Last years winner was the 458 Italia followed by the Nissan GTR in 2nd place and Porsche GT3 RS in 3rd place.

They also do a drag race on an air strip, this was from last years:

This year the Aventador will destroy everything in the drag.

Yeah right. It only has a chance if price is a strong factor.

Go for that if you want, but they'll say something along the lines of pure driving machine and great track car, bla, bla, bla...
I'm not rooting for them trust me...
I don't have a favorite here, but I'm going with the ZL1 or Porsche.

Scion FRS all the way, there's no way they will be able to get away with ignoring what could be one of the best driver's cars in recent memory.
Not only does it delivery on the driving experience but it also costs a fraction of what the other contenders cost.

And thus the flamewars between automotive fanboys get new fuel to the fire.. *goes to make a big bowl of popcorn*

yeah avantador will be 10.6's-10.7s with a good launch mclaren and the GTR will be close both are high 10 sec cars but it depends on the launch they get that day

How could a GT-R ever be the best drivers car?

that makes no sense... unless your drinking the magazine cliche koolaid of its like a video game it drives itself its cold there is no feel to it....

I'm guessing the Porsche, one of the pony cars or the MP4-12c.
I'm a bit skeptical on the MP4-12C. Most of the reviewers who tested it said that the car lacked "fun." (No, not just Top Gear.)

I'd also say it's going to be the Sciaru BRZFRS. Hell, even Jeremy Clarkson likes it (even over the Aventador, which he lauded in a Top Gear episode), so it must mean something. :sly:

this is my guess

#1 BRZ [although i dont see how they could actually give it to the BRZ if actual test times play a big factor as it just wont have the #s but it will rank high even win it as it will be a big headline grabber]

#2/#3 Mclaren & GTR [ too close to call ]

#4 Aventador [price will be factored in and hurt it]
991 S [could possibly move above the lambo because its an annual magazine darling]
ZL1
GT500

bringing up the rear

C63 AMG
XKR-S

They could turn off the driver aids. 💡

the 2013 doesnt require that.. im just saying people who say its not a drivers car have no idea what they are talking about.. confidence inspiring is not a bad thing. and the drives its self thing is ridiculous go run it up to 155 on a track and have to be down to 45-50mph for a turn and tell me it drives itself lol

Amazing that the Corvette Z06 from last year is still the fastest time around the track including this year and last years competition (1:34.4) I was surprised the Aventador was so quick around a track with no long straightaways. Even more surprised that it's AWD got beat out by the lower HP RWD McLaren MP4. The GTR's lap time stayed the exact same as last year even with an increase of HP and suspension improvements? And I thought the Camaro ZL1 was supposed to be the track car while the GT500 was the drag strip car? Guess not. GT500 > ZL1 IMO anyway.

Stay tuned for more portions of the 2012 best drivers car comming soon.

I think it'll be the 991 or C63, after watching the laps, Pobst really liked them.

not amazing

not surprising the GTR time only improved by 1/10th changes only amounted to about 6hp at the wheels and very slightly increased spring rates... the big suspension change only applied to RHD cars... it was strange randy complained of mid corner understeer on the 13 vs the 12... thats interesting/weird

from all the reviews ive seen i sort of thought the ZL1 one barely edge out the GT500 on the road course....guess not

the drag video is friday but i already know the results

Yes pilot sport cups are very sticky, so why have a $200k+ car on less than the best rubber? If its street legal tire then its fair game. Z06 is also down on power (505hp) a substantial amount to alot of the other competition McLaren, 458 Italia, Shelby GT500, etc. and so far behind the 700hp AWD Aventador. It also uses a 6 speed manual gearbox, slow compared to paddle instant shifts.

I was suprised to hear him say he didn't feel like he was driving the MP4-12c, it was too advanced. Funny he didn't mention that about the GTR and it 'driving itself'. That is one fast car though.

His opinion has some weight to the final decision, but it's about the overall package, not just track performance. From last year, he dismissed 3 cars he disliked then it went onto the next round with other people's input.

That's the Chevy version of the GT-R driving itself. The tires are useless without the rest of the car.

But this isn't about tires anyway (probably). The Z06 was tested under different conditions and I'm sure that if more tests were conducted with all the cars side by side, its position would fall. There is no way that the Z06 is faster than the ACR, and given that the McLaren and Aventador also had R compound street legal race rubber, I'd be surprised if the Z06 consistently beat them.

well, the results are up on Motor trend's website, and it is quite interesting to read what they think. I won't spoil it for you, but there are a few surprises. Read it here.

Im sorry but where is the Ferrari 458? Why was it not included. The 458 is in many other reviewers(and clarkson) eyes the best car in the world right now.
