear braking. Which destroyed that game... again...whoops. Do you ever se a a racer in real life starting to tumble on his bike like in MotoGP 13 because he makes a small (although sharp) adjustment and then the camera shakes to make the disorientation even worse? I'd like to talk to the person who thought that was a great feature.

I'm on PS3 just before I start. Does anyone else having trouble joining online lobbys? So far only been able to join 1 and every other time I try its says I got disconnected from PlayStation network? Do Milestone have any particular ports for there servers? I have all the Sony ports open but couldn't find the info if Milestone have any.

Also don't think think this is a bug but just sloppy work. When doing a qualifying session in career mode there is a clock in the garage. When I select go to track I magically do 90% of the out lap in no time at all. So in the 40 minute session I can be a on a flying lap at 39.40.
